She didn't want to admit it, but she was lost. It had been hours since she'd parted ways with KING WAYLAND and everything in this damn place looked the same. Cavern after cavern of shimmering Tera crystals. It was starting to drive her a bit mad.[break][break]
"Any idea where we should be heading?" She grumbled to Deimos, stopping by a particularly bright patch of obelisk-shaped gems.[break][break]
The Glaceon huffed, echoing Mei's frustration. He sniffed the air, then turned his head to the right. His ears perked up and he stiffened, sensing something.[break][break]
"What is it?" She asked curiously, lowering her voice. This strange, ethereal crystal kingdom was home to dangerous Pokemon, she knew. They ought to be careful.[break][break]
Deimos padded forward, so Mei followed, pressing herself to the cave wall in an attempt to remain partially hidden. There was a figure ahead, by a small pool of water. Crystals sprouted out of it like glittering vines, wrapping around nearby stalagmites. As the face of the stranger came into view, she realized with a jolt that she recognized it - from television.[break][break]
It was Melody Miro, famous idol and the only female member of Hoenn's Elite Four.[break][break]
"What's she doing down here?"[break][break]
But it was obvious, wasn't it? freya morningstar was down here somewhere, too. They all were. The League was just as keen on studying this place - and exploiting its resources - as Rocket was.[break][break]

She was bumping to jams on her headphones and minding her business. She had start to become more comfortable exploring this area by herself and given her status as elite 4 she had express permission to walk around alone. [break][break]

Not that she really needed it, she'd have come by herself anyways if she didn't sense any danger from it. Meloetta floated alongside her as the pokemon wanted to find some inspiration for singing and this area gave hugeeeeeee fantasy vibes with all the crystals and strange things. [break][break]

It was odd - Melody didn't seem to hear Mei's footfalls. It was impossible to avoid the scattering of some pebbles, the echo of movement in the otherwise empty cavern. One could hear a pin drop, it was so eerily quiet. But the idol just...sat there. Occasionally bopping her head up and down, almost as if - [break][break]
"Headphones," Mei realized, incredulous. "She's listening to music."[break][break]
What if someone or something were to sneak up on her? Like - like Mei was trying to do. Melody was a member of the Elite Four, so she had to have some kind of...plan up her sleeve, right? Maybe this was a clever plot to lure unsuspecting Rockets into attacking her, hoping for some kind of advantage.[break][break]
Mei was a fool for thinking she could handle someone like this. And even if she could, and Melody wasn't the tactician Mei assumed her to be...a sneak attack wasn't exactly a fair fight.[break][break]
Why did that bother her now, when it wouldn't have in the past?[break][break]
A scuffling sound came from the far side of the cave. Mei tensed, preparing for someone else to appear. It wasn't a person that crested the boulder beside Melody, however - it was a Pokemon.[break][break]
Maybe. What the hell kind of Pokemon looked like that?[break][break]
A purple man, snapping jaws, deadly claws, a bipedal body. It reminded her of something else, but she couldn't quite place it. The important thing was that it was heading directly for Melody.[break][break]
"Watch out!" Mei called out, hoping the woman's pretty little Pokemon would hear, at least.[break][break]

The purple figure rushes up to her and Melody looked up at it rushing her. She doesn't really panic at first as a beam of beautiful pink petals rush past her and slam into the disfigured creature. It slams it into the wall as it falls over and collapses "Ewwww. What is that thing?" she asks out loud. [break][break]

She pauses her music and looks around, she had heard someone call out to her to try and warn her. Ariel, the Primarina rushes to her side and nudges Melody with her head and coo's and tries to gain praise for her quick thinking. Melody smiles at her and rubs her favorite spot on her head. "Yes yes you did amazing, and your vocals were spot on with that attack." [break][break]

She looks around trying to spot where that noise came from and waves to the woman "OIIIII! What are you doing up there? It isn't safe here!" she warns her "You should get outta her-" she says as suddenly the ground starts to shake and a stampede of pokemon starts to rush.[break][break]

Melody finally noticed her attacker. Another woman might have screamed and panicked, but Melody just sat there, head cocked prettily. After her Pokemon blasted it into the wall, she happily patted it on the head like this was just another day on the job and not an anomalous encounter in a dangerous new area.[break][break]

She quickly scaled a nearby boulder, standing on top so she could get a better lay of the land.
