June looked at the bird with a sideways head. It mimicked the way it looked at June, and they entered a confused staring contest. Except they both blinked numerous times as they took stock of what sat in front of one another. On her end, she knew that something was off about the color of the Fletchling.

"Are... you shiny?"

"Fletch?"

"Like, different colors than normal. That sort of thing."

"Fletchling!"

"Damn... but. Like. Do you know your net worth on the black market, or something? Do you get more money being that way?"

"Fletch."

"That sucks."

June doubled checked, as she walked away with the Safari Ball that shook in her hand: they were not worth more than the normal form to warrant the attempt to sell it.

This Mienfoo sat perched on a rock, eyes closed and attention elsewhere. June didn't actually know if its eyes were closed, but the latter had to be true. Otherwise, how else would she had crept up on it without disturbing it? Especially after she snapped enough twigs to build a small house all the way over.

But she wasn't upset. Far from it. She still nursed the bruises and wounds from not twenty minutes prior. Very carefully, the Safari ball raised overhead. Then, as quick as she could, she slammed it down on the little runt's head.

Oh, to be a Varoom. Life must've been much, much simpler. Graze the grass, race your fellow kind, not have to worry about people or events or anything of the human life. Even if you got caught by a trainer, the worst that happened is you entered an abusive work relationship or you had to fight other people. Even then, it's not like you had to think too hard about it.

Just do what the trainer said.

June pondered this as she caught the wild Varoom, resting on a sunny rock. How peaceful it was. How serene. How nice.
