One of the rules of an assassin was to never go into a situation blind. And that didn't only apply to dealing with people but also to the location. No one could really know what kind of secrets a building was hiding.

That's why whenever he had a new mission or assignment, he always made sure to thoroughly scope out the situation before getting involved. That way, he could avoid any surprises.

Most of the time, anyway.

He still wasn't entirely sure what was expected of him for this assignment.

Although that had nothing to do with scoping out the situation, but rather with what his superiors wanted from him.

He followed the older male, stopping when he did. As the order was issued, his eyes were already scanning the building, taking notice of every entrance. There was a front and back door, but both were obvious choices and probably secure.

An open window could provide a way of entering, but there was no ladder around. Even if there was one, using a ladder would definitely be noticeable, not to mention stupid. Not that he would really need to use a ladder to crawl through an open window.

He knew how to scale walls, something he had picked up during his childhood but had never forgotten. And despite his height, he was agile enough to pull off going through a window if he had to.

The real problem lay in Theo's skills. Depending on his skills, some of the options might be out the window unless he went in first and let him in. But he supposed that before coming to a decision, he should ask first.

Contrary to belief, despite his obedience, he was not stupid. Sure, he wasn't exactly book smart, having never had a formal education, but there were other smarts than just book smarts. Like being street smart or being good with strategies or having common sense. Those were more the smarts he leaned towards. Which was why he was immediately able to realize that by "his help" he meant hoist him up.

Of course, getting what he meant wasn't hard. It helped that he hadn't really been expecting him to know how to scale walls. He just had to ask to not assume things. Scaling walls wasn't exactly a common skill, but on one hand, it was definitely a skill he could see his fellow rockets knowing.

His own skill had been picked up as a kid and had never left him. His mentor, on the other hand, had been like Theo in the sense that it was a skill he didn't possess. So getting into a position to help hoist him up didn't take long.

After helping the older male through the open window, it wasn't long until he was given all the care. It didn't take long for him to scale the wall and hoist himself through the open window. His landing was silent as he landed beside the older male.

Upon getting inside the room, his eyes scanned the room, taking in the layout. From the looks of it, it seemed to be some kind of storage room. Either that or the people weren't very good at keeping the place clean.

As expected, the door was on the other side of the room. After making sure there was nothing in the way that could be knocked into, he would begin to make his way closer to the door.[break] THEO BECKETT

ryker hayes's first and likely last mistake they could afford to make is assuming the room is clear and safe after one scan. on their way over to the door, they pass by a sensor running along the ground, and though no alarms activate yet, trouble will soon come their way.[break][break]

Having grown up where he had as well as his stint of being alone had left him limited knowledge on the workings of technology. He still worked with the mindset that, when it came to an alarm system, he should keep an eye out for trip wires. So the idea that there were other means of sending an alert didn’t even cross his mind as he proceeded to cross the room after scanning for trip wires.

Though he was wholly unaware of the sensor, he was far from stupid. Instead of blindly charging outside the door, he did make sure no one was on the other side before opening it and slipping through to the other side.

As expected, it would be a hallway they found themselves in. After making sure both directions were clear, he would choose the direction that would take him to the place that had been indicated on the blueprints he had looked at earlier.[break] THEO BECKETT
