the greeting comes with a deep voice.

"do you agree to the rules and stipulations of this match?" he asks the gym leader. "the loser has to use the winner's surname for the entire day."

kyle faber just didn't have the same ring to it, and although noah lopez sounds sick as fuck, faber sounds just as right.

the poochyena stands proud beside kyle, both of them sharing the same vibe through the link brought by the sygna suit.

"any objections?" he asks him. "just remember that failure to properly mete out the punishment results to being arrested."

he whips out his cuffs and twirls them around his index finger.

kyle's smug aura resonates with the pokemon with their sygna suit. it stands proud against the threat that was poised to demolish it at any cost.

"but is it as hot as being called noah lopez?"

the second he said it affirmed his initial thoughts. it also doesn't have as much impact as he would've wanted since it's basically just a mirror of noah's own idea.

regardless of how the taunting went, the poochyena, itself, has made it a point to reflect its trainer's current mood with the way it vibed with the atmosphere. a taunt of its own is thrown to the toxicroak.

"y-y-you're supposed to act a bit f-flustered at least!" he'd whine amid his stammers.

the feeling is shared with his poochyena through the suit, but since the pokemon doesn't understand it, it doesn't seem to hinder its thoughts in battle. it had to attempt dodging the move, after all.

the strike was quick that both trainer and pokemon aren't sure if the taunt was necessary. it grazes it as it pushes itself sideways before lunging with a dragon hammer right to its ribs.

"how about kyle faber?"

"kyle faber?" noah pulls out his tera orb, gusts wreathing around his arm as brilliance converges upon its shape. "kinda choppy, right? doesn't have a good ring to it."[break][break]

unknowingly, noah affirms kyle's own opinion.[break][break]

the toxicroak hisses. crowned by the dark tera type jewel, it lunges with vengeful arc with a PURSUIT to close the gap.

that's not fair.

he wanted to say the last line, but he knows he couldn't since he's the one that set the stipulations of the match.

the poochyena is thrown off by the toxicroak's approach, its small and light body skidding against the ground as it rides on the force to carry it away.

the glint on its eye starts setting up the future sight of a delayed strike.

"w-well, you might get used to it. who knows?"

it's a loss for both him and noah if he loses, as far as he knows. he's not even sure if noah was just sweet talking him or if he really thinks so.

on hind sight, he probably does dream about being called noah lopez.

"what's stopping you from taking my surname then?"

too distracted by the chat, kyle's own confusion transfers over to the poochyena through the sygna suit's sync, causing it to panic in the midst of the fight against the toxicroak.

the poochyena dragon hammers the ground for a smoke screen, scattering dust and dirt in the area to blind the frog and give himself some breathing room.

he starts to ignore the battle, leaving the poochyena to fend off on its own while approaching noah. his eyes were trained on noah's, a mannerism that rarely surfaces from a non-confrontational person.

with the sygna suit on, the poochyena experiences a feeling that confuses him. it makes it difficult for it to take traction against an already unfavorable match up, but he trudges along.

he rushes forward, entering the toxicroak's range with a headbutt imbued with dragon hammer.

he closes the vital gear as soon as it registers the defeat. the poochyena is recalled back to its ball almost immediately, waiting for noah to do the same, before moving on.

"how about we get lunch together, and then, i guess, take kyle faber to do faber things?"

noah does always have the weird knack of taking something ordinary and turning it to a situation that shouldn't happen. it's always a disaster, but kyle is the type of person that thrives in chaos anyways.
