In response to the SHADOW MIASMA that swirled from Cillian's very being, Schuyler's own Pangoro bent down on its knee. Not necessarily an act of submission, but rather one that showed the aura seemed to affect it to some degree. Schuyler shot a glance back to his own pokemon in slight surprise. Once the influence had subsided, his Pangoro remained kneeled and Schuyler finally willed himself to speak.

"It seems you live up to your reputation," he remarked. "If it helps your research in any way, I wouldn't mind allowing you to test on my Pangoro."

The comment seemed heartless, to briefly relinquish a partner pokemon seemed like a death sentence. But there was something about the aura Cillian gave off that seemed almost... Soothing perhaps? To the shadow pokemon. Maybe exposure therapy could help ease the pain the process seemed to have on his pokemon. Eyes flickered briefly to the training area then back to the underboss.

"Maybe it would be better to get a field test and battle, if you have the time."

The word 'battle' seemed to stir his Pangoro once more as it rose to its feet. Cognizant of its trainer's words, it seemed ready and willing to fight. In fact, it seemed eager to take on someone with such influence. Perhaps it could innately sense the shadows that lingered under Cillian's command and found itself eager to battle something of equal strength, if not stronger.

Dodrio seemed like the perfect choice given its secondary flying type. At least it would prove for a worthwhile battle.

As Cillian's Shadow Miasma permeated the field, Schuyler took a deep breath. It seemed like a sort of camoflauge that made it difficult to perceive the other side. With his Pangoro already in a frenzy, the shadows that suffused the room left the fighting type disoriented. The Dodrio took courtesy of the first move, to which Schuyler nodded to the Pangoro.

"Strike it with a Low Sweep."

With the order offered, the Pangoro charged into the void and crouched low. While it attempted to strike the Dodrio, the move came as a miss. It seemed that it wasn't just Schuyler who had some difficulty seeing through the Shadow Miasma, as his Pangoro suffered the same slight.

"Shit, get out of the mist and let's regroup!"

But little did he realize, the Dodrio had the advantage of speed on its side. His Pangoro was a sitting Ducklett until the bird decided to make its strike.

Maybe it would have been easier to call the fight and return his Pangoro to its pokeball. But this is what the pokemon needed. An ability to overcome any obstacle in its way. The moment that the Pangoro hears the almost teasing caws of the Dodrio, it draws its fist back to aim a HAMMER ARM at the admittedly boisterous bird. Schuyler squinted a bit to try and make out the shadows deep within the battlefield. The movements seemed to dance within the shadows clumsily. The Dodrio well versed seemed nimble enough to avoid the attacks that his Pangoro shot its way.

And with every miss, the Pangoro grew more frustrated. Schuyler furrowed his eyebrows at the increasingly exasperated pokemon.

"Get it together! Swinging blindly won't do anything, you know better."

With the surprisingly encouraging words from its trainer, the Pangoro took a moment to recollect itself. Bracing itself, the pokemon readied itself to use its newfound shadow move, SHADOW BREAK. It was still a blind shot ultimately, but this time the pokemon seemed more concentrated, as though it attempted to listen for any steps or breaths that the Dodrio took before it made its move.
