Slick-warm-wet, Nenet continues to paint across her star-bright mural with stained hands. Something in the brilliance of the luminescence catches her eye, and she pauses to examine the speck of nothing.

She realises very quickly this is it - this is what she's been looking for her entire professional career - and with careful hands she reaches out. Everything fades away except for the small pebble hovering just above her palms; it rotates lazily, spinning without axis.

Nenet watches as something burgeons for the first time in the universe, her golden eyes struck with captivation. Around her galaxies burst to existence, and starlight glimmers both luminous and lazily, brilliant in its newness. And then, she does what she must, instinctive, primal, and curls her hand into a fist to crush the stone and that flowering proto-life upon it.

There's a moment of nothingness, in which the entire known universe holds its breath, and then an explosion of life. As Nenet unfolds her hand the universe twists in on itself, breaking into fractals and strings from a single point of origin; life has birthed and Nenet views her child in tender awe. She watches as pokemon, flora, and myriad other forms spring into existence in those tangled universes, now many instead of one, watches as that life flitters in and out of dimensions and realms until the strings and wormholes tying them together loosen and they separate.

Nenet laughs, joyous and bright.

Zev is there, and she turns and smiles, a rare affection shining through her expression. "Come look," she urges, her hand reaching for his. Together they stand amidst Pokemon and Ultra Beasts who tumble, converge, and separate around Nenet and Zev, the pair a stationary island in the tempestuous river of life surrounding them.

She grasps his hand, ignoring the dark crystals jutting from his skin, and together they push through the tangle. Tightening her grip on his, Zev's hand cuts into her own, spilling her blood and tearing her flesh; Nenet doesn't notice.

With each step they walk closer towards beams of watery light where the moon hangs low in the sky. "Do you see it," Nenet asks, looking over her shoulder towards Zev as she speaks. Her husband doesn't speak, can't speak, for he is naught but black crystals and a jackal-wide grin of teeth - Zev and Necrozma have morphed into one, knit together to the bone and never to part.

But that's fine. This alien entity is him, and he is it, and still Nenet loves with the ferocity of a hungering blackhole.

"Isn't it beautiful," she murmurs into the stillness of the air. Nenet turns towards Zev. Her wings spread wide, spangling the air with a beautiful night sky, wrapping rivulets of night around Zev tightly. His crystalline shards tear once more into her flesh, forever grounding her, and he tucks his head over hers in an act of possessive affection.

A haze of darkness cloaks the lovers beneath the moon. Nenet hums the haunting notes of a lullaby, beckoning the moon closer, while Zev consumes the light.

Until now they had been so far apart, but here they were, calling to the light to send it into darkness. Nenet smiles softly, her tattered wing lifting to caress Zev's crystalline cheek. The light continued to dim, though never faltered. Necrozma's hunger could never sated, but she could quell the worst of the ravening, for a time at least.

Nenet's gentle humming fills the air as the surrounding world fades into a haze.

The moon is now a distant memory.

Nenet keeps her eyes closed, the sheets upon her body both warm and familiar. She exhales softly and then scoots backwards upon the bed; a pair of arms curl tighter around her, drawing her skin against skin with the person behind her.

"I missed you," Nenet admits, her voice soft and scratchy from sleep. When she opens her eyes she sees nothing but light, brilliant and blinding until it wanes into the darkness of Zev's bedroom.

Zev gives a noise of acknowledgement, his lips pressing against her shoulder and then travelling up the column of her neck.

"This is one way to wake up," Nenet teases groggily, watching as her softly glowing body contrasts against the darkness radiating from Zev's skin.

Nenet slips from bed as quiet as a wraith. The sounds of shallow breathing fills the air as she moves around the apartment, Zev's steady breathing a soundtrack accompanying her dressing for work and slipping from the apartment.

Dawn breaks as Nenet steps into the the tiled reception area of Mossdeep Observatory. She flashes a faint nod to reception, a chorus of, "Good morning, Director Nzingha," filling the air as she makes her way to her office. The work is steady. She answers emails, makes phone calls, places orders and makes schedules for the Observatory to function seamlessly. Checking her watch she hums and then stands - finally it's time.

Making her way outside, Nenet watches the blue, blue sky above for any signs of disturbances. And - there - the air around her ripples and then bursts wide open, a wormhole opening right over the Observatory. Lunala flits through the opening, her cry reverberating as she displays herself in her full glory of night-spangled wings and shining light.

Nenet smiles, wide and bright as she observes the pokemon. A noise at her side alerts her to an approaching employee who informs her in a hushed voice that her husband is looking for her. She turns, her golden eyes shimmering in the pale moonlight, as she spies a dot in the distance.

She can't wait to show him this new development.
