Pierce's father never wanted a child. As Castelia's Police Chief, he barely had the time. Yet his wife managed to get pregnant anyway, and so Pierce was born. His mother, from what he can remember at least, was doting and kind... the perfect mother really. His father, on the other hand, almost pretended that he didn't exist unless it benefited him in some way. Pierce was always walking on eggshells around his father, as was his mother. Being the Police Chief, he was unfortunately well protected by the force.

When his mother got sick and moved into a care center, he was fifteen. Pierce was expected to pretty much take care of himself, but on top of it all, he also had a never ending list of chores. When he inevitably couldn't finish them, or do it to his fathers liking, he was beaten. It didn't really take much to earn one either, and by his later teen years Pierce found himself often skipping school to hide the bruises to the point he failed. Of course, that didn't come without more punishment, building a rage inside him but there was nothing he could do about it yet.

His mother was released from the care center, assumed to be getting better. Pierce stayed at home to take care of his now frail mother and works nights as a tattoo artist, but it only lasted a few years before she came out of remission and this time she didn't recover. Sticking around long enough to attend her funeral ceremony and to receive the ashes, Pierce hopped on the first plane out of Unova and ended up sitting next to a Hoenn Rocket member on their way to the region, and got recruited along the way.

Personality ─ To most, Pierce puts up a front to protect himself. He's an introvert, quiet, moody and broody, sarcastic, untrusting/slow to trust, cynical, snappy. However, when he's with someone he really trusts he can be playful, silly, and relaxed; a much different person than he leads everyone on to believe, and a very rare side to see.
