He'd only meant to be out long enough for a quick jog around the neighborhood, but Eddie's curiosity always had a way of getting the better of him. [break][break]

He'd heard about Rusturf Tunnel from one of the guys at the site he was working at, and Eddie had discovered that it was a relatively short jaunt away from his own apartment on the east side of Rustboro. Said coworker had specifically described it as a pretty convenient shortcut to the next town, which caught Eddie's interest. So here he was, new sneakers flecked with mud and his body uncomfortably soaked by the damp chill of the cave despite the warm fleece of the joggers and hoodie he wore. Eddie took out his earbuds, plopped them into their case, and shoved them into his pocket. The black-furred Tauros next to him snorted, hot breath wafting like steam in the cold of the tunnel, [break][break]

“Huh. Cool.”

Eddie kept his head on a swivel as he walked into the tunnel, scanning the ceiling, walls, and floor. He didn't want to catch himself stumbling over a rock and eating shit, or accidentally pissing off one of the local wild Pokemon. His diligence was rewarded when he spotted a lone Nincada clinging to a tunnel wall some distance ahead of him. Eddie wasn't particularly familiar with the Pokemon species, but to be honest, it's dark eyes and crouching body gave him the creeps. He gave it a wide berth as he walked farther into the tunnel.

For all of his attempts at vigilance, Eddie failed to notice the lupine figure in the darkness beyond until it surged forward with a rushing QUICK ATTACK. Eddie jumped back with a yelp, and Beau bellowed as he charged forward to shield his trainer. The attack landed, sending Beau skidding and tumbling across the cave floor, [break][break]

“Beau!” Eddie bellowed, afraid his friend had been seriously hurt. The bull quickly rose to his feet, snorting and stamping angrily at the Lucario opposite of him. The Aura Pokemon glowered at the both of them; what did it want? Eddie stared right back, brow furrowing as he tried to understand the Pokemon's intentions, [break][break]

“The hell's your problem?” Eddie growled, crossing his arms over his chest, “Am I steppin' on your turf or somethin'?” [break][break]

The Lucario went to bark something in reply, only to be sent flying by a charging AQUA JET. The wild Pokemon collided with a thunderous crash into the tunnel wall as Beau bellowed a furious war cry. Eddie felt a pang of pity as he jogged over to assess the damage. [break][break]

The Lucario lie slumped against the wall, deep cracks in the rock behind it evidently formed from his collision. The wild Pokemon winced as it tried to stand and failed. Eddie's inkling of pity blossomed into a rush of sympathy and concern for the creature, [break][break]

“I'm sorry, buddy. I'll get you outta here and get you some help.” [break][break]

Eddie gently tossed a Pokeball, hoping he could get the battered Aura Pokemon to a Center in time.
