Lucia had been taking her first few steps into the Safari Park while keeping an eye out for that elusive Charmander. All around here was wide open fields combined with tall brushes of grass and other such areas resembling habitats. There was something to be said about taking pokemon from the wild to stick them here of all places, but who was she to talk about that stuff?

Her first few steps brought her to a cute little pond area. She had been expecting more pokemon coming around but so far, nothing.

"I don't think a Charmander would be around here, but I guess it's worth looking..."

Footsteps brought herself closer to the edge of the water and standing on top of a rock barely touching the water. She took a moment to really take in the sights. Even if it was a little faux, Lucia watched the few signs of life around the water. A brush began to shake nearby which caught her attention. She swung around and nearly lost her balance on the rock just in time to catch a familiar shape peeking out of the brush.

"A Tatsugiri!"

A smile graced the child's face while she watched the small thing slithering all the way around to the water. A hand hover over her belt while searching for the best member of her party to fight with the wild pokemon.

"Um, let's see...Dragon and Water. So what would be best about it?...I should know this."

While the Tatsugiri took a moment to enjoy the water, the young trainer paused to rack her brain about what typing would be best in this fight. It had been stumped her for a while until she groaned and just threw out her Dunsparce.

"Go for it, Hero!"

The grass snake cautiously made his way to the dragon type before pouncing with a DRILL RUSH. The attack had caught the pokemon unaware and knocked it on its side.

This attack was followed up by Lucia throwing out her safari ball at the fallen Tatsugiri.

Lucia walked over and picked up her safari ball in one piece. She tossed it into the air a couple of times before stashing it back inside of her bag. Sure, a Tatsugiri was a little weak in terms of holding the battle by itself, but if she could get a Dodonzo, they'd get way stronger! Just one more pokemon to keep an eye on.

"Alright. One catch down, two more to go." she pumped herself up as best she could, "I know that Charmander's here somewhere. Gotta keep moving."

She set out back into the main area of the safari zone and continued her hunt. The brief walk through the brush didn't uncover a whole lot. She suspected that she could smell the scent of fire from far away. Having a tail with a flame on it would definitely would make that kind of sign of it being around. But sadly, no luck right now.

Across from her would be a lonely Combee. The bug type buzzed around in search of pollen and rubbed its body across the many flowers located around the corners of the zone. It was cute, but Lucia wanted to focus on a few more catches here.

Her journey took her once more into the water type section. Lucia walked up the stream while searching around for any interesting newcomers to her team, alongside the hunt of the legendary Charmander roaming around!

The Lucia Squad (patent pending) moved up the stream while listening to the sounds of nature around them. The buzzing of Combee wings was far off into the distance as above, some mysterious pokemon would watch their journey down below. The walk led them to a river bank where a wild Magikarp would be flopping around.

"Oh no!"

It cried out as Lucia hurried over to it. She didn't know what she should do in this situation. Didn't they live just fine outside of water? But it looked as if it could barely keep itself from jumping all over. She couldn't just leave it here like this! What if somebody came and snatched it?

"It'll, uh, be okay...I think! Jump in my arms!"

The Magikarp splashed around, bouncing all around while Lucia chased after it. The display was slapstick in nature and she only proved to tire herself out while trying to catch the Magikarp in her hands.

Five minutes later and she had stopped to catch her breath. Lucia hadn't made much leadway into helping the Magikarp but it wasn't exactly just working with her. By some stroke of luck, the pokemon bounced into her arms, causing her to fall down from the sudden weight. The spill onto the ground and caused one of her free Safari Balls to open and capture the Magikarp.

The trainer sat stunned at what had happened, a perplexed look glued to her face.

"Wh-What?"

After that little adventure, Lucia was off once more to find and claim her precious Charmander. She journeyed across the safari zone once more as the sun was beginning to settle down. Her spirits were lowered as she frowned.

Just then, she spotted a familiar shape. A gasp left her lips as she honed in on that which she saught.

"Is it really?..." she said, slowly creeping closer until a hiss caught her eye, with a stream of fire blowing in her face. But that wasn't just any fire type attack!

"EEEEE! Charmander!"

Lucia unhooked Hero's pokeball from her side and tossed him out. The grass snake appeared and rattled itself into a frenzy at seeing the aggressive Charmander. The trainer was pumped up, exerting a physical energy she hadn't felt in ages. A smile painted itself on her face as she was shaking in excitement.

"There you are! This'll make me stronger for sure. Ready to go, Hero?"

The Dunsparce nodded and launched himself into battle with the Charmander. He charged headfirst and used HYPER DRILL to land some well placed hits on the Charmander, though got roughed up in the process. Hero was pushed back some, wounded and on his last legs. But the Charmander was still healthy as ever.

"Come back, Hero! You did well." Lucia put him back into his pokeball for safekeeping and then called out Pinky. "It's your turn, Pinky!"

The Tinkatink swung its tiny weapon around at its foe and began the fight once more. She used some PLAY ROUGH attacks to pin down the Charmander. It took a hammer to its side before then countering with a FIRE FANG at Pinky's midsection. They two clashed against one another. The Charmander was still okay, but Pinky was pretty banged up. She rose her mace for a weak BRUTAL SWING before dropping to the Charmander's ANCIENT POWER.

Even Muck and Dusk were no match for the Charmander.

Things weren't looking too good here. Lucia looked down at her lone safari ball. She only had one shot at this, and this one looked ready to put up a fight still. But she couldn't send the rest of her team to get hurt still, could she? Just as she was considering her move, the Charmander launched itself at her.

"Augh!" Lucia stumbled backwards, feeling the pokemon attack her. She held her arms up to protects her as it tried to use its claws to scratch her. Just as she let her guard down for a bit, a sharp pain hit her left bicep as a shocked yell came from her. Teeth sunk into her arm as a hot sensation came after wards. She winced and pushed it away, scrambling back.

"Ahhhh....Hurts." she winced, though looked down as Hero had broken out of his Pokeball. Though wounded, he hissed at the Charmander while Lucia tried to crawl away.

"Hero, st-stop!"

The Dunsparce slithered to the Charmander, striking it with a Dragon Rush. It pushed the Charmander back some and weakly cried out. Lucia pulled out her pokeball and frowned to the Dunsparce.

"You can't fight like this, Hero! You need to get back in the ball!"

The Charmander sent an Ancient Power at the Dunsparce. It whined and fell onto its side, though still conscious. He pushed himself back up and readied himself.

"Hero!" Lucia cried, tears forming in her eyes. "Stop! Please..."

The Dunsparce puffed himself up, using one final DOUBLE EDGE into the Charmander as speeds that Lucia hadn't thought he could achieve. With a sizeable attack, the Charmander was KO'd by the attack, with Hero alongside it. Lucia quickly would go to her Dunsparce and pick him up.

He was alive, but exhausted. She hugged him close while looking at the Charmander before her. Using her safari ball, she threw it at the Charmander just as Safari officials had come rushing over to check on her. She slowly got up and allowed them to see to her wounds, though gripping Hero closely.
