here again, treading a path she's tread before. is she always doomed to make the same mistakes? live the same losses? fight wave after wave after wave? how long can she keep going like this until it drags her under? how long can she hold her breath?

she feels the ghost of red-bloom tendrils on her skin, writhing not at the whims of a grass-type, but a sorceress of despair.

seafoam scales glitter under the placid water of the crater. she half-expected to see some sort of water-type, but ori stands down when the drampa rears its head, soulless yellow eyes staring up at the dragoness and her partner. ori gives a soft warning hiss and the dragon sinks back into the water, searching for better companions.

while she'd have felt bad letting ori go toe to toe with as gentle a creature as a drampa, she does not deny him the hunt of a tasty delicacy. his tongue forks out quickly, pupils narrowing as he crawls over rocks.

the shaking applin, hiding where it thinks itself safe from a bulky salamence, is not prepared for ori's runty size. the salamence sticks a foreleg in and snatches the dragon and its apple in his dagger-like claws, snapping it up in one fell swoop.

he is still licking nectar from the tip of his claws and freya has sat down by the water's edge when they see a dragonair surface. it shakes out its head, feathery fins sending droplets scattering. its tongue forks and it turns towards ori.

its growl is almost like a low purr and is the only warning sign before it moves. ori meets its slam head-on with a zen headbutt and knocks it aside, nostrils puffing with contempt.

he laps at the rest of the nectar and when the dragonair shakes out its head, he releases a stream of dragon breath over its scales, leaving freya to collect the weak dragon in a pokeball.
