"then you should know thunder doesn't miss in the rain."

the manectric tanks the attacks as it concentrates on channeling its move. charged up electricity tickles the rain clouds from above, only to strike a large bolt of lightning towards the froakie.

with the big attack from thunder hitting, the raboot's attack pushes the manectric aside, causing kyle to recall it back to its ball.

with the mightyena being the only one left on his side, laser focus allows it to study the raboot's movements from the previous attacks for an opening.

more than familiar with RAIN DANCE and how it empowers THUNDER, cian can't help but smirk in response, swiping beads of rain off his nose as he looks at froakie's DOUBLE TEAM fan out across the battlefield.

"it isn't so much about evasion," he says, "just wanted to look cool, you know?"

in this case, the froakies certainly look cool before they faint from the THUNDER, the damage from kyle's manectric too much to withstand. zapped and charred, the froakies sway before falling to the ground.

"down to one-one!"

studied by LASER FOCUS, raboot's approach remains simple, covered with TERA CRYSTALS as it lunges down low to HIGH JUMP KICK mightyena.

"as much as i want to hand out freebies-"

kyle has his tera orb on the ground. gently, he kicks it to the mightyena's direction while the raboot takes up the sky.

"-i really can't make it obvious."

the mightyena terastalizes to a ghost-type, causing the high jump kick to miss. froakie and its lick was now out of the field, and raboot hasn't shown any super effective moves against a ghost-type.

the mightyena proceeds to fling a mud slap at the raboot's face, obscuring its vision.

confidence oozes through like oil from the pores on his nose. that's partly why the rain is appreciated; it soothes the urge to constantly wipe at his nose. it's a blessing he's not shortsighted as he imagines his spectacles would constantly be sliding down his nose.

emboldened by previous TRAILBLAZES, raboot ducks to the side to avoid MUD-SLAP, though specks of it still manage to find its furry cheek.

once more, it closes the distance, displaying all the same signs of going for a HIGH JUMP KICK, but its true intentions are veiled.

the mightyena waits for the raboot to come back down.

kyle awaits for any changes that cian would do. if he keeps on sticking to the tried and tested, only the same result awaits the challenger for the predetermined result of that one move.

tail wagging, the mightyena is ready to tank the crash once again with its new typing, baring its fangs for a crunch once the raboot lands.

when raboot lands, it's not HIGH JUMP KICK that follows; both raboot and cian know that's what their opponent is expecting; and it is from that read that allows them to pivot at the last moment after luring them in with repetition.

"hop, hopps!"

living up to its name, raboot BOUNCES back up with enough momentum that it knocks mightyena back and away, avoiding the CRUNCH in doing so.

"wahoo!"

with its action foiled, the mightyena growls.

the raboot has its attack deflected, and the dark-type, now a ghost-type due to terastalization, closes the distance. feet hammer on the chamber's floors as it rushes in before a pounce.

its attempt to play rough is evident. paws were extended as it bowls itself towards the smaller pokemon, ready to nip and wrestle once it gets its jaws on hopps.

adapt and overcome; this is the basis of what he tries to educate at the weather gym. he may utilize different weather but they all serve the same purpose. so, when asked to do the same, he knows exactly how to overcome adversity presented in the form of a mightyena.

"remember our playtime!"

he calls back to a sad time, one he once would have looked back on in melancholy and heartbreak, but with time and growth, he now views it through fond, nostalgic lens.

kyle lopez and noah faber took him in when he needed it most; when the alternative led him to the cliffs of the border; so the least he can do now is repay the favor and make it all worthwhile.

as mightyena springs forth ready to PLAY ROUGH, raboot spins its paws together to conjure up an ELECTRO BALL. it tosses it up a few times, calling for mightyena's attention before rolling it over the same way it had done before in their many, many playtimes.

amplified by the RAIN, it should be enough. he hopes it is, seeing how the TERA CRYSTALS around raboot have started to crack.

the mightyena leaps forward, changes directions to the ball, and catches it.

an electro ball wasn't any other ball, however. chomping hard into it fries the pokemon, shocking its wet dog fur to stand on its ends when the dark-type manages to reach into the pokemon.

"huh."

the pokemon drops on the ground, attempting to stand back on its legs had it not been stopped by the tingling sensation of trying to treat plasma like a toy.

"you can't play around his feelings like that! you know he likes to play fetch."

kyle sighs, softening his expression with a smile, and recalls the mightyena as it tries to get back on its legs.

"and that's it, i guess."
