What started as a simple Secret Base has since grown into a proper home of sorts. Found not far from the outskirts of Fortree City, a large treehouse has been set up in an equally large tree with three rooms. Each room was originally gazebo-like in build - but with the ever-chilling seasons, they have since been filled in with proper walls, with windows, doors, and insulation. These rooms are connected by bridgelike corridors - open-air but with a roof over the top to protect one from the elements - and beams have been set to help hold up the rooms, and put less stress on the tree itself.

The room that visitors will enter into - via a sturdy wooden winch-operated elevator - is the living room, which is the largest room and doubles as a kitchen. The center is kept clear for friendly roughhousing, and It is not uncommon for El’s pokemon to be found idling around here, relaxing amongst themselves and taking naps. It also doubles as a kitchen, having a fridge, a sink fed by a store of purified rainwater, and small cooking appliances such as a burner, a microwave oven, and an airfryer.

Next is a hobby room, which is dedicated to a number of El’s interests. There is a changing divider, full-body mirror, and a closet for cosplay - and it’s common for Sobek, their Fuecoco, to be playing with different accessories here. There are bookshelves with a number of boxes and books for games and reading alike, as well as a tv and console set-up for video games. Finally, there is also an electric-type generator kept here, that El’s pokemon charge every so often to help power the base.

And last but not least is the bedroom, a warm and cozy space. Aside from the basic amenities such as a bed, closet, and a desk, there is also a number of shelves and boards for souvenirs and knick knacks. These trinkets range from a number of flags from El’s own visits to other Secret Bases, to their old in-training Ranger badge and armband, to miscellaneous phone charms and keychains they’ve collected (both themself and as gifts from a certain Isaac,) a Cool Contest ribbon, and a couple of emblems, one for their placement in the 2023 Silph Cup and the other for the qualifiers.

Keeping to its Secret Base roots, visitors are plenty welcome under the watchful eye of El’s resident pokemon - and they are free to hunt down a flag, which is typically kept hidden in the bedroom closet. Oftentimes, the pokemon will try to provide their own little challenges and games to make it something that isn’t a boring straight-in-straight-out. All the while, the older and stronger pokemon present make sure that everyone behaves, and that everything is all in good fun.

El, quite frankly, was thankful that they had a few different fire-types living with them. Ranging from their lovable Sobek, to their sporty Lagombi, to even their recent acquisition - a Larvesta that they were still figuring out a name for (Shagaru, perhaps?) - they had, essentially, a number of living space heaters. Given their home consisted largely of wood, a fireplace or the like was a bit of a risky endeavor that they weren’t interested in taking a risk with...

... But who needed it, when their fire-types could help keep the place warm by presence alone, especially with the care they had put into insulating the place? Certainly, they had a few proper heaters as backup - especially for the larger living room - but it was a bit more energy-efficient to go about it this way, they’d found.

And of course, they were sure to spoil their pokemon well for the work offered - just as they did, for the power their electric-types provided. Plenty of treats, plenty of praise, and plenty of breaks. It was just nice, being able to snuggle up to Sobek at night and be perfectly toasty-warm, even in the coldest hours just before sunrise.

Perhaps, when they got the chance to, it’d be worth it to find a few more fire-types to befriend..? If these winters were only going to get colder year by year, then they should be prepared - especially if they ever get snowed in... More nonperishables and some bottled water would also be a good idea, most likely...
