elodie had barely managed to snath something to eat and drink out of a nearby vending machine herself before the next match had been announced. call it an oversight on her fault, because that's kind of what it was; she had been so excited at an event near hoenn just as she arrived that she really hadn't considered to study the layout of lilycove.

but she'd survive, if her opponent didn't mind the half-eaten granola bar in one hand and the pokeball in the other as she arrived on scene rather unceremoniously and very clearly having had to run to make it the rest of the way.

the man doesn't seem to mind that she's late- or maybe he does, and he's just not about to show it. but she wasn't too late, was she? wouldn't there be something if she was deemed a no-show for matches? and she hadn't been, so obviously it was fine, right?

before she can second-guess it any more, the pinsir lunges at her milotic. and, on instinct, the water type begins to move away in an attempt to get out of reach. it's the first time sprinkles hasn't reacted with an attack of her own, and elodie can't help but wonder what she's planning.

or hope that the milotic's marvel scales save her from the brunt of things.
