He was accompanied by Alpha the Lucario this time around. After the jackal Pokémon had laid his paws on the wall and sussed out that there was nobody on the opposite side of the wall, he had to squint through the crack that was right there, trying to lure him in.

A tantalizing option, wasn’t it?

How the fuck do we bust into the secret passageway without bringing this entire place down? he thought, staring at the rocky ground and trying to figure out a strategy.

On his part, the dual Steel/Fighting-type Pokémon continued to keep an eye out for any approaching threats… because how many times had he been fucking jumped already by all those Rockets today?

Just where the hell is he? After following a report of a strange hole located in the middle of nowhere, Emmett has found himself in quite the predicament for you see, the investigation led to him falling for a rather well-hidden pit into a rather deep cavern full of water. And after pulling himself out of the pool, he'd realised that the radio signals were either far too weak or jammed here, so there went the plan of calling for help.[break][break]

So, there was only one option left - To venture down that tunnel present in the deepest corner and pray for the best. At the very least, he isn't alone in this journey, poor little Na'au sticking close to his side as her ribbons tighten around his arm. Count the other pokeballs present with him and he probably has a pretty decent chance of survival.[break][break]

"Fuck around and find out, right?"[break][break]

His voice echoes down this passageway, the question slowly hammered into his head as he hears himself repeat it several times over.[break][break]

Sometimes he wished there was a way to open just the tiniest possible wormhole, big enough to fit him and his Lucario—so that they could leave the wall untouched.

(Because holy shit, the place looked really unstable; maybe a few strong blows could send the wall—and the ceiling—down on him! And no, he did not want that!)

He then looked over at Alpha, who wrinkled his snout his way before shaking his head.

“Are you hearing things?” he asked the other, wondering if even his hearing was going now…

Looking to Na'au for confirmation, he's quickly assured that he's not the only one hearing things. The Sylveon looks jumpier than ever, reaching teeth-chattering levels of nerves that he almost wonders if it'd be better if he recalls her for no-[break][break]

Why was the wall talking back? What in the fuck—

Was something similar to what happened like a few years ago, that time Father Winter had appeared in Granite Cave happening again?

His Lucario frowned, the dual-type turning to face him and raising his eyebrows.

“Who’s there?!” he called through the crack, hoping that it wasn’t yet another Team Rocket member he would have to fight in these cramped conditions…

The more that poor person replies, the more he begins to pinpoint their identity. Sounds dead inside, a little worried for what's to come, probably ready to throw hands at whatever might come out at them - Probably fits about a large number of the combatants present on this field, but this particular brand is identifiable by the exact voice.[break][break]

This time, he will not answer, only busy himself by tapping away at the walls and trying to find a weak spot. But perhaps, that pout that Na'au gives him is indicative that he might be making a terrible decision.

Instead of getting an answer, though, he’s met with silence…

Maybe he was just hearing things? He hoped not, but still… hearing voices other than the one that he was normally used to in the back of his mind was downright fucking crazy. Insane, even.

The thing is, instead of a voice, this time he heard… tapping. Were the tapping noises making any sense? No… they didn’t make any sense, however he’d already reached for one of the knives that were strapped to his legs.

“I… fucking swear, if… if you’re not just a figment of my imagination, you better answer…!” he breathed out, trying to follow where the tapping noises were headed off to.

He doesn't quite move from where he stands, merely tap tapping as he determines that yes, this is indeed a solid wall. One that he won't be breaking with his own strength anything time soon. Na'au isn't equipped to bust down dense stone either but she will try for his sake, beginning to paw and scratch at the wall as she adds to the unsettling choir.[break][break]

Tossing a stone into the already rippling pool, he rolls his eyes and takes a step back. If there is indeed another path on the other side, it'd be best if he could break into it and get off this road to a scary, dark hell.

The moment the other voice spoke, he felt his Lucario’s aura flare up defensively, and the Pokémon stepped forward.

“W-w-w-wait, how the fuck did you know my name?!” he exclaimed to the seemingly solid wall, but his Lucario had other ideas as he shook his head.

“Wh—Alph, you…” he stammered into silence as the jackal Pokémon then reared back his fists and then began smashing away at the wall with a succession of punches.

Hopefully the Lucario wasn’t going to lead them both into a trap…

Well, that response sure did confirm his suspicions. And as he hears something beginning to chip at the wall from the other end, he allows Na'au to guide him away.[break][break]

Cracks begin to form, dust shaken from the ceiling as pieces of rock crumble and clatter against the ground. Soon enough, there will be just enough of a hole for someone to peek through, a smile tugging at Emmett's lips as he waits for everything to settle.[break][break]

The Lucario continued to hack and chip away at the wall, ensuring that it didn’t cave in with the way he was dealing out precise, exact strikes while Lars leaned against the wall and waited for it to collapse.

Eventually, the cracks would widen and eventuall cave outwards, causing stale air from the opposite side of the wall to reach where they were waiting.

He reeled back at the momentary stench of damp earth, before bracing himself and following the Lucario into the opposite side of the path—

“Fuck, why didn’t you say it was you in the first place?!” he exclaimed quietly, while his Lucario stood guard.

“Alright, you’re absolutely sure you haven’t been followed, then?” he confirmed, before reaching into a pocket and taking out a notepad before squinting in the low light… this was going to be hard.

Fishing out his phone, he then held it pinned at a weird angle under his chin as he began shuffling through the note pad, before finding the page where he’d given up drawing the passageways before continuing to draw at the point where he’d stopped.

Keeping track of all these hidden passageways was hard, you know.
