After having his hair shaved off in jail, it felt good to grow it long again. Though it did take a lot to take care of, Kazuya felt the work was worth it. In a soft voice, he simply offered thanks. This word of gratitude came not from his mouth, but from a little speaker at his belt.[break][break]

At the invitation, the mercenary grins wolfishly. His Bewear completely forgets its ice cream cone, letting it drop. “I’m Kazuya.” He gestures to the bear. “And this is Natsu.” The bear grunted. A chuckle emerged, lacking the reverberation typically associated with the noise. It seemed thin somehow, stripped of its warmth—a downside of the technology that let him speak. “Or, as he likes to be called, the winner.”

Now, however, he preferred to let his actions speak for him. “We shall see.” The former kindler murmured as the battle kicked off.

Today seems to be the day of water moves. This is the fifth or six of them that Natsu has encountered. Gold and ebony eyes meet as the bear glances toward his trainer. “Go forward.” His natural durability allows the bear to brave the powerful water attack. Though it hurts, the creature speeds up until his form is that of a train. Hoping to use the mist and spray as camouflage, the ursine feints at the Froakie.

As the Payback looks about to connect, the frog’s tongue snakes out to draw a line down the ursine’s face. That fist‘s connection is thrown off kilter as Natsu staggers back.

One mitten paw rises to wipe his face. The spot where the tongue touched is now flattened against his face. It looks like someone caked the bear with hair gel. And, while the few watchers giggle, Natsu doesn’t seem to get the joke. Sparks fly across the Bewear’s fur as he lurches forward with a Hammer Arm.

A quality that is to be admired, though not taken at face value. “I will cherish this day.” The taller man quips with a sideways smirk. Something about this man awakens a bit of his competitive fervor. Something he is surprised jail did not eradicate. It appears to have been in hibernation.

As the Smack Down erupts, the bear falters. "!!!" A shaking pillar knocks his left foot off its trajectory. His knee slams into the cement beneath him. This burst of pain throws his aim awry. Still, his shadow is falling over the Froakie. And, even if clipped, the dual-powered Payback is sure to do some heavy damage. Or, if that fails, the bear’s weight might make it hard to hop away.
