Melody had invited Annalise henderson to meet with her on the pokemon H.O.M.E island located north of foretree city's coast. She had been tightening security around the island. Everyone in the region was on the edge as of late, a combination of Kyle's absence, the arms race between league and rocket, and just general anomalies plaguing the region was pushing hoenn towards an inevitable war. [break][break]

It was there that she then needed to start working faster to prepare the league to win the war, there was no other option in her mind. She knew the league had pokemon who were powerful enough to grant avatarship and Annalise was growing as a trainer as Melody trained with her long ago. [break][break]

She held potential, potential that could shift the fate of their faction towards a desired future. [break][break]

She sat on a small tea table on the beach as her corsola flopped around in the water playing around as she awaited for annalise to arrive.

she arrives at the island on her altaria, circling to find a spot to land once she spots Melody Miro and her corsola on the beach. the dragon lands at a distance, kicking up sand with a few slowing flaps of her wings, then lowers herself to let the ranger slide off her back. [break][break]annalise glances over toward the island proper as she walks over to the tea table, noting that things seem quieter here than the last time she visited. less volunteers, more isolated vibes. her eyes return to the top champion once she's within earshot, a subdued smile on her face. [break][break]"hi, melody."[break][break]congratulations curl in the back of her throat, but she isn't sure if it's right to say it now. she's sure it must be bittersweet — rising to the top, but losing someone she's worked with for years in the process. she sets the thought aside for later. The shades pulled back to reveal the bags under her eyes, yet she somehow managed to put on an authentic smile despite the exhaustion that lingered in every one of her movements. [break][break]

She says gesturing for her to come over and sit besides her. "Come now, immediately jumping into business without a little bit of small talk isn't really the best for building bonds now is it? At least humor me in a bit of small talk."

Hoenn couldn't afford for Melody to take a break, not even for a moment. While it may seem she's taking a break right now, she was actually here to try and gain more information on who annalise henderson was and what she stood for. [break][break]

[break][break]she asks the first question, the answer comes easily. [break][break]"i was captured by rocket, melody," she says, voice flattening into something impersonal like she's distancing herself from the fact. [break][break]"there's only one way to feel about the conflict."[break][break]emotion returns to the edges of her voice, resembling contempt. An interesting stance. "I know, everyone's pretty much forgotten but I got kidnapped as well." she says revealing a bit more of a sensitive topic to Annalise. "Sootopolis fell because of it. I wasn't there to stop it, I came back and a place that was my musical paradise become a burning inferno." she shares with her as she tries to find common ground, let annalise know that she understood what it was like. As she continues to stare out towards the ocean she comments "The view of the ocean here doesn't even compare to the sight of the ocean from the top of the crater. Even my old gym." she says as she lingers on what could've been if things had played out differently. "You know you're probably one of the few people who could relate to me on that experience. Being worried about how you might not survive to the next day, being cut off from the rest of the world, isolated." [break][break]

the sharpness of her gaze, as it always hardens into whenever the topic of team rocket comes up, softens as Melody Miro unearths her history. they become sisters of the most unfortunate circumstances. team rocket had stolen her livelihood and her life as she had known it in less than a day, all while she had been helpless to stop it. her mind drifts to freya morningstar as melody describes sootopolis as an inferno. [break][break]they had experienced so much loss, but they have both — in annalise's eyes, at least — risen above the stations they had once lost in the war. [break][break]"i'm sorry, melody." sympathy colors her voice. she finds herself thoughtlessly using the exact same platitudes that she's heard herself a hundred times over, each as frustratingly empty as the last. it dawns on her now how difficult it is to summon anything more comforting to say. "i didn't know ... i can't imagine ... " [break][break]but the moment shared is fleeting. she's brought back down to earth as melody returns to her answer. [break][break]"yes. completely." her arm shifts, the fidgeting of her hands hidden somewhere beneath the table. "I'm glad someone speaks freely around me." she says as people often changed what they said around her as to not upset her. "Most people don't and it upsets me. I prefer an ugly truth over a beautiful lie." [break][break]

She had an extremely fair point, it was a dangerous proposition to put vulnerable pokemon with people who had a checkered past. "But." there was always a but. "If we don't give people a chance to do better, how can they?" she asks her. [break][break]

"Have you not ever made a decision and regretted immediately? Do you agree with your younger self on specific topics? I usually find that people who do still agree with younger versions of themselves lack growth." she tells her, learning from the past is a key feature of adults. [break][break]

"While the program is still in it's infancy and hasn't really had anyone yet to really test the system out. Maybe we should have someone constantly supervise them." She wanted annalise to feel heard. Her voice matters to her.[break][break]
