"It will, yes," Nenet sighs into his skin. He would see she could be of help - that she was more than worth drawing into his plans and confiding in. Zev was entertaining her interests now, at least.

She doesn't return his kiss, not yet. Instead she leans into his touch. Slowly, steadily, she lets herself be coaxed into her better graces; hitching one leg around his waist, she hauls herself up his body. Legs tight around his middle to balance there, her hands lift to scrape through his hair, pulling as she goes.

With a low hum, Nenet leans down to whisper in his ear, "If you see the Director kill them." That order spoken she presses closer to him, eyes half lid. She would muzzle him tonight, take away his voice, and use him.

It wasn't anything he wouldn't do.

She doesn't resist as she's pulled flush against her husband; golden eyes follow the ripple of crystals over his skin with a detached interest until they snap upwards at the following words.

She expects that. She doesn't expect what follows. The last time Zev had surprised her like this he said he loved her. He didn't, but that wasn't the point. He was what he was and she had always accepted that. The confession of sorts rests heavy in her stomach; she was, truly, never to be rid of him even if she wanted, but he would let his pretty bauble be happy in his fangs while she held his leash. A hard enough yank would garner his attention, for better or worse.

She can't decide who that is worse for. Herself, or those she turns his eyes to.

Nenet coerces a gentle smile to her lips, her hands moving to rest at the back of Zev's neck as she draws him forwards, her forehead resting against his. "Thank you," she murmurs quietly. Then, sincerely, "I'm not leaving your side."

She wouldn't apologise for the argument, though. For the teeth bared and insults hurled. This was all merely another bump in the road to smooth over as they always did. There were more important things now.

The only thing that truly mattered is Zev assured her the building would be spared and her work could continue.

"I may be able to make Rocket's infiltration easier if you want the data. The satellites might be of interest. I just need to know when to have things ready by."

Nenet blinks once at Greyson. Nosy man. "Yes," she finally agrees. Placing the coffee down on the table, she folds her hands and exhales, debating how much to tell of her personal life. She had never been one to be forthcoming. "When we broke up it wasn't under pleasant terms. He wanted more out of the relationship than I."

Before Greyson can ask what, she continues, "Zev was a pleasant enough distraction but there wasn't anything more outside of said distraction." She arches her brow, daring Greyson to catch her meaning.

"I don't know if you know this but he holds a bit of a grudge when he doesn't get what he wants."

She had been warned the simulation would feel real, but Nenet loses herself in the wonder of the Ruins of Alph that rise before her. "How was this machine created?" Nomi stands somewhere beside her, but Nenet only has eyes for the looming darkness before them.

Something within seems to draw her closer. She manages to stay where she is for now, beside her guide.

Not taking her eyes off the the tunnel her voice is soft when she finally speaks. "I've heard of the ruins. Is this really what they look like?" The darkness pulls at her, and Nenet takes a single step forwards, curiosity shimmering across her golden eyes.

Nenet peers down at the touch to her hands, her expression hard for a bare moment before it slowly bleeds away; her fingers shift, entwining with his.

"I care when it concerns me," she decides after a time. "We live here - I work here. I don't need to know the details of where you were last night or what you did last week. But I do like knowing you'll be gone, and for how long to expect. And if something like a war is on the horizon."

Was he finally listening? She hopes so. One hand pulls from Zev's, and she hesitates a moment before resting the palm of her hand against his cheek.

"I could have been safeguarding the machinery and getting you access codes if I had known. That building is worth more than you can imagine and if it's gone I can't stay here." She arches a single eyebrow at Zev as she holds his gaze.

Nenet would do a great many things for him, but her work would dictate where she lived whether he liked it or not.

Nenet had liked the atrium. The girls who manned the front desk were always polite, and stealing coffee from their little break room meant the cost didn't come out of her department's budget. Well, the budget was blown, along with the rest of the atrium, as Minior's explosion rips through the room.

Allowing Noel to guide her through the doorway and to safety, she just manages to recall Minior before disappearing into the hallway. Nomi chases after them, the heat of Gouging Flame licking at her back as she stops at the locked door and flips open a security panel. She frowns.

Tapping a code onto the panel, Nenet glances towards the door, brow furrowed, as it fails to slide open. Something was wrong. Mark should have had to door opened by now. Quickly she taps at the panel, trying security code after code but none of them seem to work.

