with wolfgang volkov sick with a cold and out of commission for a few days, james wastes no time with returning to ultra crater, not wanting to risk progress and discovery.[break][break]

though he thinks to venture in alone, he's glad he ran into Mimi Hirose on his way in. it's always much safer to travel in groups, and he's sure she'll be of great help.[break][break]

The Ultra Crater's lush jungles were breathtaking.

As they continue to traverse the untamed wilderness she felt her heart racing faster and faster, her soul was captivated by the jungles mysteries to embark deeper into the heart of the jungle despite the dangers that lurked in the shadows. Luckily, Mimi was not alone.

She carefully steps over some thick roots, fallen leaves crunching beneath her feet every time she took a step. She pauses and looks around when James asks about a potential camping spot. Not to far away from them, Mimi spots what looks to be an abandoned research station.
"how about there?" Mimi points towards it in case James didn't notice it. "might be abandoned."

James's Type:Null makes a massive difference in traversing the thick foliage. Impressed with the swift progress Mimi quickly follows along, completely unaware of any potential dangers that lurked in the shadows; waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

"it's beautiful" she remarks in awe, out of everything to find in a jungle; she least expected a golden nugget to emerge from nearby bamboo stalks. She examines it more closely by holding it up towards the golden sunlight which filtered through the jungle's canopy. Mesmerized by the way the gold sparkles underneath the light; Mimi smiles softly, she decides to store her new found treasure in her backpack but then suddenly --

a pansage emerges from the tangled canopy without warning. Swinging from vine to vine effortlessly, the pansage easily snatches Mimi's backpack and with incredible speed, retreats back towards the safety of the enormous trees. "Hey! Come back here with my backpack!" Mimi shouts towards the thief her face heated with pure anger.

Yet the Pansage was unbothered by the threat, instead it taunts Mimi to follow her by sticking out it's tongue and tugging down it's eyelid towards her before once again swinging from vine to vine in the twisted canopy.

"Oh! You little pest.. just wait till I catch you!" controlled by her impulse, Mimi runs after the pansage without thinking. Before, she realized it - she was completely lost in the heart of the jungle with James no where in sight.

the GOLD NUGGET never makes it into her backpack. it is stolen, ripped away from Mimi Cheng along with the rest of her backpack by a PANSAGE that moves at incredible speed.[break][break]

anger reflects in her features. wonder reflects in his.[break][break]

it's like that time her tail was snatched away, causing her to lose the round of fall guys.[break][break]

when he snaps back to reality, she's sprinting to try and catch the thief.[break][break]

Continuing the chase, Mimi finds herself unknowingly walking into the lair of a spidops. Her first mistake was chasing a pansage deep into the jungle. Her second mistake was to ignore the long strands of suspended silk hanging from nearby trees; the determination in retrieving her backpack was clouding her ability to think, and notice the signs of nearby threats.

After stumbling around for awhile Mimi sighs, she completely lost sight of the pansage.. there would be no point in chasing it down further, all she would do is lower the chances of reuniting with James. With clenched fists she turned back to try and look for James, she also was reminded of why she despised monkeys. They reminded her of Noodles, a friend of hers who also loved to play tricks and torment her. He committed an unforgiveable act of stealing her tail in fall guys, ever since then she vowed to never game with him again.

"James?!" Mimi calls out his name, hoping to hear his voice she was only met with a cacophony of calls from nearby pokemon. Grumbling unhappily to herself, she blames him for getting lost.

Continuing retrace her steps she notices some strange shilloutes hanging in nearby trees, as she got closer she realized that they were large cocoons, some of them were larger than her. "creepy.." she remarks to herself, her pace now quickening as she got the sense of something strange nearby..

Feeling something stuck around her legs Mimi glances down to notice that she was covered in thick strands of sticky string. Confused, she tries to remove it but her attempts are in vain as they stick tightly onto her clothes. Distracted by her sticky situation, she's unable to realize she had already been caught in the Spidops trap. Hearing sounds of tapping above her, she looks up finally noticing an intricate spiders web woven between two giant trees.

The next few moments happen in a blur, a large spidops standing around seven feet tall rushes towards Mimi. Unable to react, she falls victim to the bug-types string-shot. Mimi is swiftly spun into a cocoon, unable to break free before she was completely entombed she cries out in desperation hoping James could hear her. "Please help me!!"

she is then thrown into a suffocating world of darkness.

as they venture deeper into the jungle, following whispering, fleeting sounds, he can do no more than hope; hope to find mimi; hope that she hasn't been eaten alive; and hope that if she has been eaten alive, that her body is still recoverable. the paperwork for reporting a missing person is more complicated than the one for reporting a casualty of the rift, surprisingly.[break][break]

"focus, katsudon. we don't have much time."[break][break]

type: null's entire head twitches. it turns to the right, then sprints away without much of a warning.[break][break]

"wait—not that fast!"[break][break]

he can't keep up with it but he tries his best.[break][break]

coming to the rescue, type: null's CRUSH CLAW finds the spidops, pushing it away before scratching at the trap to free Mimi Cheng. it barks at her, then gestures behind it.[break][break]

conveniently, james arrives shortly after.[break][break]

She's lucky to have reliable companions.

Katsudon easily tears through the cocoon but still demonstrates the caution needed to not harm her while she's entombed. Upon being freed, her gaze rapidly flickers between: Cian, Katusdon, and The cocoon which would have been easily been her coffin if Cian and Katusdon hadn't intervened.

Initially confused at first it doesn't take long for Mimi to connect the dots. In a moment of excitement and pure gratitude she leaps towards both Cian and Katuson squeezing them tight with a warm and tender embrace. She stays silent for a moment before speaking up, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Thanks for saving me.. Mimi finally speaks out tears welling in her eyes. "I- I uhhh.. don't know what I was thinking to be honest.." She chuckles while struggling to find the words, her face flushing a soft pink as she realized how stupid she was for running off in the first place.

His words bring out all the tears and she starts to sob uncontrollably. "I'll never leave your side again!" she wails Enthusiastically.

As they break apart Mimi grins back at him. her glowing expression ruined as she was covered with sticky and slimy boogers. Without thinking she wipes the gooey substance off with her hand and reaches for James's hand squeezing it firmly.

even though james means it when he says, "of course i would!" he will not be able to hold up his word. Mimi Cheng will have to find another parter to return into ultra crater with, but that's not because james doesn't like her, he simply prefers working with people he knows already.[break][break]

on their way out of the rift, james manages to snag himself a KARTANA, and though he's not a fan of the ultra beast, he knows it'll be needed for aeos research to come.
