Yumi descended the stairs toward Casino Starlight's front lobby with all the confidence and purpose of the woman who owned the place. Dressed in a tailored white blouse, black pencil skirt, and black heels, she was the perfect picture of a businesswoman.[break][break]

As the casino itself was open all day and night, she passed by guests and staff alike. The former who were regulars smiled at her and offered their salutations, while the latter stepped out of her way and inclined their heads in dutiful obedience.[break][break]

On her end, she spared them either pleasant smiles or passing glances, depending on their status. The purpose of her visit to the main entrance waited for her beneath the glistening chandelier.[break][break]

"Beast Volchitsa, good afternoon," Yumi said, extending a delicate, pale hand and a saccharine smile to the scarred woman. "Welcome to Casino Starlight, though I believe this isn't your first time. Am I right?"[break][break]

She vaguely recalled Marza Volchitsa's face amidst the crowd during the grand reopening party.

Facing women like Yumi Hasegawa had the interesting effect of making her feel far more war-trodden than she was in reality. There was the perfect foil of a woman, accomplished and powerful in her own right and she had no need to dirty her hands to get it. Then again, it probably would have been a kindness if her father hadn't dragged her through the mud in the beginning.

"The re-opening, yeah. Mei brought me along." That wasn't the truth, she'd hunkered over a glass of whiskey and fiercely ignored anyone that tried to talk to her until Mei forced her out of hiding. That was generally how things seemed to go now. "Impressive, what you've done with the place." She was only half-interested so long as there was alcohol and gambling, it wasn't a difficult impression to make. The state of the place didn't really matter though.

Yumi's eyes sparkled with amusement at the mention of her roommate and best friend, Mei Liu. The night of the grand reopening had been a whirlwind of activity; though she'd caught sight of Mei during it, she hadn't seen her friend with Marza.[break][break]

"Thank you," Yumi said, receiving the compliment with a preening smile. "Shall I give you a tour? That way you can decide how best to provide supplemental security for the holiday party."[break][break]

As they were already on the first floor, she started there, indicating with professional efficiency the various facilities and services provided to guests: the swimming pool, fitness center, sauna and spa, and salon.[break][break]

At the foot of the stairs leading up to the casino proper, Yumi raised her eyebrow at Marza. "So how do you know Mei? She's a good friend of mine."
