There’s a wet slap as the Froakie’s tongue hits the front of Rose’s chassis, and then the long, low squeak of it dragging across. On the outside, it doesn’t look like the attack does much, but sticky tendrils of saliva seep into seams in the mechs frame, hitting her internal workings and sizzling. Small spouts of steam rise off of her, a screaming kettle fit to burst.

With jerky, mechanical movements, the Valiant attempts to grab the frog’s tongue and tug it forward onto another leaf blade.

The Froakie digs its heels in and uses it’s already open mouth to its advantage, firing off a hydro pump without being pulled into Rose’s attack--

--but Rose has had time to recover, the saliva jamming up her mechanisms having fully evaporated into steam. She wrenches her hand-servos wide, sticky with spit, and ducks under the spray of water, traveling along the line of the extended tongue to slice at the frog with spirit break.

Rose’s spirit break whiffs through double-team mirages. The Froakie hits the Valiant once more, knocking her back; she skids on her heels before jerking wildly like Mr. Crocker saying the words fairy godparents, then going stock straight and keeling over, hitting the ground hard and kicking up clouds of dust.

“Damn. That seems to be the theme of the day, unfortunately,” she says, recalling the Valiant. “Well. At least frog goo in the gears should be an easy enough fix. Thanks for the fight, hot stuff. I’ll hold you to that drink.”
