The recent uptick in poison pokemon and related attacks caused ripple effects throughout the region. People were still fighting the illnesses, and for some, it manifested hours or even days later. The sickness was different across the region based on the odd event that happened in the area. Around Littleroot, people were dizzy.

It took no time at all for her to come across someone passed out on the road. "Sinistea, use aromatic mist." She tried to keep the sigh out of her voice. She was worried, first and foremost, but she was also tired. The poison exposure had weakened her, too. Ranger work didn't stop, though.

the uptick in poison related attacks had been...worrying, to say the least. it wasn't like elodie hadn't been impacted, either- with everything going on, the exposure of it had left her too tired to really post a video in the last couple of days.

when she had heard about helping others out, the poison-exposed part of her brain wanted her to ignore it and just rest, but she had, somehow, managed to shove it aside and force herself to go out. which is how she had landed around littleroot, looking for...something?

honestly, she wasn't really sure, herself. not until she saw it. them.[break][break]
"oh! here. lemme-" before she can really decide what she's doing, she's hurrying over, prepared to pull out one of her pokemon. she just knows she wants to help.

Robin's exhaustion leaves her slow to react, but she's glad the newcomer is someone looking to help rather than someone in need of it. She's feeling spread a little thin since she hasn't totally recovered herself. "Yeah, lift their head up a little, I'll grab-" she instructs the assistant as she grabs a cloth. Sinistea's aromatic mist helps the dizzy civilian wake up gently, but Robin knows from experience the people tend to come-to with an urge to throw up.

"He's gonna be sick when he-" The man's eyes flutter open and he instinctively turns his head. Robin flinches backward, prepared to hand the cloth over when he finishes. The man could use some water, but Robin's not got any left.

The other girl doesn't respond at first, and Elodie's first instinct is to speak up again. Or something. She's not really used to stuff like this- it isn't every day you run across someone when they're unconscious, after all- and the pause makes her wonder if she's just coming off as more of a busybody than anyone who actually means good.

But just as fast as she can question it, she's given an instruction, and nods, moving to hold the man's head. The Pokemon are forgotten for now. Between Elodie and anyone who asked, she's pretty sure some dyed Pokemon may not be great for anyone who wakes up disoriented. Save them the shock of it, at least.

Her brain barely registers the meaning of what the stranger is saying before the man turns his head, instinctively. From where she's at, Elodie can't actually move, but she turns away, closing her eyes in some attempt to ignore the worst of it. It's only a few minutes later that she steels herself. "Okay." She starts, partially to herself as a reminder that she kind of signed up for this.

"Okay." She repeats, louder, looking up and trying to avoid looking at the mess next to her. "What now?"

The extra set of hands is great. Robin's still exhausted from running around all month, but having a stranger volunteer to help just makes her Ranger heart sing. "You're doing good. Now, I'm going to administer an antidote to help kick the rest of the poison." Since the man's thrown up, she cups the side of his face as he catches his breath. She sprays the antidote into his mouth. The flavor is reminiscent of pecha berries, so it's not unpleasant. Instinctively, the man licks his lips and gathers more of it.

"OK. It's only going to take about a minute for the antidote to neutralize what's still stirring inside. We'll just need to get him into town for proper observation and some hydrating." She rises to her feet, though the pink-haired assistant is stuck with the man on her lap til he's ready to stand. Robin releases Snorlax. "We'll have Mun do the heavy lifting. But you've done all the leg work." She winks, then jabs a thumb to her chest with newfound vigor. "Ranger Robin Coello, at your service." She then extends a hand as the man comes back to himself fully, helping to pull him up and off of her.

the man is fine. despite everything- including the deisre to get away from the mess before it makes her sick- there's a relief that she was just in time that almost erases all of it. which doesn't help with feeling awkward, but there's no way of really helping that. even if she doesn't complain, she's sure it's obvious from the look on her face, just for a moment.

"i actually have some water types-" but as soon as she says it, elodie's brain kicks in with a reminder that most of their moves would do more damage than good. this man didn't need a fever from rain dance on top of having been poisoned. just as quickly as the words are out of her mouth does she make a little noise that's meant to be a disregard.

the man stirs, and starts to stand, and elodie rises with him. for a second, she's sure he may fall- he seems unsteady for just a moment- and she reaches an arm out to steady him. the snorlax seems like it can do most of the heavy packing, but if need be she can help him get over there.

with the immediate danger to the man out of the way, elodie allows herself to relax. "i'm elodie hayfield. also a ranger." she hesitates, debates leaving it at that, and then gives in. "sort of. i'm not technically a ranger ranger, but...you know."

The walk to town is filled with revelations. "Elodie," she repeats, testing how it feels in her mouth. "I haven't seen ya around before." Mun huffs as they walk, confirming. "Not a ranger ranger, hm? I think we can fix that. I've been to enough trainings myself to know how to tell people what to do."

She laughed. "No, but really, I've helped a lot of baby rangers. You can always come to me for help. What'd ya join for?" She joined to have an excuse to leave home while making the world safer for ghosts. But she had met a wide variety of rangers. Town crept closer, reminding Robin that she was actually peckish.

for a second- barely a fraction of one, even- elodie almost answers when the other woman tests her name with the typical i chose it myself joke. but the opportunity never comes, and, instead, the subject change brings a new relevation.

robin had never seen her before? if things had been different, she would have already been pulling up her channel to confirm that it was her- but they had a poisoned man to worry about, even if the pokemon seemed to have it covered. "to be honest, i haven't been here too long. and then i had to deal with unpacking, so."

she huffs out a little laugh at the joke. "hey, i think i've seen enough of them to get the gist." if videos counted, anyway. she hadn't actually lived through one, herself. it's the other question that makes her pause, though, even as she continues along beside them.

"it's probably going to sound silly." she starts, with another laugh that betrays just how awkward this could get for her. "i just really wanted to help people. maybe even change the world, you know? for the better."

and she had kind of managed that today, hadn't she? maybe not in a big way, and not on her own- but it was enough for now.

Ah. Robin understood her goals. It sounded silly out loud, she knew, but she had really done it for the same reason. It was such a powerful driving force, wanting the world to be a better place. She wanted people to stop fearing ghosts and kicking them out of natural habitats, and she was sure such a thing would improve the world. "I totally get it," she said, feeling sentimental. "You're in good company." Snorlax huffed in agreement as they came to the mouth of the town.

"The milk tea place beside the medical center literally has the most delicious cherri flavor ever," Robin gushed as they approached the medical center. "We can get some tea and see what missions are nearby your place. If you've been unpacking... it sounds like you need a housewarming gift. Do you like ugly things? There's this misshapen Teddiursa statue at this shop in Mauville that hasn't sold for weeks, and..." Robin continued gabbing as they reached the medical center, eager to have a new Ranger ally.
