Sonata!" she orders as her quaquaval rushes forward and leaps into the air as it's feet begin to glow orange and it uses BRICK BREAK on HISUIAN GOODRA [break][break]

Melody's gardevoir hangs back as it's eyes brim with mystical energy as red fire circles around it much like a will o wisp attack that seeks to hit the GOODRA as well with a MYSTICAL FIRE [break][break]

"But I decided once I was free of my mother's influence I wouldn't continue to let my past haunt me unless I could do something to fix it. Like Sootopolis."

to Navy's credit, she understands not wanting to share the burden. but it comes out eventually, in all the worst ways, and all she'd ever done was hurt king, in the end. her mouth quirks, hearing the confusion coming from the woman herself.

how many hours had he wondered after the same?

sacrifice requires blood. requires memory. requires loyalty. to lose something, one must first covet something. aoife regains her health, bit by bit, and the quaquaval's wings are sodden, still hissing with steam as it bridges the gap.

she's too slow to move out of the way and both of them know it. so rather than try to dodge the oncoming move, she clenches her fist and chages her body with electricity. if the quavaqual hits, it'll take her out, but thunderbolt will discharge before she drops.

with the gardevoir's healing aura faded and eyes turned on aoife for the moment, walking wake casts off the rain and brings out the sun.

"it's good," she says, "looking towards the future. towards what we can do instead of what we haven't done." she bites her lip. "for what it's worth, i think you're strong enough to handle those memories, whatever they are."

The thunder bolt arcs across the floor and rushes to the dancing duck with a lightning speed that it cannot avoid, however it pushes forward and the two manage to take each other out and Melody's absolutely stunned. "HUH?!" she says to her utter and complete shock. "YOU WERE OUT FOR LIKE TW-" just how powerful was Freya?[break][break]

Melody's on the back pedal as the music's tempo speeds up. "Alright Freya You're pushing me back but im not out of tricks yet." she responds "I know I'm strong enough to face my past, I've done it once before" she says as a lie slips off her tongue so easily, her mother would be proud. [break][break]

Gardevoir picks up the pace and starts to focus it's attention on the walking wake. Gardevoir already knows how this ends and did not like it. She tries to put the dragon to sleep with a HYPNOSIS as her eyes shine a light purple and she moves her arms rhythmically to try and lull the dragon into a sleep.[break][break]

electricity sizzles in the spot where aoife fell. red light draws her back up and away from danger and freya spares a small smile at the ball, thanking her for her service in a soft whisper of draconic.

her walking wake stares down its last enemy, nostrils flaring. the fae may be getting weary, but all of the damage miirym had sacrificed has been knitted over with fresh skin. they'll have to play it careful.

or we hit her hard. fast.

play to her strengths. melody hadn't expected aoife to tank the hit and expend the rest of her power. and her walking wake is faster, able to close the distance much easier. the question catches her off guard and she's thankful the walking wake still has its own autonomy.

And I know you’re going to say no, but I can help with it. If it ever… gets to be too much.

so many memories, all bottled up inside. too many memories for one person. two decades, another lifetime, a year folded over itself, creased to a week. her past lives have already outlived the skeleton and flesh that holds her.

steam billows. through the fog, freya can see melody's pink hair. she bares her teeth and the walking wake does the same, hind legs vaulting it forward to pounce on its prey.

She accepts her fate. [break][break]

She knew as soon as the battle began, freya was going to win. So she allows herself to lose, Gardevoir defends with a psychic barrier trying to keep the dragon at Bay. The creature however is relentless in it's pursuit of victory, fog and and steam billow in the room, obscuring the space between the two as a crack sounds out in the room. [break][break]

As the steam clears, gardevoir lays dramatically laid out on the floor. Clearly acting. "If you didn't want to battle anymore gardevoir you could just say so." she says putting her hands on her hips. [break][break]

"Well freya, it seems gardevoir's too exhausted to keep going. I surrender." she says as she had already passed her expectations long ago.

and then it's over. they can't change the past. they can't rewrite memories (but she can, you can, we can, freya, it doesn't have to hurt anymore). they can do nothing but look towards the future.

the league is bleeding, but it has people like melody. it has its elite four. it has its champion. the realization of what the battle means settles in. she'll be able to take him on now - prove herself against the longest reigning top champion in hoenn.

she clicks her tongue and the walking wake stops stalking on the play-acting gardevoir, licking its lips as it returns haughtily to freya's side of the field.

"well fought, mel. you too, gardevoir." she held out longer than freya expected, but fae are resilient like that. annoyingly so. "but no playing dead when the real battle comes."
