A crashing sound echoed across the arena as the bitter blade rent across Gram's naked blade, leaving dark lascerations across the crimson edge as the blade reeled back.

It's glass eyeball, twisted into a dark scowl. But it did not close.

The Aegislash came swinging back with a vicious smash of its pommel, attempting to drive it into its opponent's helmeted head with a booming clap.

Aurum Badge Challenge

As Jeanne had hit, she had been hit and thrown back. But she never lost her footing. The two Pokemon had gained their distance. Sparks and embers flew. But that was momentary.

The Aegislash was once again charging forth with a heavy hitting attack. Their options were limited from the start. Their strongest attack was not something that would affect their opponent. So, they had to take what they could get.

"NOW!"

The purple blade once again glowed with a miasma of pure resentment. Jeanne brought the base of her blade to her chest for just one moment. The moment these two blades clashes would end it all. So, pouring all of her strength into one blow, she thrust it forward in an elegant, yet stalwart riposte.



Yes, the moment those two collided would be the moment it came to an end. Both Jeanne and Elaine felt that in their hearts. So, they poured everything they had into that singular moment.

Their blades crashed together, Gram's edge sliding across the fiery blade.

Until it was elegantly bashed back, her form ricocheting off the opponent's masterfully timed riposte.

"It is done." The Gym Leader said to himself simply, the last thrust reaching Gram and striking its gem, the power behind the blow rippling through the blade as its body was repelled back, before collapsing to the soil.

It laid there silently, before being returned to the gym leader's pokeball, the blonde man marching towards the center of the arena.

"It is your victory, challenger." He said. "Well fought."

Aurum Badge Challenge

The quiet felt unnatural at this point. For the last few minutes, blades had been clashing back and forth. Sparks had been flying. And all in one single moment, the last clash happened. Jeanne's blade reached, tossing Gram back and heralding the end of the battle. Elaine stood there for a moment, her entire body covered in sweat as her body finally relaxed itself, realizing that it was all over.

"We did it?" She was almost in shock as she saw Jeanne turning back to look at her. Judging by her look, she was just as shocked as well. The two of them had not had a chance to let up for even a moment, but they had pulled through. Elaine immediately ran forward to her spectral knight as she gave her a hug. Were it not for how tired Jeanne was, she would have found herself jumping up and down in joy. Instead, she settled for rubbing her cheek against hers and petting her head. "You were amazing, Jeanne!"

As the Ceruledge tried her best to wrap her bladed arms around her trainer in an embrace, the gym leader had walked up to her to congratulate the two of them.

"Thanks a lot." She replied to him as she held out her hand. "That was really close."

"Indeed." He said simply, grasping her hand.

As he pulled it away, a polished golden badge was left in the young woman's palm, the flood lights shining from above sliding across its sleel, round surface.

"Congratulations, Ms. Highland." He said, patting her shoulder. "Well fought, and well earned."

There was a tense, awe'd silence in the stands. How many there had challenged the gym numerous times and failed, each and every time?

"It would be ideal, if we could go over the battle and properly analyze your performance." The gym leader mused, grasping at his chin thoughtfully. "Unfortunately, there's a tight schedule to follow."

He turned on his heel, moving back to his end of the battlefield.

"If you ever wish to hear my thoughts, do feel free to join us in our seminars. Farewell." He said simply, reaching his end of the battlefield before turning to it once again, raising his gaze to the stands.

"Colin Westward—" He called. "Come."

The night went on.
