Ocean air rushed up from the coast as Eddie carefully picked his way down the craggy hills leading from Meteor Falls. This place was really beautiful in the full splendor of summer, all sun-bathed and brilliant at the height of noon. [break][break]

He walked carefully past little rocks and uneven ground. Somewhere to his right, the sunlight twinkled off of the rolling waves beyond, pleasing and inviting. He should probably try to make it back to Rustboro, and through there, to his new post in Dewford with haste, but Eddie felt his feet drag reluctantly. [break][break]

When was the last time he'd gone swimming? Eight or nine months ago, probably. Eddie eyed the beach and the crystal waters that lapped at it's shore with longing.

There was something else by the water's edge, Eddie realized as he carefully made his way over to the shoreline. A gray, bipedal creature sat in the sand like a lump, and icy crystals formed around it's body as waves lapped up and around it. Eddie reached for the Poke Ball at his belt and called out, [break][break]

“Hiya,” he began, and the Frigibax suddenly started. Eddie bit back a laugh as the little lump tried to scramble to it's feet and slipped on a slick patch of frosted-over sand beneath it. [break][break]

The dragon's meager pride was wounded regardless, and in a flash, Beau was at Eddie's side as the Frigibax reared back for a DRAGON BREATH, [break][break]

“Don't hurt 'em too bad,” Eddie called as Beau charged in to the fray. The warning went unheeded as the kaiju in miniature was sent sailing by a super-effective CLOSE COMBAT. Eddie sighed and tossed one of his few Luxury Balls at the Frigibax, beaming it away before it could sail off into the ocean. [break][break]

Beau, for his part, trotted back to his trainer with a prideful swish of his tails. Eddie just laughed, stooping over the grab the ball and to give the bull a pat on the head, [break][break]

“Fair 'nuff; better safe than sorry, right?”[break][break]

The bull lowed in agreement, and suddenly Eddie realized the both of them were staring out at the shoreline. He looked to the beach, then to Beau, and back again, [break][break]

“You wanna go for a swim, buddy?” [break][break]

The bull snorted and stamped with excited approval, and a moment later, the Tauros charged off towards the waves, leaving his trainer in the dust, [break][break]

“Hey, wait for me!” Eddie called as he began to unbutton his shirt. [break][break]

Dewford could wait a little longer, he reassured himself when he finally dove into the cool waters. This was exactly what he needed; just a little time in the sun, a little time spent buoyed by the gentle waves of the coastline, before the call of duty would thrust him into a new world of responsibility. Eddie just silently hoped that he could be alone out here for a little while longer; after all, it'd be kind of embarrassing if someone were to catch him skinny-dipping in the middle of broad daylight, right?