"Be careful," she barks to Noel over her shoulder. The boy seemed to be fairing well, however. He was certainly a much better battler than Nenet would ever be. Luckily, his determination was contagious and she stills as she thinks through her next moves.

There was another exit she could take them, circle back and try a different door, but Mark was trained to this one. If they tried that then Alba Evovae would be endangered. They have to use this door. They could try the air ducts... Just as she looks towards the ceiling a loud click sounds from behind her. The door opens, and she grins viciously.

Nenet bolts into the lab just as the power around them flickers. Taking advantage of brown-out, she places a USB into the nearby terminal and screens come to life. As she types she pulls out the League commset and speaks into it lowly, urging guards to her location. They would be too late, however. Nomi would be gone with the information well before this all came to a head.

Distantly, Nenet thinks she sees a shadow move in just the wrong way. But her attention focuses instead on the screens before her. Information downloads as she pulls up cameras and begins closing doors and opening others. Movement on the screen reveals Alba Evovae's tenuous position within the Center. He would not be discovered, at least - a door closes as he passes through a room, locking him away from League personnel.

Nenet hums in recognition of Zev's words, but still doesn't seem to wholly believe it all. Everything had felt so real the last time she had entered the machine - but, well, her body was safe at the end of the day.

She just needed to remember that in the moment.

Her gaze casts over to Zev at his discomfort, but she nonetheless nods and follows after him into the shade. The tomb the enter holds a Wishing Star, one that immediately draws her attention.

Deep fascination colouring her expression, she agrees with a soft, "Alright," and reaches out to touch the purple chunk, hoping to draw it nearer past the boulders.

"Yes," Nenet agrees. "I suppose so." The woman did prefer to look towards the stars over the mundanity of. Nonetheless her nose does wrinkle at the title of doctor. She had never preferred its use.

Nenet casts around the atrium. More Rocket grunts have filtered into the room, significantly outnumbering the pair. Eyes narrowing, both from the burst of light and proffered information, Nenet snarls to Noel when her sight recovers, "There's too many now."

"I need you to trust me," she murmurs to Noel, her voice lowering once more. "Get us through to that door. I can lock them in here - buy us more time to bring in reinforcements."

The pieces continue fall into place. Once through the door it was a straight shot to one of the labs where schematics were held - information she was rarely able to see. Perfect for Rocket to study. The organisation may not have earned her loyalty yet, but thus far its resources proved beneficial enough to continue aiding them - and there was an added bonus if one of those grunts found the Director out alone... Nenet was nothing if not opportunistic.

She moves another piece, mouth hitching with superiority.

"Minior," Nenet calls. Above, adding to the impending chaos, Nenet's shiny Minior glows brighter; the Pokemon draws in energy for an Explosion. Beneath the pulsing black light, she pulls out a League commset to speak into. "I'm closing the atrium off."

Nenet's gaze casts fleetingly to the rippling crystals across her husband's skin. She arches an eyebrow but otherwise does not comment on the seeming loss of either control or indifference at seeing his monstrosity. He wouldn't dare strike her.

"I could have been doing something about it if you had told me any of this sooner," Nenet answers, her voice clipped and level as best she can manage. How dare this man affect her so. Making her lose control like this.

Her eyes maintaining contact with Zev's, she furrows her brow minutely as she leverages instead, "We're a team, Zev. I have never given you a reason to distrust me, and I have always told you pertinent information, but this has been kept from me until now."

"Have I only just now earned the right to know? This has surely been planned for some time. I don't care if you assault the city, but I care about the Observatory. It's irreplaceable. Whether you believe me on that or not, it's true."

"I can help you - I have always helped you - but you have to let me."

You have to trust me but you haven't.

Nenet hums softly at the question lobbed her way, but the moment is gone and the sky awaits them.

As she stands beside the telescope, her gaze tips up to look at the swath of night seen through the dome's opening. The patch of sky the telescope pointed to was still breathtaking without the clarity of the lenses; knowing what laid beyond what she could readily see only made the depths above even more enticing.

"Oh, yes," Nenet answers, her voice warm. "We're all rather meaningless when you start looking outward." Her golden eyes don't leave the sky as she adds, "And then you have universes beyond ours and you really begin to understand the insignificance of it all."

"But some would argue that makes us unique, and inherently important. It's really about perspective, I suppose."

"What do you think, councilwoman?"
