Thomas' next battle was with a Gym Leader. Cian Maher was a man he had never met personally, but had heard quite a bit about. The Rocket Defector that had given the League vital intel. Thomas didn't hold his previous affiliation against him. If anything, the fact that he finally saw reason, and risked his life for it won some brownie points with the former Elite Four.

With Ripper at his side, Thomas stepped towards the middle of the ring, to greet his opponent. "Let's have a good match.", Thomas called out to the Gym Leader, giving the man a respectful bow.

The Scizor was sent flying back by the point-blank Hydro Pump, before his Bullet Punch could connect. Despite this, the Scizor landed with a backflip. With a bloodthirsty grin, the Scizor lunged at the Froakie, attempting to strike the frog with a downward Brutal Swing.

As the Scizor was smacked down, the bug looked up in defiance. Suddenly, his body was engulfed in brilliant energy, Mega Evolution taking hold, before his form finally shifted.

The Scizor charged the Froakie, this time attempting to grab the little frog with his pincer, in a mock Bug Bite.
