The scent of the warm air and fresh foliage was lifting as Zachary and his Pokemon passed through the forest and following the stream that led down the path to the Fortree city. SPring was coming. The long months of winter were starting to fade, and now he could see it. Tree branches with buds starting to form, more rain than snow-- and more life springing back. It was refreshing. While Zachary had a fondness for winter and snow... it felt good to not worry about bad weather and bask in comfortable spring winds. [break][break] He wouldn't be the only one enjoying this-- as besides new people would be around, but also new Pokemon would come up and welcome Spring too-- either returning from a long hibernation or blossoming with the change of seasons...[break][break]

The return of spring is always a delight. On her usual morning stroll Wendy pauses for a moment listening to the cheerful melodies of taillow who have returned after a long migration. A pansear followed her closely he would stop every once and awhile to admire the white daisies which were beginning to bud.

Not being very observant the pansear accidentally bumped into Zachary. He looks up towards the trainer and tilts his head in confusion, before quickly dashing towards Wendy for protection.

"I'm sorry about my pansear, he's real shy and clumsy" Wendy walks towards Zachary upon seeing the interaction, rosy lips curving into a slight smile. "He didn't hurt you did he?"

Zachary wasn't fully paying attention, taking in the sights and smells around him. As was Dizzy, soaking up the far warmer sunlight that felt like a boost to his body. The fox was in a great mood in the sunlight. They didn't know others were there, and the one about to bump into them. [break][break] The small bonk to his knees made Zachary pause, unsure what he hit till he looked down. He saw the adorable red-colored monkey. He wasn't bothered in the least as he soon saw the little guy look up. He gave a smile and waved. [break][break] Dizzy was a bit more perplexed, as he acknowledged the fellow fire type. [break][break] As the Pansear retreated, Zachary looked to find it belonged to a trainer, a young woman nearby. She was very pretty as he waved to her. "Hey there. No worries. Your Pansear is pretty cute," he said happy to meet them. Dizzy gave a friendly bark to her as well, his tail wagging a bit in his good mood. [break][break] Dizzy approached the Pansear with a friendly sniff and bark hoping to get the little guy to open up. As he did, Zachary looked to the lady. "I'm Zachary. It's nice to meet you. Are you a trainer too? " he asked. [break][break]

Wendy laughs gently nudging forward her pansear encouraging it to be more confident. "My, that is quite a sweet compliment" she glances towards Zachary's delphox and her expression softens even more "What a magnificent delphox you have at your side. " Wendy knows that Delphox are rather high-maintenance pokemon; it was truly impressive to see one with a beautiful coat.

"Pleasure to meet you Zachary, my name is Wendy." She gently shakes her head to his inquiry "afraid not, I run a restaurant in Fortree city it's called the Flying Nest." Her pansear takes more to the delphox, giving the fox pokemon a cheerful wave.

"It makes sense that you are a trainer, I can tell you take care of your pokemon well."

Dizzy gave an embarrassed bark as he gave a smirk on his foxish-face. Zachary shook his head and chuckled. "Thanks. It's been a good few years to have him grow up, and all before I became a real trainer," Zachary said modestly. [break][break] A restaurant owner was a cool thing, for sure. Zachary fancied himself an amateur cook himself, enough to feed himself, treat family and friends-- and of course know how to serve his pokemon a good meal. [break][break] As Pansear began to warm up to Dizzy, the fox greeted too-- the two exchanging some vocal calls to converse. However-- the big one was Dizzy's stomach suddenly growling, perhaps at the mention of a restaurant. [break][break] "Really? I should go there sometime. What kind of --" [break][break] Zachary was interrupted by the call of a bird stole his attention. He looked up into a nearby tree as the flap of small wings caught his attention. There, in the tree, was a bird Pokemon he quickly recognized! He had not seen one since he grew up in Johto! A Hoothoot! The funny looking bird was perched on a nearby branch in a tree, taking in the scene, minding its own business. [break][break] Zachary's eyes widened with interest. "Oh wow! A Hoothoot! I been wanting to find one!" Zachary said, mesmerized by the 'mystery' the little bird had. An owl like that, and what it became when it evolved. While some called it simple, Zachary saw mystique in it. [break][break] "Maybe I can get closer." he thought aloud. He wasn't trying to ignore Wendy-- but it was clear this was a Pokemon Zachary really wanted. [break][break] Dizzy continued to watch, while hungry, to see Zachary approach the tree the Hoothoot was in. The boy dug through his pack, soon finding a granola bar, figuring he could try to feed the owl to keep it from flying away. [break][break] Dizzy watched as his trainer began to climb up the tree, slowly reaching the branch. [break][break] The fox soon signed and shook his head, embarrassed by Zachary's over-eagerness to try and converse with the bird. [break][break] But what the fox didn't know, and Zachary did-- was that Hoothoots and others of its species, were incredibly intelligent. A Pokemon worthy of a Psychic trainer, especially for the wide range of psychic moves it was known to know. [break][break]

