"Oh! 'ello, Mr. Silph! You well?" He called out cheerily as he stepped into the stadium's waiting room, noting the man. "Was the meeting fruitful?"

He had heard of the 'Gym Jam', as they called it. The few 'official' Gym leader meetings back in his day had been social outings, rather than pure business. He was curious as to what they were up to. Had they finally unionized?

Lmao, as if.

"Ready for the smoke?" He asked the other man cheerily, making use of gen-alpha lingo as the large doors leading into the battlefield beginning to open slowly, letting light and the booming screeches of the crowd filter into the room.

"Oof." Is about the only response they need.

It seemed as though some things never changed... unfortunately.

Doug regards Fernando's choice in partner with an appraising eye— or perhaps a healer's one? He doesn't immediately note any issues as his own partner, a Scyther, steps out of the waiting room and leaps into the arena, shaking off a towel off her head which he catches lazily.

He's seen that Glalie a couple of times before— heck, if memory doesn't fail him, it's Fernando's choice for Sygna. He wonders if the man would tell him about, if he asked.

Perhaps uncharitably, he wonders if there's anything to tell.

Meanwhile, Kama nodded at her opponent, her signal that she was ready to begin. Fernando might recognize her— if he could remember first meeting Doug as a gym challenger, at any rate.

"Go." Doug gave the order, and immediately Kama's arms blurred, two sonic booms following the motion as walls of cutting wind hurtled towards her opponent, leaving cutting marks along the arena's floor as they advanced.
