Masha was starting to get tired.

Maybe it had been a dumb idea in the first place, putting out an ad to battle someone her age. She knew that age didn't necessarily mean her opponent would be as inexperienced as she was. But it was worth a shot. She was scared to battle anyone who was older, that was the honest truth. She didn't want to see her pokemon get too hurt, especially the first time around. It frightened her a bit, the thought of watching them get attacked by another trainer's pokemon. But that was the nature of battling, right? That was the point.

Tabitha was playing in the grass nearby, rolling straight through her litwick, Flicker, then rolling back again to her starting position. Each time she passed through Flicker's ghost-like form, the candle pokemon laughed in what almost sounded like a high pitched shriek. Masha was used to it by now, but it still sent a slight chill down her spine on occasion. And besides that, neither pokemon was as temperamental as her Banette, Matty.

They were all near the edge of a pond. It was a nice day, one that was now slowly winding down, ready to bleed into night. Masha stood with her arms crossed, facing the water. Her head was tilted down, her lips curled into an ugly frown. She groaned loudly and pulled at the ribbon in her hair with force, enough to cause her scalp to sting.

It had been a while since he had had a good battle. His last one had been with , which had ended with him getting his second gym badge. After that, he had gotten so caught up with stuff to do that he hadn't had enough time to do any more battles.

Perhaps it was high time he got more battle practice.

Replying to the wanted ad for a battle, he inquired if she was still looking for a challenger and if it was okay if he was a little younger than what she was looking for, with him being fourteen and all. Hitting send, he decided to wait for a response.

Once he got a response, he would hop off Mistral, his Swellow, and make his way to the destination he had been given.

Reaching the destination, he would be met with a young woman a bit older than him, with hair as dark as his was light.

"Hello, you're the one that sent out the battle request, right?" he inquired once he had landed. He was sure it had been her, but it was always good to make sure.[break]

Masha looked up at the sound of someone stepping through the grass. She saw him then, a boy who'd said in his message that he was fourteen. Slightly younger than she'd wanted, but she also couldn't afford to be picky at the moment. She stood up as he approached, the cadence of his voice reaching her just fine above the gentle breeze that played with her hair. Masha nodded. "Yes, that was me." She took a step towards him. "Single battle, one pokemon and one round." Masha turned to Tabitha and motioned to the eevee.

Turning back to her opponent, Masha set her feet into the ground and straightened her back, narrowing her eyes slightly. 'i'm ready when you are."
