Iron Boulder was an elusive pokemon. Ameena held interest in them more than other paradox pokemon given the relationship between a rock pokemon and the often-underground tera crystals. Sightings of them had seen a recent uptick. She needed no further encouragement to revisit the Giant Chasm. [break][break]

"Unsuspecting," she assessed as she looked at the two Iron Boulders below. One was sleeping and the other was slowly falling asleep itself. She put away her binoculars and considered what pokemon to send down first. She wanted to get some combat data and behavioral data from them. She suspected they were less territorial than the other paradox mon, but it required evidence.

Is whispered, suddenly, from just behind ameena abadi.[break][break]

Now, Tempest doesn't intend to sneak up on her. Or be creepy. Or just a creep in general.... but he had come out here to collect some samples for Amor Rose and howard slayte and, like, you didn't see people out here every day, right? So, it just made sense for Tempest to be nosy and wander over.[break][break]

The woman had seemed to be concentrating, so he didn't say anything till she did. A wise Beast might have just tried to gank an unfamiliar party to be safe. Luckily, Tempest was not a wise Beast. He was actually pretty lax all things considered. (You know. For a Beast.)[break][break]

Even still, subtly he flexed his fingers close to the Dive Balls on his belt. One could never be too safe if you didn't know friend from foe.

The pleasure of watching such fearsome and revered pokemon without their knowledge was apparently too encompassing. She visibly flinched at the voice, though she had the mindfulness to avoid lunging for his throat - enemy combatants did not often announce their presence in such a way. She tore the binoculars from her face, scowling. "What does it look like?" She spared a glance at the iron boulders, though they were minding their business. [break][break]

She huffed. "It is not so common to see these many crowd together." Did this plebian need more explanation? She had hoped her face would reveal she was uninterested in chatter, or at least fill the guy in that yes, she was the IT company AbCon's CEO, and yes, she was busy at work. She pulled an odd device from her side, one that picked up the energy readings at a distance. It was experimental and not quite released to the public, but it wasn't dissimilar to what Rocket scientists approached the great chasm with the first time around.

At the question spat back, Tempest only gave a half hearted shrug.[break][break]

"Yeah, it's kind of weird they have similar nesting habits to other large bovines. Since, like, they're metal and all." He kind of idly scratched his cheek, glancing between ameena abadi and the Iron Boulder with equal curiosity. Tempest didn't recognize her; which wasn't her fault. He only really knew about nature, boats, and just enough to not get his cell phone bugged. Tech giants typically weren't in his wheelhouse unless some scandal was involved.[break][break]

He did recognize what she pulled out, though... kind of. It was similar to the ones he used in some of his field work. Leaning on closer- cause, you know, who cared about personal space- he squinted at the readings. Once he was satisfied he leaned back again.[break][break]

"They have that same weird Infinity Energy signature all Paradoxes have."

Ameena frowned at his assessment. "Sure, but they seem most likely to have an unusual relationship with the chasm given their typing. It is less about their interactions with each other than about their interactions with all the tera crystals here." Her scanner didn't produce anything new or specific. Though, her overly involved stranger seemed a little familiar with energy. [break][break]

"Are you a scientist?" If he were a Leaguer, it would be helpful to parse how much he knew. But the way he read her scanner made her think he was far more aligned with her organization. She tried to remember how Cillian had subtly referred to Rocket in public. "Are you in a corporation?" Too vague. "One that deals with space?" Sure, close enough to Rocket. [break][break]

While she was turned to him rather than her objects of interest, one Iron Boulder meandered to a hunk of rock with a tera sticking out, looking rather interested in eating it.

