In the pitch dark, the light that Tsukiko gave off reflected off of something - casting a glimmer that caught Makoto's eye.

A Yamask - the pre-evolution of Cofagrigus, if memory served them. They remembered the one that Zev Harcourt owned - during that one fateful heist - and the tricks it had up its sleeve... Perhaps they could make use of one, themself, then..?

Taking out a safari ball, they'd give it a toss in the Yamask's direction.

And with that, they had a new ghost-type to add to their new growing collection. One to teach a number of tricks to, for future heists, at that.

But, the sound of fluttering wings and the rustle of leaves would catch Makoto's attention next. And glancing off towards a nearby tree, they could spy the dimly-lit silohuette of a Zubat hanging from a branch - just at the edge of the light cast by Tsukiko. They already had one of the Zubat family in Nobusuma - but bat pokemon tended to be at least somewhat social, right? Perhaps he'd appreciate a friend.

With that in mind, they'd toss another pokeball.

A friend for Nobusuma; Makoto would have to see how well they got along with one another, but they hoped that he'd appreciate having someone of the same evolutionary family to socialize with.

However, speaking of friends... It seemed that Tsukiko's illumination had drawn in a certain pokemon. Namely, a curious little Murkrow. The corvid would hop along the branches to follow after them, head cocking one way and then the other as it took in her appearance. They supposed that to the Murkrow, Tsukiko was essentially an especially large shiny object.

Perhaps they'd make for a good couple of friends, then? Once more, Makoto reached for a safari ball.

So far so good - the first three pokemon they ran into were ones that had caught their eye. That only left them with one more ball to catch something with, but well... They weren't too worried about that right now, at least not yet. They had plenty of time left in the night before they had to leave the safari - before they had to consider going to bed.

Though, the next pokemon that they came across would not catch their eye quite as much as the others had. A Tarountula - just minding its own business, spinning a little web for itself to slumber in. Though it was a cute sight, and the bug-type was otherwise endearing, this one wasn't quite Makoto's cup of tea.

So, after observing the Tarountula for a little while, they'd move on alongside Tsukiko - further down the trail.

And with the Tarountula left to its devices, the next pokemon would eventually come along. Although, rather than Makoto finding it, perhaps it was more accurate to say that the pokemon found them - even if unintentionally.

For it was almost out of nowhere, that a Deino - running full-tilt - would suddenly slam into Tsukiko! There was a yelp and plenty of flailing about as the fox tripped over the dragon, the dragon tripped over the fox, and the two became a tangled mess of bites and limbs. It took a little bit of scrambling for them to pry themselves away from one another - upon which Tsukiko would take to grooming herself.

Makoto blinked a bit at this whole scene - before glancing to the little dragon-type, who was still a bit stunned. An interesting one - perhaps they could use more pokemon who could properly fight, especially on terrain other than just land...?

They'd give the Deino a chance to gain its bearings - but otherwise, prepared the last safari ball.
