[attr="class","abadthing"]jomei left little root with more questions than answers; but hey, at least he had a pokedex. and a lefeon. the not so little guy started following him around as soon as he left the city limits. weird. now shikka was taking a liking to the older more mature grass type. hopefully this wasn't a budding romance. he'd snip that real quick.

[attr="class","abadthing"]a massive bird came barreling down at them, and saint john had to pull the chikorita out of the way. the leafeon bared its teeth before causing the leaf atop her head to whisper in the wind, using grass whistle on the swellow. the bird dropped from the sky as it fell into a slumber.

jomei watched with a frown and whispered, "let's get moving." before sneaking off back into the woods. hopefully they were going the right way.

[attr="class","abadthing"]they had only been walking for a half hour or so when, suddenly, razor sharp leaves started to fly at them. "sh-shikka!" jomei yelped, and the chikorita summoned a reflective barrier that stopped the onslaught of nature. jomei hid behind the psychic barrier as he desperately called, "john do something!"

the leafeon was more than happy to be of assistance. the little sprout atop his head began to glow with green energy, before a viridian leaf blade sprouted forth and the leafeon slashed at a nearby bush that had been the source of their problems. growls and odd noises could be heard before saint john came out of the foliage with some weird... bug (?) pokemon in his mouth. curiosity overcame jomei and he pulled out his pokedex for it to scan the creature.

"well, never seen one of these before." jomei admitted before tossing a red and white ball at the passed out pokemon. "maybe it'll be some help in a gym battle with those stupid leaves." he noted sourly as he checked himself for cuts. thankfully, the reflect had taken care of that.
