Shalin had more than one reason to be terrified. First, that pyroclastic flow was coming at them fast. With no time to get in the air in such a dense jungle, fleeing on the ground was the only way out. Having dealt with pyroclastic flows during her exploration of Mount Chimney, she knew they were faster than any of her land Pokémon could go. She had her doubts even the Master of Faster could outrun one. Maybe with his new legendary partner.

On her own Cyclizar near where CIAN MAHER was riding, Shalin faced forward, looking for shelter. They would have little time to find it, though. "Alright, do you know QUICK ATTACK, buddy? If you do, use it!" Shalin ordered, tensing up afterward. With a wheelie that startled her and nearly caused her to tumble off, she sped toward a cliffside at an oblique angle from the eruption. When the dragon-type's front wheel touched the ground, whirling fast enough to create a mini-cyclone on its own, the Captain felt like she had been shot out of a cannon from the sudden acceleration. She let out a cry of distress, her fear of sustained speed on display.

Shalin's good riding posture had saved her from falling, but that was her only saving grace: her Cyclizar was going way too fast for her eyes to follow. When it looked like she was going to run smack into a cliff wall, the wheeled dragon made a final adjustment, hitting the brakes as they went screaming into a cave just in the nick of time. She could feel the tremendous heat of the eruption behind her as she fled with Cian.

Once they at last came to a stop, Shalin shakily dismounted, the Cyclizar reverting. Despite the dry air and previous high speed, she was drenched in sweat, hyperventilating both from the physicality of what they just did, as well as her fear.

The radiation assaulted her mind, preventing her body from cooling off. "I... need some time..." Shalin replied in a daze, taking a seat on the hard ground, her back propped up against a cave wall. Little did she realize just how short her rest would be before her surroundings faded to white...

Upon seeing the frozen Galarian wastes, Shalin stepped inside one of the villagers' houses to avert the consequences of thermal shock. Listening to the tale of the Spectrier and Glastrier reminded her of her own ice horse. "I wonder how Firja's doing," the mused to Cian as the sweat covering her body evaporated in the dry air. "She's a Glastrier I happened upon during the battle at Dewford. Ever since Calyrex blessed Elise Calcifet , she's been in her hands. Thought she'd have a better home with them."

Not long after she was warm again, a loud impact drew the Captain's attention. The source was a neighing Glastrier. Thankfully for her, she had handled the species before. "...Firja? Is that you?" she asked as she approached the icy creature, ready to sit upon its back if she got the chance.

The saddle the Glastrier wore wasn't quite the same as the one that was on the ice horse that used to be here, now in the Galarian princess' care. Not recognizing it in the moment, she climbed onto the regal creature. With a powerful rear, the ice-type slammed its front hooves into the snow before kicking up quite the drift with its hind legs. The legendary Pokémon bucked and heaved, at first glance trying to hurl Shalin off its back. Every leap and landing sounded like shattering glass, the girl's breathing heavy as she held on for her life.

As the rodeo went on, Shalin was jostled so hard that her eyesight rolled downward long enough to realize why she could withstand such powerful bucking. The Pokémon was freezing her lower body in place from her feet upward. An intense feeling similar to the Infinity Energy of her Sygna Suit flowed through her, a sword of ice forming in her right hand.

"...Am I an Avatar now?" Shalin asked Cian as the destructive horse at last came to a stop, relinquishing full control to its trainer.
