“Well, you’re getting one of, if not my best-known avians to scrap with,” he continued as the blue-plumed, shiny Braviary came in for a two-point landing, spreading his wings before allowing him to give the Pokémon a chin scratch.

“Yeah, I see what you’re planning, let’s go!” he went on; unable to resist ribbing the other into action.

And there it was—the flash of light was his split-second warning that shit was going to get really explosive, all things considered, so without further ado he’d reach for a certain orb; and all but practically yeet it at the avian who let out a squawk of surprise the moment the Electric-type attack came crashing out!

Not today, though! he thought to himself as the burst of light that followed afterward revealed the funny-looking ‘diagram’ of the world in all its glory; before the Braviary would close the distance in an attempt at an Aerial Ace attack!

“Look, Matias, you’re Elite Four, and I’m a Gym Leader. Of course we should have our best feet forward!” he teased the other from his side of the field.

While the Meowth was trying to find their bearings, the Braviary would retaliate the Shadow Claw with a surprise Rock Slide of his own; mostly because those claws were really fucking sharp and he did not want them near his eyeballs at all!

“So how is it, being Elite four? All cooped up in Evergrande or you get out in the field more often?” he’d ask the other man.

“So it’s just battle arenas you have out there then?” he confirmed; keeping an eye on the Meowth in case something happened—while he was surprised to see the Normal-type take the attack to the face; he realized that it was just a ploy before said Meowth came screaming back with an attack of equal measure!

“Time to fly.”

With that, the Braviary then made a crazy attempt to grab the Meowth before suddenly flying skywards; in an attempt to bring it into range of his Sky Drop attack!

Another loud yowling noise comes from the Braviary while the Meowth takes a potshot at him in mid-air; those claws seriously hurt!

Never mind if they were in mid-air, the blue-plumed avian Pokémon would then fly straight back down; but not before lashing out with another Aerial Ace attempt!

Down on the ground…

“I haven’t seen your Sword of Justice around lately—are they alright?”

Honestly, where was Virizion? Running around the region with their fellow Swords in arms, or something?

He knew the other would go almost everywhere with the green Sword (the one he secretly called ‘Aramis’ in his head) but honestly—

Imagine the hoohah if people entered the tournament with high-profile legendary Pokémon!

(It was also why he chose not to enter with that one, as he wanted to keep their existence a secret from other prying eyes as they could be everywhere…)

“I’d want to meet them again if you have the time to spare!” he continued as he climbed up on the stage to fetch his Braviary already being showered in confetti and glitter, who let out a tiny little squawk in the Meowth’s direction.
