Ettie really was racking up those vitals, whatever they were... She wasn't sure how many she needed to get, and only had a vague understanding of why; but she wasn't too worried about that, aside from just curiosity over the numbers.

Rather, Yip was raring to go for another fight - and Ettie was equally enthused to be cheering the mischievous Smeargle on. Who knew what their next opponent might bring to the table..!

[attr="class","kazu2"]A quick visit to a Pokemon clinic was enough to return Natsu to fighting shape. After a brief respite, the pair resumed the hunt. Golden eyes scoured the crowd for unfamiliar faces. The AR goggles helped separate participants from observers. Following a few losses, the former champion felt his pride rearing its head. Even Natsu’s normally placid face overflows with determination.

Finally, the pair’s attention falls on Ettie and Yip. Much older than Lucia—with sun-worn skin and a hound’s gait—she did not strike him as a creature who needed pity. With a glance at Natsu, the battlers turn toward her. As they approach, Kazuya bends forward. By doing so, he hopes to shrink his fame and lower his intimidation factor. “Afternoon.” His lips do not move but the words are clear as day. “I’m Kazuya.” He then introduces the bear beside him.

Natsu stares down the little painter. Ice congeals around one meaty fist. “Would you care to battle?”[break][break]

Ettie blinks a bit at the approach of Katsuya and Natsu - she doesn't seem much all that intimidated by either of them, instead curious and inquisitive. "Hello! Am Ettie! Is Yip!" She chirped happily, gesturing first to herself, then to the Smeargle at her side. And at the request for a fight, she nodded eagerly. "Can playfight! Lets go!"

Yip, perking up at the sight of the determined Bewear, would begin to bounce even more eagerly. Especially as Ettie terastallized her - taking on the paler-white crystals of Normal Tera!

Eager to start strong, the Smeargle wielded her tail as if it were a rifle - and for her first move, would fire off a Tera Blast from it in the form of a pressurized spray of white paint!

There is a reason his Pachirisu and former Raichu were his most stalwart companions. “It is a pleasure to meet you.” His lips did not move. But the deep, velvety grumble was audible all the same. [break][break]At the word ‘playfight,’ Kazuya fought the urge to correct her. No battle was truly safe—neither in this world nor the next. There was little play in this situation. [break][break]

Terastalization. This single word consumed the mercenary’s mind as the Smeargle’s body changed. Its creme body is now shown through a shield of glassy crystal. A strange, unbalanced chapeau balances upon the canine’s existing beret. Fortunately, its type remained unchanged. This would be a boon for his companion’s fighting-type moves.[break][break]

As the tail is pointed at him, Natsu rushes forward. Lowering his shoulders, he charges straight into the white paint. Once within range, he goes for a Cross Chop.[break][break]

Ettie recognized that even in play, sometimes someone bit a little too deep, or swung a little too hard. But ultimately, neither Ettie nor Kazuya were hunting one another, neither of them were fighting over resources, neither of them were enemies. Even if things got a little rough, the intention was still play in the end, right?

That being said though, Yip was certainly having a rough time from the get-go; the paint was not able to stop Natsu in his tracks, and the Smeargle gets chopped! She's sent reeling back by the strike, yelping a little as she bounces backwards a few paces... But as she regains her balance, she's immediately ready to hop back into the fray!

Eager to try and turn Natsu's move against him, Yip would Copycat it - swinging her arms forth in a Cross Chop of her own!

[attr="class","kazu2"]The Cross Chop sends the little vandal flying backward. Beady eyes slide back to his trainer, seeking approval and confirmation. This Natsu receives in the form of a solemn nod. “Keep it up.” While he would not destroy a downed opponent, there was still fight in the Smeargle’s gaze. With his trainer’s command, the Bewear steamrolls back across the battlefield. “Be careful.”

Kazuya knew that this dog’s main claim to fame was its ability to imitate. It allowed them to throw out moves that seemed strange and could prove devastating. But, much like a puppy first encountering a skunk, Natsu wasn’t aware of this creature’s secrets. All he saw was an advantage to press. So, the Cross Chop catches him in his gut. Though Fluffy deadens the blow, that’s balanced out by his weakness to his own type.

As he reels back, there’s a flash of maliciousness in his eyes. As he teeters forward, he throws out a Hammer Arm.[break][break]

As Yip manages to land a blow, the Smeargle snickers with a hue of playful mischief - it always seemed to take opponents off guard, when she starts Copycat-ing them! And trying out moves with Copycat, so that she doesn't have to worry about having to commit (like with Sketch,) was fun!

But, as a Hammer Arm swings forth, the Smeargle is just that slightest bit more nimble - darting around Natsu's strike! She bounces about a little, more or less running circles around Natsu - before deciding to try and attempt a point-blank Tera Blast at Natsu, trying to spray his face with paint..!

Ettie, meanwhile, made a happy little giggle as she watched the shenanigans at hand - letting out a little howl-like whoop to cheer Yip on!

[attr="class","kazu2"]It is interesting how differently people use these painters. Kazuya thought to himself as he recalled earlier battles. Their adaptability made these dog Pokemon a common sight in tournaments like this. Their ability to turn anything against you cements them as defensively strong. Then, there is the fact that they are lithe and flexible, their tail a darting chaotic thing.

The bear’s muscular fist whistles through the air. But, instead of hitting the target, it smashes into the cobbles instead. The overextension makes Natsu stumble. This proves a blessing. Though the attack lands, the white paint doesn’t blind him. Instead, it coats his ears and the top of his head—a wet, dripping sensation makes him shudder. While forceful, the ursine’s thick frame absorbs a lot of the attack’s momentum.

Shaking himself free of mess, the Bewear charges back in with another Hammer Arm. The response is full of rage and irritation. A trail of white follows his footsteps.

Yip is giggling as Natsu's covered in paint. Even if it's only the top of his head, it still looks a bit ridiculous! But, she quickly becomes aware of the rage in the Bewear's demeanor - and the fact that the ursine fighter was charging right at her..!

Yip hops back and back to avoid the enraged swings, trying to create distance between herself and Natsu. But as she does, she is painting something around herself - something in pinks and blacks and a touch of white...

... Until she Transforms into a fascimile of Natsu! Then all of a sudden, she's no longer falling back. Instead, she's charging forward - making to try and slam into the Bewear with a Super Power..!

[attr="class","kazu2"]Kazuya sighs. It appears his young friend is hotheaded. He knows there is no reason with the bear in this state. He would have to be stern to stop him. And, he did not wish to take away any of his momentum. While control was optimal, there were times when rage was the required tool.[break][break]

Again and again, the bear swings at the dodging little menace. The dancing of its feet only seems to enrage the ursine more. Like a circus bear, Natsu stumbles after Yip. The movements are graceless in comparison. Then, he finds himself with a square of empty air around him. “Wear?” He peers through a curtain of dry paint as the Smeargle begins building something.

“Haha!” Kazuya’s exclamation—accompanied by an actual physical mouth movement—is full of warmth and phrase. What a wonderful use for a Smeargle! The Bewear is less amused. But too stunned to immediately respond. The Superpower shakes him. Only when the paint imitation is within arm’s reach does the fighting type respond. He aims to punch through the illusion with a powerful Hammer Arm.