"Tera crystals could have caused that, too. Those crystals do weird shit all the time."[break][break]

Tempest is quick to wave it off; he glanced at the screen once again before shrugging and stepping back. This ameena abadi seemed harmless enough and he wasn't about to get in the way of someone just looking at a bunch of pokemon. This kind of research would be done by Rocket Scientists, so he didn't gain anything from trying to hassle her.[break][break]

"Oh, no, not in any official capacity." Did being on Amor Rose's team count as being a scientist? Or all the hours he spent pouring over data in the Labs? Tempest had never had any formal training, so he didn't consider himself to be.[break][break]

The next set of questions, though....[break][break]

"Huh?"[break][break]

Tempest knits his brows, trying to figure out where that line of thought had come from from the other. Sorry Ameena. It was too subtle for Temp to pick up.

She sighed, but not because he was an annoyance. This time, it was a sound of concession. Tera crystals did have unpredictable impacts on pokemon behavior. It was difficult to run control groups because of the odd energy of the crystals. They seemed to be a catch-all for unusual power interactions - the only predictable quality was that you could not wholly predict an outcome of a tera experiment. [break][break]

"Well, I suppose I am just sight-seeing, then." She would need several trips to better understand if the iron boulders here behaved oddly, though she would also need a few samples from ones that were not exposed to crystals. Still, she was confident about her hunch. [break][break]

She made a face at his response. It didn't seem like he was being coy. Still, he didn't have a Ranger armband nor the excess of safety equipment she associated with Leaguers. How could she better inquire about him? "If you are not a scientist, what brings you to the chasm?" The area certainly wasn't safe. [break][break]

She turned at the sound of movement; an iron boulder had earned its namesake in throwing a boulder at the two of them. Immediately, Gardevoir stood between Ameena and the pokemon and used psychic to hold the boulder in place. "Get rid of it," Ameena instructed coldly. The Gardevoir obeyed, tossing the boulder back at the ground type. Gardevoir teleported down into the ring of iron boulders and began to fight with the herd.

"Worse places to sight-see, at least! This place is mad pretty." Even if it was strange and the vibes were terrible, objectively the place was nice to look at.[break][break]

Tempest clicked his tongue, glancing away from ameena abadi. A very slight flush happened on his cheeks, a hand awkwardly raising to scratch his cheek.[break][break]

"It's almost my anniversary. Husband's a paleontologist, mourned he couldn't take samples of the plants down here when it opened, so I thought I would sneak down and get him some..."[break][break]

Tempest had come down here purely for selfish reasons. Even if he told Cillian Quinn and declan walsh and the others it was for science shit, that was just a cover.[break][break]

One of the Iron Boulder seemed to have noticed them, which the woman already had handled. The only bad thing was that meant the others would wake up soon and start causing problems. Tempest wasn't that bothered by the boulder, he could have handled it had she not, but he shrugged and grabbed one of the Dive Balls on his hip. An Omastar popped out, tentacles writhing. Temp just pointed down into the hole. The fossil pokemon shrieked and went into it's shell before spinning out like a tire and sailing down into the chasm.[break][break]

It landed squarely on the back of one of the creatures, knocking it over.[break][break]

"You seen the insides of these guys? It's crazy." He offered her his hand, eyes glinting with mischief, as he positioned himself as if he was about to slide down the hill with the pokemon.

Ah, so the other man was a bit of a sap. She was pleased to hear he was around for a simple errand, though his interruption of her behavioral observations was still less than ideal. She could see from his Omastar's movements that he was either a competent trainer or had lucked out with very capable pokemon. That his husband was a Paleontologist brought a small sigh to her lips. "I cannot walk two feet in Hoenn without running into someone intrigued by rocks and fossils." She tsk'd. [break][break]

"If your husband has any interest in an active and current science, I am always entertaining dream research students. Simply look up Doctor Abadi - my secretary's information is public and attached to my name." Her research was decently publicized, but not so much as her information technology company AbCon. In any case, she really would love to discuss the sciences with someone new.[break][break]

"No, no," she insisted as he offered his hand, "that trouble can be all yours. I have no interest in getting involved with them so closely. Not without more lab equipment, at least." She was intrigued by his commentary about the inside of them, but that would be his adventure and not hers. [break][break]

She let Gardevoir rough up another Iron Boulder just so he wouldn't be sliding into a death pit of several active, angry ones.
