If anything, it would be Isaac having to run right in to stop the fight before she destroyed herself battling to the bitter end. Musing over that very thought, she nearly misses the matter-of-fact admission that Isaac makes about how his license to handle these fireworks is probably a wikihow page or a post from an enthusiast on the internet.[break][break]

Breathing in slowly, she tents her hands together and pinches the bridge of her nose between.[break][break]

The part about the flat, sturdy space is right, her feet shuffling across the sand as she tries find to a decent launching point. The shifting sand surely won't hold things well and wet sand is something they really should avoid -[break][break]

A Corsola is called out, the pink bundle of delight squealing as he begins to manipulate the sands to be sturdy enough with an Earth Power. And with one final check of the winds, she nestles the mount into the compacted ground.[break][break]

At the very least, they seemed to have their legendaries on call far more than he did. But hell if it wasn't a comforting thought. "Not gonna lie? I'd buy it."[break][break]

"We're all just struggling together, in the end."[break][break]

"We" included Eris, who happily declared her intent to fight every legend. "Woah, woah, woah. And here I thought you wanted to be their friend and feed them all cookies," he reminded her. "But, if you're really gonna fight, guess I've got no choice but to back you up."[break][break]

Maybe she'd lead the way, just like she did in helping get these fireworks set up. "Well la-di-dah, little miss I know a surprising amount," he teased, his sarcasm just an expression of the fact that he was impressed. For someone who could be soe dumb, Eris really was a brilliant kid. Another thing they had in common.[break][break]

The weather was beautiful. The sands were packed and ready to go. The mount stretched proudly out towards the night sky. Now the question remained; which one? In true commercial firework fashion, every box seemed more insistent about how extreme it was than the next.[break][break]

"Well, we're already talking Pakia. How 'bout we kick things off with a box of Spacial Rends?"

No, really. He wouldn't. Maybe long after, some kind of story shared over a cup of tea or a campfire smore. But in the moment? It's absolutely terrifying. Even more so than the inevitable doom that will befall their world in the near future.[break][break]

"What colour are these?" It's a somewhat useless question when she's already setting things up. Light the fuse and they'd be able to tell almost immediately. Popping the cap and unfurling the fuse, she looks to the Ceruledge and begins to step back, giving him a quick thumbs up.[break][break]

"Light it up, and then BOOK IT!"

[attr="class","textbox"]Arceus, Isaac wished the world still worked the way Eris said it did. Fight, laugh, share cookies. In a world of Pokemon, everyone should be on the same page, and yet war, death, and conquest still loomed over their heads. Could Isaac ever hope to fight it?[break][break]

It was like how Eris could hope to kick his ass; she couldn't, but that wouldn't stop her from raging against the light.[break][break]

"You can try." He folded his arms, a daring smirk lighting up across his face. "But I dunno. Can't say I'm convinced. Pokemon, sure, you've got a shot. But, if you're gonna try and kick my ass?" Even before the unfair blessings of a very wet dog, he had the height advantage, the reach advantage, and grappling lessons courtesy of one Mr. Zev Harcourt.[break][break]

"We're gonna have a lot of training to do."[break][break]

There dropped the other foot. Isaac wasn't out to belittle Eris. He was here to build her up. The girl had eyes too big for her fists, and time and time again it ended up getting her in trouble. By a kid's standards, she was a hell of a fighter. By the standards she set for herself? She'd run into problems. But maybe now, with someone to guide her way, she'd be able to put her money where her mouth was.[break][break]

If Isaac was lucky, maybe she'd learn to temper herself, too. Finnegan Yang made that lesson all too clear.[break][break]

That said, she wasn't the only one who flirted with danger a touch too often. He nodded at her assessment of the fireworks, a proud smile on his face. "Good. So you do know your stuff." It had been one of his biggest fears about the whole situation, and why he wanted him and Regulus to handle the lighting instead of her. If something went wrong, he couldn't bear the thought of it happening to her.[break][break]

"Pinks, purples, and reds, mostly," Isaac said, knowing they were the warm colors to the Roar of Time's cooler colors. "And they leave trails across the sky before they explode, like little cuts across space itself. Pretty cool, huh?" Eris scurried back once the setup was complete, and just in case Isaac took that little protective half step up. With her command, Regulus let it rip.[break][break]

The Ceruledge, fearless as always, "booked it" with a few steps back. With nothing to fear from fire, he was content to get the up-close viewing most could only dream of. As Isaac promised, the Spacial Rends sliced a dazzling array of colors across the sky, each exploding in a pattern that resembled a ripple of cosmic energy. At times, they almost seemed to stretch high enough to reach the stars themselves.

