The Illuminated sight draws Nenet up short - of all the things lurking in the shadows, Pokemon picked over like insects by a curious hand was hardly on her list of possibilities. Regardless, the fact remained that something had mutilated and haphazardly offered an alternative to the damage done.

Her gaze cuts askance sharply to Fern and their Tapu Koko. If this was Tapu Lele's fault, would the shiny Tapu Koko join or have thoughts of its own to cause such harm?

"We should draw one closer," she finally says, her eyes shifting from Fern to the scales littering the ground. Tipping her chin towards one of the scales, Nenet orders her Clefable to use Gravity one one of the nearby malnourished Pokemon.

Her attention then shifts down to the scales, and after a moment, she pulls out a small field kit and withdraws a pair of tweezers. "One of you," she murmurs for Fern and Ameena, "we can either retrieve one of those scales with these-" here she holds up the tweezers, "or I have some gloves. I'm not keen on touching something I don't know, however."

Nenet looks to the other scientist to confer how to proceed with their data collection. Zev she trusts to keep any potential dangers away while they confer.

"We can hope curiosity staves any immediate attacks then," Nenet muses to Fern. Her gaze cuts to Ameena, who Zev's words surely do little to comfort.

They arrive at the top of a tower and before them spans a ruined city, and though it holds its own discoveries the sky above reveals the true wonder. From a speck grows an even darker darkness, and from that the alien and terrifying form of Necrozma. The land around them shifts, and instead of concrete Nenet's shoes stand on dirt and pebble and a noxious sky spreads above them.

Necrozma fires a beam of light.

There isn't enough time to examine their surroundings fully, instead the sound of scraping, crawling, just far enough away to be unclear raises the hair on the back of Nenet's neck. She takes a step back, her hand moving to touch Clefable before she looks to Zev for answers as to whatever those sounds might be.

Not waiting, she plunges her hand into her back and pulls out a second pokeball to release Celesteela, directing it with, "Wide Guard." The Ultra Beast's arms spread outwards, forming a shield with enough of an illusion of protection that Nenet speaks again.

"What are those," she whispers softly. Around them the sky whips dirt through the air, further obscuring their unknown guests. "Clefable can teleport us if we all stay close enough to him." What she doesn't admit is there's very little visible places for them to go.

Necrozma continues to hover nearby.

Racing towards the Kyogre along Celesteela's back, before she can order an attack one is launched by the beast instead. Directly at Zev.

"Zev," she screams into the comms, her voice lilting upwards as he plummets from the sky and into the churning depths below. Pounding her fist on the Ultra Beast she demands, "Find him!"

Celesteela lowers itself, hovering in the vicinity of where he disappeared. For a few excruciating moments she scans the chopping water but then - there - she spies a hand and then the dark hair of her husband's head.

Another directive to Celesteela sends the pair jettisoning in his direction. Nenet reaches downwards, leaning low to grab his hand and haul him from the ocean.

"I've got you," she soothes as she arranges him on Celesteela; her arms wrap protectively around his waist as she leans his head back against her shoulder, the effort made somewhat difficult between her suit and helmet but nonetheless managed.

"I've got you."

The bright side was Nenet was with three people who had experience in this pocket rift. The not so bright side was everything reminded her of pain and suffering.

Pushing her thoughts to the side, Nenet gives Zev a sharp nod as to their impending itinerary. She almost pauses to examine the crystal-covered Megalopolans they happen up as they climb the stairs - a form that tickles half-remembered dreams of black crystals and jackal-wide smiles.

"Do we think the Tapu will be aggressive?" she asks as she skips up a missing step in the stairway. In the distance she hears the sound of crumbling concrete amidst an otherwise eerie silence. With a look towards Fern's Tapu Koko's flitting form, its body occasionally sparking with light as if in barely contained anticipation.

Her hand then going into the pack she halfway pulls off her shoulders, Nenet pulls out a pokeball and release Clefable. The little pink Pokemon shakes himself exuberantly as he looks around; flashing Fern and Ameena wide smiles, the Clefable's expression sours instantly as he catches sight of Zev.

Beginning to stop, the light touch of Nenet's hand at the back of Clefable's head sends the Pokemon continuing up the stairs begrudgingly.

Hovering above the growing crowd, Nenet taps on her Celesteela, signalling it to move backwards slowly. From her vantage she can see that both her and Zev are becoming outnumbered, and quickly at that. Walsh's orders then ring through the comms and frankly the idea of containing a single rampaging Pokemon sounds more promising than fighting this many people on her own.

Clicking on her own microphone, she murmurs lowly for Zev's ears, "Too many have gathered, I can't hold them off. We need to pull back." She then adds, doubting very much that her husband was paying enough attention to catch the directive, "Kyogre needs contained."

Better her orders than another's.

With that, Nenet briefly turns on her noise cancellation in the helmet and Celesteela unleashes a brutal Metal Sound. In the wake of screeching, rending metal filling the air, Nenet and Celesteela retreat into the darkness and back towards Kyogre.

