For a second, Kazuya almost scoops Marilyn up in a fireman’s carry. But he remembers her earlier fierceness. And it isn’t like she was asking for it. Stuff like that—especially when it wasn’t necessary—could be seen as demeaning. His grandma would rather crawl than let somebody cart her around like a bushel of Babiri. So in the end, he grunts. “You’re welcome, ma’am.” The talk of Ludwig draws a smile onto the mercenary’s face. “Sounds like a good guy.”

It’d be nice if somebody could carry him for once. But it’d take a really special sort of person.

“Youth’s wasted on fools.” When Natsu turns to tease again, he finds his master’s golden eyes icy. Sure, they might kill innocent people, but there was no reason to disrespect an elder. Especially such a charming old bird. “That’s enough, Natsu.” The bear’s movements slow as his ears flatten against his head. Kazuya drops to give Marilyn his elbow.

But even this assistance does not allow them to reach the staircase’s peak. Once, to see if they were heading forward, Kazuya dropped a bit of virtual trail mix on the tread beneath them. When he looks back, the blue bit of chocolate stares back almost mockingly. Tired out by his earlier tomfoolery, the Bewear soon lags behind them. Eventually, the Pokemon collapses to his knees.

Kazuya follows him.

With growing irritation, Kazuya forces himself skyward until his legs tremble beneath him. His vision starts to flash from lack of blood flow as the air thins. But, when his knees fail, he begins to crawl. He drags his knees against the cool material until even his arms struggle to hold his weight. “RAH!" With a silent snarl, he collapses to his knees. A fist hits angrily at the cool substance beneath him as if striking out at heaven itself for his impotence.

The noise of that voice is banished with an irritable swipe. “You can take that circle and—” His normal voice ends in a blaze of static.

When he throws the headset, it shatters.

"I couldn't have said it better myself!" She responded enthusiastically. Youth was, truly, wasted amongst fools- the chairman of the prison, the guards that were considered his 'immortal' underlings, all those that thought it was in their best interest to try and short-hand their beloved granny. Such was an inevitable process of life, assuming that they all would make it that far. But Marilyn would go to any length possible to feel her mind and soul float out of her elderly body and into the shell of someone as beautiful as she once was.[break][break]

All to live on with those who had not wasted their youth- the ones that she had loved above all, the ones she considered her honorary children and grandchildren. And of course, those bound to her by blood that did not continue to stray.[break][break]

"Oh, dear Kazu, it's okay! Your little beary-boo is just so cute, even with its taunts." That was not a lie- it was just so precious, so vibrant with all of its colors and grins it possessed in its excitement. Had it been someone she had grown to dislike, her feelings would be different. But it was an innocent or perhaps not-so-innocent creature.[break][break]

Holding onto her newfound grandchild's arm with delight, and all the more exhaustion, she soon collapsed beside him. It wasn't the most painful feeling in the world, as it would have been outside of the simulation.. but it felt defeating, to say the least. The last time she tried to crawl up some stairs it didn't end well, so as she watched his crawling, all she did was sit and look up to hear or see anything this rather redundant-feeling reality had to offer. She plucked up a piece of the trail mix and ate it like popcorn at a movie theater, too.[break][break]

What was the central circle? Was it.. a metaphor for something? Her companion seemed to be exhibiting distaste, or rather upset, at the sound- but it was all so confusing.[break][break]

"My central circle is my family," she said raspily, spitting empathetic phlegm as she deduced it to be an insult as per Kazu's reaction, ".. you aren't my family, dear voice. Just a silly little thing that thinks it's hot shit because it made it up the stairs nobody else could."[break][break]

And then it all went fuzzy. Being that she was desperately attempting to keep a mental notebook of what she had seen, she figured it would be wise to find Kazu and transfer it onto paper. Surely he would remember more than she ever could. Taking off the headset and placing it on a nearby table with the help of those who conducted such experiments, and taking her midday pills, she giggled with delight.[break][break]

"That was so delightful," she said, ".. odd, but delightful!"
