elijah possesses no flying mount—but he is tasked to the skies. a black balaclava is stretched over his nose and mouth, leaving only the sternness of his eyes. but the mask is not just for the concealment of identity.[break][break]

it is for the protection against spores.[break][break]

from the air, elijah and his helicopter approaches. the pilot brings him closer to Sierra Benoit's position, the rotor blades chopping the air with percussive swings.[break][break]

"off ya get." [break][break]

elijah's ELDEGOSS hovers forth into the air, past the landing skids. with a twirl, COTTON SPORES fly from the pokemon's body. they begin to descend upon Sierra Benoit and her pokemon in order to slow them. whether she is in the air or on the water with her HYDREIGON, it does not matter.[break][break]

he intends to sink them deep below.

The wind whipped through Sierra's hair as she clung to the scaly back of her Hydreigon, soaring high above the vast expanse of the sea. The rhythmic beating of the dragon's wings beneath her resonated with the excitement pulsing through her veins. Sierra, the daring Pokémon news reporter, was on a mission to capture the latest scoop on the enigmatic Rocket initiative.[break][break]
The sea stretched out endlessly below, its surface glistening in the golden hues of the setting sun. The Rocket's presence loomed in the distance, a foreboding silhouette against the horizon. Sierra adjusted her cap, squinting through the lens of her high-tech camera, determined to get the perfect shot.[break][break]
"Come on, Hydreigon, a bit closer!" she urged, her voice barely audible over the rush of wind. The Dragon Pokémon responded with a powerful beat of its wings, closing the gap between them and the Rockets' activity.[break][break]
Sierra's eyes widened behind her goggles as the cotton spores descended like ethereal snowflakes, creating a shimmering curtain around her and Hydreigon. She tightened her grip on its back, urging Hydreigon to push through the cloud of spores.[break][break]
But the insidious fluff clung to the dragon's scales, slowing its once-mighty wings. The usually swift movements of Hydreigon became sluggish, and Sierra felt her stomach churn with a mix of frustration and anxiety. She glanced back at Elijah's helicopter, realizing that this was a well-coordinated trap.
"Hydreigon, break through! We can't let them ground us!" she shouted over the roar of the rotor blades, but the dragon's movements were increasingly labored.[break][break]
Sierra's mind raced, searching for a way out of this aerial entrapment. That's when Hydreigon, despite its slowed state, unleashed a defiant Dragon Pulse toward the helicopter.[break][break]
The powerful energy surged through the air, creating a shockwave that sent the cotton spores scattering. They aimed to momentarily disrupt their calculated assault. Sierra seized the opportunity.[break][break]
"Good job, Hydreigon! Now, Goomy, it's your turn!" Sierra called out, tossing a Poké Ball into the air. Goomy materialized next to her on Hydreigon's back, its gooey form quivering with determination.[break][break]
"Goomy, use Rain Dance to clear the spores!" Sierra commanded, and Goomy responded with a joyful wiggle, summoning harsh raindrops that began to wash away the lingering cotton spores.[break][break]
As the rain intensified, Hydreigon regained some of its lost speed. Sierra steered the dragon upward, ascending through the rain and away from the remnants of the spores.

grumbles grind out of elijah's lips as rain begins to fall. on the helicopter's metal shell, raindrops rattle tinny notes. but such orchestrations of nature fade behind the cacophony of war.[break][break]

no nuance can exist therein.[break][break]

as sierra and her hydreigon rise, a warning LEAF TORNADO blows toward them. elijah's ELDEGOSS stares them down with the color of dead leaves.[break][break]

"come any closer and we'll send you right back to earth. even better, we'll put you six feet under." elijah shouts.

Sierra gritted her teeth as the warning Leaf Tornado sliced through the air, leaves swirling in a dangerous dance. Goomy, sensing the imminent threat, responded quickly and used PROTECT. A translucent barrier enveloped the small dragon Pokémon, Protect holding against the leafy onslaught. Sierra spared a quick nod to Goomy, grateful for the Pokémon's quick reflexes.[break][break]

As the helicopter hovered menacingly above, Elijah's threats echoed through the rain. Sierra's gaze remained steady, her eyes meeting Elijah's defiantly. [break][break]

Hydreigon, undeterred by the Leaf Tornado, ROARED in defiance. Its three heads glared at Eldegoss, a show of dominance and strength. Sierra seized the opportunity to turn the tables.[break][break]

The dragon's roar reverberated, echoing the defiance that Sierra felt. The helicopter's crew, momentarily taken aback, struggled to maintain their composure possibly.[break][break]

Sierra quickly zoomed in her camera, capturing the intense standoff between Hydreigon and Eldegoss. Raindrops clung to the lens, creating a cinematic effect as she recorded the clash of wills in the stormy sky. She was determined to make the best of the situation, turning adversity into an opportunity for a groundbreaking news story.[break][break]

"Is this really how Team Rocket spends its time? Attacking reporters instead of whatever grand plans you've got?" Sierra's voice was laced with sarcasm as she continued to film. "The world deserves to know what you're up to."

the roar is three-pronged: a tyrannous clamor crowned by three dragon maws. from the hydreigon, the eldegoss is carried by the gust of recoil. however, it resists the call of its capsule while sierra continues to capture footage.[break][break]

"you're a reporter?" elijah spits. "then this isn't your fight."[break][break]

his finger taps on another pokeball. a tangrowth uncoils itself, several vines latching onto the helicopter skid. though the aircraft is weighed down, elijah sees no other choice in order to even the odds.[break][break]

"i'll make sure this isn't your big break. tangrowth, POWER WHIP!"[break][break]

as elijah's eldegoss continues to muster its courage against the hydreigon, a long extending whip swerves toward sierra's camera.