She was well aware of how much went into being a trainer; and her first impression of Zachary was that he was a very attentive and caring trainer. There were plenty of different types of trainers out in the world, and not all of them treated pokemon as kindly as Zachary did.

Wendy smiles hearing Dizzy's stomach grumble, she reaches into her leather satchel and pulls out a freshly baked pokepuff. She takes a moment to peel away the decorative fire-type wrapping and beckons for her pansear. Her pansear quickly obeys it receives the pokepuff and runs over to Dizzy. The pokepuff is rather large resulting in her pansear to break it in half to share with Dizzy before offering it to the fellow firetype.

"Oh I do-" Wendy was about to answer Zachary's question but is cut off by his sudden shout of enthusiasm upon sighting a hoothoot. She is surprised by his sudden outburst but smiles and softly chuckles finding his excitement to be endearing. She observes as Zachary attempts to befriend the hoothoot, blinking when he decided to climb the tree in attempts to reach it.

Once more Wendy chuckles, finding this ordeal to be quite amusing. She respected his devotion and watched from the sideline alongside their pokemon with admiration.

Dizzy didn't see it coming but the offer of a special poffin made the fox's ears go up and an expression of joy! Zachary's food usually was more generic while they traveled-- and missed the day when Zachary cooked . Their time on the road made that not possible, so it was lovely for the fox to get a taste of a Pokemon Poffin. Dizzy gave a grateful bark to the Pansear and gently took the half and nibbled it with gratitude to the little monkey. [break][break] As Wendy and Dizzy watched as Zachary climbed the tree, Hoothoot tilted its head, soon spying Zachary along the base of the tree. He got up enough and the owl hopped on its leg back a bit, nervous. [break][break] "It's okay! It's okay... Hi there. Sorry to startle you. You want a snack little birdie? " Zachary asked, as it took the granola bar and broke it into smaller pieces while still clinging to the branch. The owl cocked its head about as Zachary placed the crumbs on the broad branch. [break][break] It paused a moment, but soon hopped forward. After a moment, the bird lowered its beak and pecked at it. it began to eat the food, then ate it more with fervor, as if it had not eaten in a while. [break][break] Zachary smiled, glad he could make the little owl feel better. "Wow you must of been hungry. I'm glad I can help." Zachary said, smiling. The hoothoot became less on guard but--[break][break] "KREEEE!!" A shriek called through the air. Zachary looked as soon a black blur darted across his vision-- and rammed into the Hoothoot. The sheer appearance made Zachary loose his balance, falling from the tree! [break][break] Zachary tumbled down to the ground, alarmed as he looked up. Dizzy too looked alarmed, seeing the black blur. It soon stopped, as Hoothoot was also knocked to the ground, hurt by the attacker. [break][break] Flapping its wings, was a rather large black crow of a pokemon, with a crown of feathers unusually sinister. IT glared with sharp eyes at both the humans and pokemon there. [break][break] Zachary slowly recovered and got out his pokedex. [break][break]

" Honchkrow, the Big Boss Pokemon. A nocturnal bird, Honchkrow acts as a leader guiding its flock of birds. It commands complete obedience and orders several Murkrow and other birds to follow its orders, even to cruel means.

