[attr="class","eva"] [attr="class","top"] There’s no up or down, no East or West. There’s no pain, but also no peace. It feels like nothing. An endless, vast nothing. Limob. Aware, but not quite. Restless with nowhere to go.
She’s alone, but it doesn’t feel lonely. There’s voices, most of them familiar but she can’t quite place them.
Occasionally, a face materializes in the dense fog that she chases. Sometimes it’s beautiful, pale, with long white hair and piercing gaze that makes her stomach flutter. Other times it’s cold and sharp with apathetic, focused, dark eyes and a pale stream of smoke dripping from his thin lips. There’s one that casts a bright light through the darkness with his unforgettable smile and bright green eyes. The last one changes with consistency. Sometimes it’s terrifying red eyes and a cruel smile that makes her run, other times his gaze softens and it feels like home.
They’re gone just as quickly as they come. Then she passes the time wandering with no real destination. There’s nowhere in this world for her to go. She should feel lost, but she feels nothing. And that nothing feels like it lasts for years.
Until it comes for her.
Ethereal gold eyes burning from within a dark, serpentine shadow. Fire drips from its jowls like the drool of a hungry predator. She runs with nowhere to go, a cruel game of Persian and Rattata.
She runs and runs until her legs burn and her feet bleed. The machines attached to her physical body echo alarms off the hospital walls as she seizes. The beast’s talons tear into her in a way that could only be described as gentle, as if it’s a merciful act. She screams, but it doesn’t hurt. Not like how she expects it to.
No, it’s worse. The creature tears at her very soul, rending it until it’s unrecognizable and severing her ties to this purgatory. A pristine body but mutilated soul falls through the fog, violently pulled back to a still body on a bed.
Not dead. Just gone. The alarms continue to echo across an empty room with a shattered window in Ever Grande’s hospital. She used whatever remnants of her hemorrhaging Infinity Energy to escape. Disoriented and confused, she runs to the safety of something familiar: a river carved through a steep, winding canyon far outside the city. She calls for them but there’s no answer. There’s nothing. Just like in the endless fog.
It’s not her nightmare because she feels the cool water baptize her as she crawls into a portion of the river’s gentle curve. It washes over her dry, cracked lips and starved body and she smiles, reborn in the waters of her home.
Some things need to be broken to be rebuilt stronger.