Nenet frowns behind her mask; fire dances over the Dyna Tree's surface before extinguishing. Her frown deepens as she tries to parse the mystery of the healing but Zev's voice draws her back into the fight.

With a sharp call to her Ultra Beast she's soon braced against one thick arm and the pair are airborne. She winces subtly as a jolt passes from Celesteela to her, Yujin's directive of an ELECTRO SHOT was still skittering about the area and well placed. But Zev calls to Melody Miro of all people and Nenet grits her teeth.

She needs to get airborne, the ground is too dangerous between the electricity and the rising tides.

Instead of following Zev's attack of Melody Miro with one of her own, Nenet guards her husband's back and her attention turns towards the Jellicent. Pointing out the Pokemon in question, Nenet directs her Celesteela with, "Giga Drain." A brilliant green light beings to glow in the palm of Celesteela's free hand, and in seconds points that arm down towards Jellicent to drain its life.

Nenet steps lightly after Zev, her eyes darting this way and that as she picks her way through the rubble of Lesser Megalopolis, Memories of a ruined spaceship and endless toil cloud her mind while the flavour of cloying peach is just on the tip of her tongue at a sight so similar to the Megalopolis they crashed upon.

Bile rises in the back of her throat.

Shaking her head, she catches Zev's gaze when he glances towards her; only he could catch the faint tension in her jaw, the only betrayal of her discomfort, should he look close enough.

They press forwards.

"I haven't any desire to wander off," Nenet assures her husband.
[break][break]
In an attempt to distract herself, she instead looks over their other companions, Admin Delaney and Ameena Abadi, lit beneath the eerie light of Zev's Chandelure. Admin Delaney remains a mystery while Ameena she recognises from the nightmare of the Prismatic Penitentiary - one who tried to take a Megalopolan child.

No good. Bile rises once more.

"Have either of you been here before," she asks, the question hanging openly for anyone to answer. She's already well aware of Zev's foray into Lesser Megalopolis.

"Is it?" Comes Nenet's answer. What funny things, rumours. She leans back in her chair, something akin to mirth touching her expression.

All of this for a few simple questions about Ultra Space? So be it.

"I'm as close to an expert as you'll likely get," she answers. Lacing her fingers together, she rests her elbows on the table and her chin upon her laced fingers, golden eyes gleaming and bright. "What do you need to know about it?"

While she was loath to leave the Space Center once Rocket's attack was diverted back to Sootopolis, realistically there was nothing she could do. She was neither an engineer, mechanic, nor architect. Placing her League headset down on her desk, Nenet left for Rocket's warship and in turn, her husband.

She emerged sometime later in a full bodysuit and sleek helmet obscuring her identity to stand just behind Zev. He seemed in his element, though surely angry they had withdrawn from Mossdeep before securing a victory.

Pulled from her thoughts, Nenet gives a sharp nod as Zev directs her to follow him. Heels clicking loudly upon the flood as she trails after him, where an Ultra Wormhole rends the sky above. Before her bolts Zev, up and over the bow and into the waiting clutches of his Patron.

She could plunge blindly after Zev, but Nenet would make her own way down instead. Releasing Celesteela from its pokeball, Nenet grasps one of its bulky arms with a gloved hand and braces her foot against its metal. A few moments later and they land beside Zev on the high ground beneath the tree.

"Wide Guard," she directs the Ultra Beast, who sweeps its arms outwards to protect the grouping of Rockets.

The past rushes forwards and Nenet sees a young boy all alone in the school, but not for long. It only takes a moment to reveal his face - reveal Zev's face - and she watches as the boy is pushed to the ground, his things ruined and body beaten.

Her brow furrows.
[break][break]
This is Zev? The Devourer? The hitman feared from Kanto's own military? But a boy had to start as a boy, not a man, and he was careless in his sociopathy. He would learn, though. He would learn a charming smile and warm voice wholly incongruent with the artlessness on display.

In him she sees nothing of their once-daughter.

Beside her she can feel Zev freeze up at the unexpected revelation. Watching the proceedings with a guarded expression, when she finally speaks it's as soft as it is exacting.

"Let's go home."

There is nowhere to direct her bubbling rage sans into the strength of her grip upon Zev's hand, but eventually that relaxes and their hands threaten to slip apart. Thoughts of her once-daughter crowd out all else under the haze of a high-pitched whine until slowly the world bleeds back into existence around her.

The majestic cliffs of Alola greet her vision, and before it a Xatu stands just a bit away from the couple. Her brow furrows as she tires to focus once more.

"The future," she repeats as she looks to Zev. She blinks once, surprised at the apparent intuitiveness of the machine, how it surmised Zev's move and their marriage.

Could it truly be that accurate? A pit forms in her stomach.
[break][break]
Carefully she gives a small nod and murmurs, "Alright. Let's see the future."