[break][break] The Honchkrow gave a deadly glare and cry at the Hoothoot, almost as if belittling the bird. The poor owl was on the ground, slowly getting up, to recover from the rude shot. The black bird then proceeded to eat the food greedily that Zachary had laid out for it. [break][break] "H-Hey! Stop that! That's not for you, you jerk!" Zachary shouted, getting up to his feet. [break][break] Also angered by the mean bird's attack, Dizzy shot up and took out his stick. Fire burned at its tip as he growled. [break][break] Zachary quickly got to where Hoothoot was, scooping up the poor owl to protect it. [break][break] The confrontation and lack of respect-- made the Honchkrow leer at them. With an angry cry-- the bird began to Persuit towards them! [break][break] Dizzy gave a bark and with it-- blew out a solid stream of fire, attempting to ward off the black crow! [break][break]

Wendy was elated to see Dizzy enjoying the poke puff. She smiles as she observes Zachary's interactions with the hoothoot, it was quite wholesome to watch as he attempted to befriend the wild pokemon by offering some food; which was quite smart. Continuing to observe from a distance, Wendy momentarily closed her eyes as a gentle breeze passed through. The calm weather and pleasant conversation only added to an already beautiful day.

but the peace was interrupted - by a disruptive honchcrow. Wendy is startled by the sudden threatening cry, she quickly looks over to see Zachary under attack by a hostile pokemon. She wastes no time coming to Zachary's aide, with a swift hand motion she tosses out her dragonair's pokeball.

Her dragonair emerges it's serpentine scales glimmering under the sunlight. "Flow, I need you to scare off that honchcrow." Wendy points towards the honchcrow with her hand; flow responds by dipping her head in acknowledgement. Without needing the instruction of Wendy, Flow conjures a thunderstrike nearby the honchcrow in attempts to scare it off.

Wendy steps towards Zachary, her dragonair swift to follow.

"are you alright, Zachary?"

The appearance of the Dragonair was a welcomed surprise as Zachary ran for the injured Hoothoot. The Honchcrow was eager to attack, even Zachary for defying its rule-- till the Dragonair released a lightning attack! The bolt would of been dangerous to any bird as it flunched and jumped to evade the lightning. With an angry crow-- the black bird fluttered in the air and turn-tailed to run. [break][break] Dizzy and and Wendy soon joined Zachary. They heard the Honchrow give an angry caw and flew out of sight through the trees, leaving them alone. The fight had caused a few pokemon to scatter around, but luckily no one was hurt. A sigh escaped Zachary as Wendy asked if Zachary was okay. [break][break] "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry..." Zachary said as he looked down to the Hoothoot on the ground. The bird had a teary look in its eyes, and more important-- a bad gash along its wing. Zachary's face widened with shock as he soon saw the poor bird injured by the Honchcrow . "Oh no... Hoothoot. Are you hurt? " Zachary asked, only getting calls from the bird. It wouldn't move its wing as fast, now properly grounded. [break][break] Dizzy gave a compassionate whine, feeling bad for the little owl. Even more so that Honchcrow seemed more interested in stealing the food away from it, and punished it for good measure. [break][break] Zachary turned to Wendy, wondering if she had anything to help. "Wendy, do you perhaps have any Poffins that are made of Oron berries? " Zachary asked, as he soon took off his bag, digging for a potion. He didn't have many but he was determine to use it to help the poor bird. [break][break] The poor hoothoot looked not just hurt physically, but emotionally too to be bullied like that. [break][break] Knowing that Potions could often sting, Zachary took out some of his own rags and began to soak them into the potion. Using it, he then made a small bandage, and tried to tie it around Hoothoot's little wing. While not a perfect job, the bird winced at the burn-- but didn't move away. "There, there... its okay." Zachary urged, hoping that Wendy had a poffin she could spare for Hoothoot too. [break][break]
