To show up without any attempt at even hiding yourself was either brave or stupid. Yet here he was once again face to face against someone he had hoped to see again, but this time bring them in to the League under arrest. But first he would have to best them in battle, and what better way than in this tournament. If he could defeat him once before, he could do it again. Smugly smiling, he would send out his Shaymin out onto the battlefield, a relaxed look on its face as it confidently thought victory would clearly be the only choice for them.[break][break]

Well. Stupid wasn’t really the right word. It was moreso he didn’t care. He was a little, no-name, rank and file murder grunt, one in a box of 6,012.

He didn’t rise to the bait. Not because he was better than Noel, or anything like that. He just didn’t care.

It seemed as if the time were words over. Here came the Pinsir threatening to kick Noel's Shaymin out with a powerful kick. Bracing for impact, the small hedgehog takes the hit head on but stays steadfast. Instead, it holds onto the bug's leg and begins to attack back with Zen Headbutt after Zen Headbutt against its shins. A crude method, but with enough force the Pinsir surely would fall.[break][break]

The Shaymin clings like a tick. Lucan squawks, perturbed by the hedgehog’s stubbornness, and does a fun dance where he flails his held leg and hops around on the other foot, trying to dislodge the thing, while the insect in question attempts to bite his ankles.

He ends up flopping forward on his front to try and thwack the Shaymin against the ground in a pilates-like move, trying to bash it against the ground with another superpower.

The Pinsir was much too stubborn to fall easily from this attack. While the Shaymin hung on for dear life, it continued its bash until the bug finally threw it off its leg. Skidding across the arena as it regained its footing on the ground, it charges up one more attack to unleash.[break][break]

Opening its mouth and with a powerful cry, a beam of light suddenly shoots out from the small hog. A Solar Beam big enough to destroy buildings would be aimed upwards against the Pinsir, so that even if it missed no harm would be done to the city.

The problem with the tried and true strat of charging headfirst into your enemy is that it leaves little room for what could be considered higher intelligence maneuvers.

Lucan takes the solar beam head first. The arena goes white with bright light. Onyx hurries to touch the Mega-Stone in his pocket. When the glow clears, Lucan has electric-yellow wings buzzing from his upper back. His whole front is blackened with soot, and he’s dripping plops of olive-green insect blood.

But he’s still standing. Enough to engage the Shaymin with a zig-zagging flight pattern (wow, he is capable of learning, Onyx thinks), to slice at him with X-Scissor.

Things just got a lot more troublesome for Noel and his companion. He knew all too well just how much a boost Mega Evolution gave to its user. If they didn't play their cards right, things could quickly get out of hand and into their opponent's favor. [break][break]

The Pinsir's movement's were too much to handle, the Shaymin's eyes just weren't capable of keeping up with the blinding speed that their newly acquired wings gave to them. Soon, it's sent reeling back as the foe's move connects, dicing the small creature with its sharp horns. Injured and bruised, it felt as if all hope was now lost.[break][break]

"Hmph, do you think that's going to be enough to help you? It's nothing compared to what we can do!"[break][break]

Instilling courage into itself, the Shaymin gets back up and readies its next move. Sending an Earth Power through the ground, it would travel all the way across to their opponent. Jagged rock soon spewed from the floor, all aimed directly towards the flying bug.

Whether an accident or diabolically on purpose, the earth power manages to strike Lucan’s wings, sending him teetering off course and crashing to the ground. He rolls like a pillbug, pops up, and tries to get in close again, hoping to snag the little hedgehog and chuck it with vital throw.

The Shaymin didn't think their opponent had the tenacity to stand back up after taking their attack directly like that. Unprepared for the grab, they're left to the whims of the Pinsir's scheme. Lifted up off the ground, its left danged up in the air by the bug's arms, its feet waving around trying to find solid ground. Finally, Onyx's Pokemon decides to send it off with a hefty throw, the Shaymin sent hurling towards a nearby wall, the move so powerful that a small crater is formed from the impact.[break][break]

The grass-type plops down to the ground, fazed by the rough handling it had just received, it would wake itself back up and retaliate with a move of its own. Deciding to take things safe, it shoots off a few Energy Balls to try and chip at the bug's exterior, doing any bit of damage it could against its opponent.

If there’s one thing Lucan had in spades, it was tenacity. Not brains, for sure, or really even loyalty, but an unassailable will to keep going. Onyx would say it was bone deep but Pinsir are invertebrates.