She would not, in fact, try her luck right now. Not when there were cool colours to be seen. Reaching over to Reiner, she does her best to cover his ears with her hands, while he does his best to cover hers with his own paws.[break][break]

It's nowhere near as scary as the Roar of Time seen erasing people from the timeline up close, but the sharp way it whistles through the sky does send a shiver down her spine. Underneath the moon, how beautiful and vivid those colours are against the endless backdrop of night. And they sure are cheeky, false stars that they send up into the skies reflecting in the crashing waves and sea foam.[break][break]

[attr="class","textbox"]All that angry little tater tot spark evaporated the second the firework show began. Eris stared up at a sky of fake and real stars alike, her expression shifting to one of pure wonder and awe. Even with their ears all covered, Isaac could make out the reverence in her voice. Clearly, he'd made the right buy.[break][break]

"Hell of a show, huh?" he asked. Eris wouldn't even need to get up. Vivi's Psychic power was already priming and setting up the next set of fireworks, the Roar of Time half of the same box set. While the Espeon wasn't very common on the frontlines of battle, her precision at more domestic tasks was renowned. "And you haven't seen anything yet."[break][break]

As Regulus prepared to light the next set, Isaac shifted a little to turn towards Eris. "I meant it, y'know," he said, a soft smile on his face. "I know you've been fighting all your life. But that's only half the deal. Sometimes, you gotta take a step back, look how far you've come, and grab all that potential by the horns."[break][break]

"I dunno. We've got time to think about it. For now, how 'bout we kick back and enjoy the show?"[break][break]

The Roar of Times soared into the sky. If the Spacial Rends were little, sparkling slices across the sky, the Roars of Time were their polar opposites. They were subtle, almost invisible as they hurtled into the sky, only to erupt into massive pulses of azure light at the apex of their ascent. They were as loud as their namesake; Isaac cupped his hands over Eris' ears to make sure the poor girl was extra protected.[break][break]

At first, only one detonated at a time, though the sparkle-filled azure bursts practically demanded such gravitas be uninterrupted. However, soon they began launching in groups, each Roar being matched by an echo or two of its splendor. By the end, the sky lit up in a full barrage of Roars, enough to paint the night sky in daytime shades. When it finished, only a shower of sparkles was left, ebbing away like the grains of sand in an hourglass.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Look at how far she's come? As the beautiful reds fade into shining blues, she wonders just what she's done to reach this point. All the faded memories and fresh scars, the good and the bad...[break][break]

Everything seems so little in the vast expanse of colours and space. In a strange sense, danger is beauty - Things oh so capable of wiping out their existence, that had quite literally almost ended their lives, now inspire imitations for festivities. Perhaps, as the most human response to terror, people try to find the pretty little things that lay within.[break][break]

"Have you ever made your own?" Of course not, she realises as soon as she's asked. As the last bit of light flutters and falls like early snow, she pulls her hands away from Reiner's ears and playfully rests them upon Isaac's own. Knotted string and quiet wishes press lightly upon his skin, the gift he'd once helped to bring kept ever so close to her.[break][break]

"It's uh... probably a little hard to get the materials. But if I ever did, I could teach you."

[attr="class","textbox"]"Can't say I have. But I've been told I'm a quick learner." Isaac's thumbs gently hooked back to give the sides of Eris' hands a little pat. He helped protect her, and in turn she helped reinforce and support him. That was how it would always be. "Especially when I have a great teacher."[break][break]

That'd have to be another day, surely. They didn't have any of the materials, and this was too nice of a night to leave behind. But that was okay. "Another day" wasn't a hypothetical when it came to him and Eris. It was a promise, and one they'd make good on again, and again, and again.[break][break]

If they'd have to fix this whole damn region just to make sure they'd always have those days, they would.[break][break]

Next up would be the Distortion Worlds. These were a mass of clashing colors; blues and oranges, greens and reds, purples and golds, all going off in strange, wispy patterns high above the skies above. They almost seemed to bleed from one color to the next, as if the fireworks were as warped and unstable as the Distortion World itself was.[break][break]

"I teach you how to fight, you teach me how to make fireworks?" Isaac's smile was soft as he made his offer, backdropped by the endless array of colors that danced behind his head. Eris may have needed guidance, but she loved guiding others just as much. Perhaps a trade like this was the best way to help draw her out of her shell. "That way, we're both learning something new."[break][break]

New lessons. New adventures. New hopes. So many new reasons to keep looking towards another day.[break][break]

Maybe that was just what Eris needed.
