"Huh." Doug mumbled from his end of the field, rubbing his chin whilst cocking his head. "Does he look familiar to you?"

No. Shut up, she was focusing here.

"No, really, this feels familiar, right...?"

Shut up.

"Okay, fine. Be like that."

Kama couldn't really speak or communicate in such a way, but Doug's vibe checking with his bugs was immaculate.

Ignoring his temperamental partner, Doug raised his arm from the other end of the field, smiling brightly at their opponent.

"Oi, I'm John! Pleasure to meet'cha, man! Let's have a good one!"

While John Sullivan peered at Temp oh so closely, Temp was indulging in a corn-dog. He didn't usually like fried or battered food but this one hadn't looked too bad... It was still too greasy on his tongue, but at least Doug got to watch the other swallow that wiener like it was his full-time job. Wink emoji.[break][break]

When he finally noticed the other, Temp gave a wide smile, the stick middle still between his lips.[break][break]

Hati, his Eevee, was sniffing at the remains from where she was perched on his shoulder.[break][break]

Taking a second to swallow and dust his mouth off from crumbs, Tempest offered his hand to the other.[break][break]

"Hey, man! Davey, nice to meet ya', John!" His disguise was just styling his hair different and drawing on some freckles. But, hey, at least he tried something.[break][break]

"I think you're my next opponent." Was offered, friendly, as he placed the Eevee on the ground.

Hmm... He looked more like a Norman if you asked him!

"Pleasure's all mine, Davey!" He replied cheerfully, totally not staring while he deepthroated his corndog. "And yeah; that would be me."

He half turned away from the other youth before gesturing with his neck for him to follow, leading him to the nearest arena. These tourneys really put into perspective how much of the zeitgeist revolved around pokemon battling... You couldn't take two steps without running into an arena!

"Ready to begin?" He asked the other youth from his end of the field, before whistling sharply to Kama.

Her eyes opened sharply, and she stepped forward and into the battlefield.

She. Fucking. Had this.

"Ready... Go!"

Immediately Kama lunged forward, racing towards her opponent— before suddenly leaping high in the air and swinging her scythes, an unseen explosion sending walls of wind hurtling towards the Eevee.

While Kama looked ready for battle, Hati jumped from side to side, raising her rump up and shaking her long tail sweetly in the air.[break][break]

"Good luck, dude!" Tempest called out, friendly, as the real battle started.[break][break]

When Kama lunged forward, so did Hati. With a snapping clip of her tail, frost started to gather from her maw as she kept her eyes locked on the other pokemon.[break][break]

She skidded to a stop, trying to adjust herself, surprised when the Scyther leaped into the air. Letting loose her Frost Breath upwards at the other to try and cushion the oncoming attack.[break][break]

Kama rode her own waves into the Frost breath attack, the walls of wind pushing away the misty attack as she rushed the Eevee.

A lucky choice that carried onto their next move— they just had to seize the opportunity it afforded them now.

Closer to the Eeevee now, Kama lunged for the little guy before suddenly dropping into a low sweep, her leg coming for the feline(?) swiftly—!

Tempest checked his Vital Gear, seeing Hati's HP drop by one point. Damn, must not have cinched that one out.[break][break]

Hati, meanwhile, shook herself off from the previous attack. It had the Scyther being closer, more up in her face- which was good, since she typically was all about that close ranged combat, too.[break][break]

She braced herself for the oncoming Close Combat, a sudden shift in gears having a large Burning Jealousy drip from her jaws. The molten flame fell in large drops like water as she aimed it for Kama.

As ever, Kama's confidence came to bite her back quick, blazing flames pouring out of the tiny Eevee's mouth and catching her while she was trying to be slick and get up close and personal.

With a yelp, she was scrambling back with burnt wings, hissing in pain. It just had to be fire.

Not too keen to get close anymore, the Scyther's arms blurred as she suddenly punched the air before her, sending walls of wind hurtling towards the Eevee with booming claps.

While Kama wasn't as keen to stay close, Hati pushed it. She did her best to stick closer, darting and weaving in a confusing dance over the battlefield.[break][break]

Tail glowing a deep navy, she tried to slam the Dragon Hammer against the other pokemon. This led her to crash right into the Vacuum Wave.[break][break]

Doing her best, she tried to push through the pain to have her attack land.

Pushing through worked out for the Eevee, her hammer coming down on the Scyther with severe force, sending skipping along the battlefield.

An experience Kama had become all too well acquainted with by this point in the tournament, if the way she managed to flip around mid skip to skid along her feet was anything to go by.

Not one she had come to grips with yet though, however, if the way her temper exploded next was anything to go by.

The Z-crystal around John's wrist came alive at that very moment, enveloping Kama in a powerful aura as phantom blades suddenly appeared and began dancing around her, growing to gargantuan size before launching into the sky and coming down to stab into her, sinking directly into her body.

As they did, her muscles bulged to grand size as she couched into a low stance...

Screw running around. If she was gonna get clobbered anyway—

She launched forward like a bullet, rushing towards the Eevee like lightning.

— then better to just take the risk and go all in.

TL;DR:
Kama used the Z-move:Z-swords dance!

The Z-Move boosted Close Combat slams into Hati, sending her flying through the air like a rag-doll. She lands with a roll, delicate brown fur coated in grit and sand. Pushing herself to her feet, she snarls and shakes herself out. Energy starts to collect around her-[break][break]

"Hold." A simple but firm order, making her pause. She glances between Tempest and Kama. With a quiet chatter, that to Kama would sound like a curse word, she holds herself back. Stalking around the field, she tests the defenses of the other with another Burning Jealousy.

Kama rushes through the flames to strike, her seared body seemingly ignoring the pain as she takes goes in for the shoulder cheek, her wings flapping madly to push her to go faster.

For his part, Doug sighed, crossing his arms. Seemed like the match was lost.

Like a bullet, Hati shot herself at the other. Draconic energy gathered around her in glowing navy, her small body warping and glowing like some fox-like dragon. She launched herself at the Scyther with a Devestating Drake.[break][break]

Tempest hummed from his side of the field, his own Z-Crystal glowing from the chunky series of bracelets on his wrist. It, along with his Mega Bracelet, Tera Orb, and Dynamax Band had been mostly hidden amongst the mess of old woven things from years gone by.

Casually, Doug tapped Kama's side, her wounds sealing closed in an instant as he patted her head.

"Ya did good, girlie. Rest up." He said, letting her sit down for a moment before turning over to his opponent, waving their way.

"Great work out there, mate! Good luck in the tourney!"
