Compared to the Giant Chasm, this next area—promptly titled ‘Area Zero’, was literally an unknown canvas.

Which meant that there were countless mapping requests so that data could be compiled together in order to make a comprehensive reference point for the entire place…

And that fell into the Rangers’ hands; mostly because they were supposed to know the lay of the land better than anyone else—at least when wild, unknown locations were the front and center of everything.

Today he would be accompanied by Emmett, and he hoped the other young man wasn’t going to be bored out the ass.

(Well, he tried to pick the thing that involved the most amount of shit done tied with the least amount of trouble, at the very least.)

“Are you ready?” he asked the other, tilting his head in the direction of the vast, unexplored wilderness that lay before them; ripe for the picking.

“Well, would you prefer scouting or chasing down whatever those weird… those weird Pokémon are?”

He wondered if the other knew of what had happened in Oldale—the way those strange ‘paradox Pokémon’ had poured out of the Giant Chasm; of how they looked like mockeries of the Swords of Justice that were currently accompanying two of the current Elite Four (and the current Champion)…

“Because either way, if we get into trouble—we’ll have to be careful because these Pokémon that call this place ‘home’ are stupid strong.”

Much as he wanted to voice out his thoughts, he decided to save those for later, because hopefully this was just going to be a quiet exploration of the place.

“Anything interesting we locate, we either haul back or take pictures of and send out a recon party to secure it,” he added as he rolled his shoulders and got ready to move out.

“Shiny rocks? That seems safe enough,” he would nod as he looked upward; towards the ceiling.

As long as the creepy-crawlies and the fuckin’ arachnid heebie-jeebies stayed the hell away, then they could bring back some nice samples and be done with this place.

(Alas, though, as they were Rangers who were supposed to know the lay of the land… they were going to be stuck here for a while, all things considered.)

He would then pull out a Safari Ball and in the burst of red light; revealed his Gardevoir who would look around their area in quiet wonder.

“Hopefully we don’t run into any complications.”

Which was easier said than done!

"Keep jinxing us, why don't you?" As always, Emmett pays no attention to their supposed ranks as he rolls his eyes and move onwards. As far as the layouts of these caves go, he knows well enough that no paradox pokemon have been spawning in these parts.[break][break]

"Got some kind of notebook to sketch where we're going? Or you mapping it out with a Rotom?"[break][break]

Heaven knows he has neither. Sure, he could loan a Rotom from the rangers and it would make his life much easier. But all the paperwork that he would have to do... that just makes it unappealing.[break][break]

The ceilings droop pretty low but thankfully, he's of perfect height to stand without having to bend in the slightest.[break][break]
