the call disconnects, leaving him all on his own at a farm on the other side of mt. pyre. he had run into the elderly couple when they first visited the mountain a few days ago to look at plots to bury their deceased lotad. 'our dear lottie lived to almost ten years!' until it died of natural causes.[break][break]

ten years is not long enough.[break][break]

so, on a different day, dane offers them his sympathies by helping them watch over their farm while they're away at the funeral. they tell him someone else will join him on his watch. they also tell him to be wary of hungry predators.[break][break]

as dane walks around the farm, he starts to suspect their lotad may not have died of natural causes as they said it did. it was likely chomped to death, the poor thing.[break][break]

hearing footsteps behind him, he turns.[break][break]

not one of the louder clubs, mind. it was a place where you could enjoy a nice glass of wine, with a small ensemble of classical music. it was a small bar on the countryside, and so far removed from the blaring lights and racing track of the city. she'd say it was foreign if she wasn't gradually settling herself into hoenn, by now. [break][break]

the sea had a lull that the dazzling kalos snuffs. [break][break]

'you remind us of our daughter' the woman said, a smile on her lips when sylvia was so eager to help them take care of the wooloo on their farm. the songstress, at least, found it fun talking to the elderly - there was something so endearing about them. maybe that's why she's so open to the idea of looking after the place with someone else. [break][break]

after all, someone they trust must be trustworthy, no?[break][break]

lo and behold, she catches the path of a young man walking around the farm. her lips curl into a beaming smile, bright as she picks up the pace with altaria fluttering at her side. "hello!" [break][break]

she stops in her tracks upon approaching, a hand reaching to gently rub the side of her neck. "i hope i didn't keep you waiting long.."

without a spec of caution or a hint of fear. even when he towers over her (like many people, like most people) she doesn't falter. if anything, she reaches up to shake his hand with the same, starry-eyed gaze. it's a smile that reaches bright, green eyes. [break][break]

"sylvia," she starts, followed by the tilt of her head "but you can call me syl, if it makes it easier~."[break][break]

the altaria behind her lets out a proud hum and whistle, followed by the chuckle of her trainer. "oh no, don't say that" the songstress lightly pats the top of the craned bird's head "you'll feed her ego~."

it's only when he shakes her hand does he clock their height difference. he doesn't mind it much; he's grown used to being taller than average, but in hoenn, it seems as though he's only average amongst the men.[break][break]

his hand falls back to his side. he chuckles at her altaria, then shifts his gaze back to her to quip a joke.[break][break]

a pleasant surprise, really. the same could be said about her time in hoenn. money was always a little hard to come by in other regions, and most people were more somber and downtrodden where she's been. she still hasn't fully adjusted. [break][break]

"if you really want to" she gives a quick, playful wink while her hand falls back to her side "i won't stop you~."[break][break]

her gaze shifts to the fields following the quip, just to make sure that the farm pokemon weren't being poached as they're doing introductions. there's none of that. good.