The Power Whip lashed out with a thunderous crack, the elongated vine hurtling towards Sierra's camera. In a split-second reaction, Goomy flung itself into Sierra's chest, a protective barrier that pushed her away from the impending danger. The Power Whip crashed into the camera, shattering the lens and rendering it inoperable.[break][break]

Sierra staggered backward, a mixture of shock and gratitude flooding her senses. She clutched the SD card with trembling hands, the only salvageable piece from her now-ruined equipment. Goomy wriggled on the deck, its gooey form providing an unexpected shield.[break][break]

Elijah's Tangrowth loomed, still anchored to the helicopter skid, a formidable opponent in this chaotic mid-air skirmish. Sierra, undeterred by the setback, glared defiantly at Elijah.[break][break]

"You may have taken out my camera, but you won't silence the truth!" she declared, her voice ringing through the rain-soaked air. The SD card clenched in her hand, Sierra knew it was of little help, but what little footage she did have would have to tied her boss over-for now.[break][break]
With no means to continue filming, Sierra made a tactical decision. "Hydreigon, retreat!" she commanded, steering the dragon Pokémon away from the tangling vines of Tangrowth. [break][break]

As they distanced themselves from the conflict, Sierra shot one last defiant look at Elijah. "This isn't over! You just made yourself the headline of my next big scoop. I'll be back, and the world will know the truth!"

the truth. whatever truth sierra has captured in her little sd card, elijah deems illegible and flyblown. no matter the scene captured by her camera, the biased lens is manipulation enough.[break][break]

"why leave it on a cliffhanger?" elijah spits, motioning for the pilot to pursue. "come back and finish it."[break][break]

however, the helicopter is weighted by wriggling vines. their initial acceleration is a clunky lurch, forcing elijah to recall the tangrowth with gritted teeth.[break][break]

The cotton spores drifted down like ethereal confetti, weaving a delicate web around Sierra and her Hydreigon. Sierra squinted against the shimmering particles, feeling an odd heaviness settling over her and the dragon Pokémon. Hydreigon's once-powerful wingbeats became sluggish, the spores taking their toll on its flying prowess.[break][break]

"Hydreigon, we need to find cover!" Sierra urged, scanning the horizon for any sign of refuge. Through the haze of spores, she spotted land—a dense forest with towering trees and thick foliage not far off. Determination etched across her face, Sierra steered Hydreigon toward the sanctuary of the treeline.[break][break]

The dragon Pokémon struggled against the effects of the spores, its movements increasingly laborious. Sierra could feel the resistance in the air as they fought against the invisible forces trying to drag them down. The distant landmass beckoned like a haven, promising shelter from both the spores and the prying eyes of Team Rocket.[break][break]

"Almost there, Hydreigon. Just a bit more!" Sierra encouraged, her gaze fixed on the lush greenery that represented safety. The spores clung relentlessly, but Sierra clung to the hope that the dense foliage would shield them from the worst of it.[break][break]

Sierra cast a quick glance at her small companion and grinned. "Goomy, we need some help. Use Muddy Water on that helicopter's windshield, make it hard for them to follow!"[break][break]

Goomy nodded with a cheerful squish and unleashed a spray of muddy water towards the helicopter. The thick liquid splattered against the windshield, obscuring the pilot's view. Sierra seized the distraction, using the moment to redirect Hydreigon towards the coveted land.[break][break]

Goomy stuck out its tongue, blowing raspberries in Elijah's direction- defiant in the face of danger.

by the time the helicopter is relinquished of the tangrowth's weight, elijah can already see sierra has widened the gap to an irrecoverable distance.[break][break]

mud smothers the windshield. gravity collects surplus sludge, forcing it off the aircraft's nose as if it were bleeding.[break][break]

the goomy sticks its tongue out, and elijah's lips flatten. his eldegoss twirls back to rest on his shoulder, its small smile a stark contrast to its trainer's stoney face.[break][break]

The dense foliage enveloped Sierra and Hydreigon as they plunged into the heart of the forest. The air was thick with the scent of earth and the rustle of leaves provided a symphony of sanctuary. Sierra dismounted Hydreigon, patting its scaly hide with gratitude.[break][break]

"Good job, my friend. We'll lay low for a while," she whispered to the dragon, her eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of pursuit.[break][break]

Goomy bounced beside her, a cheerful gooey companion in the midst of uncertainty. Sierra couldn't help but smile at the little Pokémon's resilience. "You did great back there, Goomy. We wouldn't have made it without you."[break][break]

As they ventured deeper into the forest, the distant hum of the helicopter faded away. Sierra's instincts told her that they had successfully eluded their pursuers, at least for the time being. She found a secluded spot beneath the canopy, a haven where the sunlight filtered through the leaves in dappled patterns.[break][break]
Today was a bust, but she was lucky enough to make it out in one piece.
