Ranger work is never done. Just as much as a Litten is always going to need to get pulled out of a tree, so too is Team Rocket always a problem that needs to be fixed. The League keeps Hoenn safe, or at least, that's what is to be believed. The weaker hearts falter, and the strong are tested and made.

Coming to Alola with aspirations to be a Ranger, Ranger Cromwell believed for the past couple years that her job would be like a fairy tale; her parents both were Rangers, and waxed poetically about it to her as she grew up. The wide-eyed young Genny made it her aspiration. But the Hoenn conflict with Rocket continues to worsen day-by-day, and they're not the only threat. It's forced her to look at the path to gain strength, and realize the pain that she must endure to get to the happy ending.

Happy endings are worth fighting for.

Every mission tasked has pushed Genny further to the edge. Every time she was given a task, she took it without fail. From the timeline shennanigans of Goodbye Galar, to the factional wars on the islands near Dewford, and the Megalopolan resurgence within Blood, Iron, and Mud and Prismatic Penitentiary, Genny has forced herself to gain strength, suffered trauma after trauma with death after death on her heels. And yet, she still aspires to continue and keep going.

It can't all be for nothing. No matter what comes her way, she will walk the path and make it through.

Genny started out as the sunshine wonderchild from Alola, complete with a dream to be the best Ranger she can be. She looked up to the women who led Hoenn, and aspired to be like them. For the past two years of writing her, she's evolved into a more jaded person, growing a spine and learning the reality of her heroes, but she's never fully lost her way. Truth may be knocking, but her dreams aren't mistakes. Her idols are real, they're people. Her aspirations are real, and achievable. She intends to go higher, to gain strength of will and strength of heart, and by surrounding herself with those she loves, and defend them.

She has learned that she is a shield for people, and she will fight to her dying breath.

When it comes to Genny, I take a lot of inspiration from Kiritsugu Emiya from the Type Moon series, as her resolve is slowly budding more and more to that end. Adding a little sunshine to that core, Kiritsugu exists as a particular pragmatist that she hasn't fully embraced. To save the lives of the many, the few must be dealt with. Breaking her enough will inevitably lead to this style of ending.

PLOTS

Seeing the Best In You

Genny is the type to always approach people with the best of intentions. She doesn't use people, and tries to see the best. There's a gullible nature to Genny that still feeds off the idealism to her core, something she will never, ever lose. This has placed Genny in danger a multitude of times, and while she's grown more careful, there's a natural desire to help others in her heart.

SEEKING

• New friends. Genny is always going to look for more friends. If they're someone who just wants friendship, Genevieve will naturally want to be their friend. It's just who she is.
• Exploiters. People who take advantage of her kindness. While she's grown more jaded in current time, she will still help those in need, even with a little more caution. Gaining her inner strength, she has grown wiser.
• Pragmatists. People who can challenge the ideals Genny holds are always welcome. To challenge that idealism is important to keep her convictions in check.

A Path of Strength

Suffering trauma and loss are almost too natural in a faction war. She will lose those she loves the most, and she has. It has hardened her resolve, and pushed her forward. Every death needs to count, or else what was it all for? She will do everything she can, a true Leslie-Knope type, to achieve that goal.

SEEKING

• Mentors. Those who have helped impart knowledge upon her have not been forgotten, and those who wish to apply pressure will find the diamond underneath. Those who wish to help teach her, or help her along the way, are absolutely things she needs to become the best. Seasoned Rangers are a big plus here.
• Pressure. Those who who test her, to see how far she's come. This is very much a measuring stick kind of deal. This isn't even necessarily from a battle standpoint, and can be good or bad.
• Combat Instructors. She NEEDS to learn how to defend herself. She's done a little work, but she can't fight without her Pokemon. Easy target.

The Rocket in the Room

It goes without say, Genny has made a name for herself against Rocket, though she's often lost in the earlier events. Rocket has constantly gotten the one-up on her, and she has lost a number of friends from them. She refuses to lose to Rocket and will defend any and all, no matter what. Even if it continues to beat her down, she will stand.

SEEKING

• Rematches. If you've fought against Genny before, rivalries and rematches are insanely potent to her journey. Reoccurring villains are definitely desired.
• Uncertainties. In her mind, especially after the island fights near Dewford, some Rockets had very feasible and important reasons to be with Rocket. Some are straight villains, but the few that fight or are stuck for a reason give Genny pause.
• Former Friends. Those who take the Rocket mantle, and were at on point friends, will actively make Genny fight them. She won't be okay, and fighting through the pain is going to break her more than not.
