Mr. Rockhead's gaze locked sharply onto the Jolteon as it stepped up.

As the static electricity spread outwards, covering the entirety of the arena, there was no visible reaction from the sentient rock, its gaze still locked into place until something inside clicked.

Suddenly, the static energy in the air seemed to flow through it, before it began to rise in the air.

For his part, the gym leader, too, was silent, having no observations to give (as of yet).

Seizing the terrain was rarely a bad idea.

Mr. Rockhead's gaze shifted. It snapped around from one incoming Shadow ball to the next, even as its body stayed stubbornly fixed towards the Jolteon, a compass facing its north.

The Shadow balls came— and the Probopass dropped, smashing into the earth— except not.

The magnetic charge repelled against the air despite the downward's pressure— caving the soil in even as the earth around the giant nose rose out like a wave, erecting a rising wave of dirt around itself, sending it hurtling towards the jolteon and the incoming barrage of shadow balls.

Gwyar tilted his head, smile stretching slightly. Thunderbird?

Even precocious genius kids could be cute.

Poised with the choice of dealing with the remaining shadow balls or losing track of a dangerous opponent, Mr. Rockface took decisive action.

It's body suddenly began swiveling wildly in place, eyes wide open as its nose pointed in seemingly random directions, the shadow balls smashing against its solid frame.

Its rock-steel body shook and trembled with each impact, but its swiveling did not cease, nose always pointing at something within the curtain of dust seemingly at random.

The rest of the spectators were surprised. Perhaps even the Gym Leader was surprised.

Mr. Rockhead, however, was looking straight ahead and directly at its opponent before it tore out of the clouds, focus locked into place as the Earth beneath it lunged out as if possessed of a life of its own.

Blasts of earth launched like cannon balls towards the airborne Jolteon as thunder and lightning rained down around the Probopass, the steel-type maintaining its stoney facade with machine-like focus even as its body rattled and shook beneath the hundreds of thousands of volts.

Mr. Rockhead's salvo continues as the Jolteon falls, ceasing only once the Jolteon has melded into the soil.

It's body swiveled in place briefly before latching onto the slow swelling clump of earth rising before it, staring at it unblinkingly before it exploded.

Mr. Rockhead ceized the clumps of earth now in the air, the debris beginning to slap together high above into a big ball of dirt—

A shadow ball blasted out of the dust, smashing into the Probopass, jarring it briefly as it was briefly thrown off balance, its body bounce landing heavily unto the ground as the effects of magnet rise happened to cease.

The enemy came bursting from the soil the moment Mr. Rockhead's bum had touched it.

It's frame quaked once again as surging earth battered it, the unstable make up of the rock and steel alloys quaking beneath the raw dirt.

Nonetheless— the mass of dirt gathering above did not shatter and crumble.

But it did descend.

At the very edges of Mr. Rockhead's unstable conscious, instincts drilled into it through training roared to continue fighting despite seemingly imminent defeat.

Thus, the accumulated Earth power descended upon both challenger and Mr.Rockhead, crashing in with a booming, dusty explosion.
