you're born into high expectations. your parents want you to be a doctor, or a scientist, or some high intellectual.[break][break]

from the get-go you're not enough. you're too stupid to be a doctor, too honest to be a politician, too clumsy to even be an athlete. you're pretty good at drawing, and you like to make things, and you run with the theatre club by making set pieces and picking up bit roles, but that will never be enough. and why should you have to conform to anyone else's standards, anyway? so you craft a little paper mache mask of your darling little morpeko and wear it while you record your daily training sessions. you start to talk about other aspects of your life too, like your pokemon's nutritional intake and your research into various battle strategies as well as infodumping a bit about how gyms work in other regions. you call yourself heidi hemlock, and you start to grow in popularity. you make enough money off the videos, especially as you add to your cast of characters, to move out of your parents' home and cut them off almost entirely. you prepare to take on the gym challenge for yourself. you're ready for your first step, finally. [break][break]

you still kinda hate yourself. "julian" is useless, negative, grumpy, unlikeable. "heidi hemlock" is fun-loving, knowledgable, cute. when you're julian, you spend most of your time at home playing video games and ranting to your pokemon. when you're playing as heidi, you put a lot more pep in your step. so you decide to take on the gym challenge... on video, in front of everyone, as heidi hemlock, not as julian brierley. great idea, right?[break][break]

but it's not your destiny to reach your goal after all. you realize this thanks to an ill-fated encounter with a rocket admin, and you lose what little hope you had left. you give up on your dream, you give up on your identity as heidi hemlock, and move back in with your parents. you spend most of your time locked up in your room. someone as weak and cowardly as you could never be a gym leader... it was foolish for you to even dream.
