The words slip forth in a casual, almost detached way. Her eyes remain fixed on the horizon, watching as thick bolts of lightning periodically branch across the dark sky, silently counting the seconds between each strike.[break][break]
"It's a shame, isn't it? About the Megalopolians."[break][break]
It's not a sentimental grief that laces her words - not an echo of Shred's agonized mourning - but a regretful acceptance of a closed door. A broken tool. A lost opportunity. Any potential alliance with the aliens now beyond their reach. Any hope of enlisting them to fight the DRK Triad had died along with Velmos.[break][break]
Mîr glows like a beacon, Greyson Connors's gift only emphasizing Nomi's failed attempts at diplomacy.[break][break]
A high-pitched mechanical whine - or is it a scream? - makes her ears ring, and she winces. This place is haunted, as all the rifts are.

She continues to scan the horizon as the Underboss works, uncertain what, exactly, she is looking for. Mîr drifts down, aiding Theo by brightening the gloom with the subtle rhythmic pulsing of muted purple light emanating from its P-shaped body.[break][break]
"I am seeking any and all potential allies in the war against the DRK Triad," she reiterates, more out of respect for his station than because she needs to. He knows her agenda.[break][break]
"The Megalopolians might have been useful. Necrozma hates the Triad, so when I saw what Zev Harcourt was attempting to do..." She shrugs. "It made sense to try and help him win their allegiance."[break][break]
But she - they - had underestimated the trauma of the Megalopolians. Their fear of Necrozma was embedded too deep in their collective psyche. Some monsters could not be forgiven, not even when they offered rebirth.[break][break]
The strikes of lightning begin to grow in intensity, the seconds between them lessening with each passing breath.[break][break]
"There's a storm coming," she murmurs.

that they are, but even if the megalopolans weren't out of reach, he doubts they'd be inclined to side with them after his little display during VELMOS' FUNERAL. he doesn't cringe at the memory, more so at the reactions of those present.

he appreciates her telling him of her agenda even if he already knows.

after a final spark between two wires, the power station hums back to life, drumming with such an intense beat that he can't help but wonder what it'll attract.

he stands back up, brushing against the remains of a megalopolan and notes on the desk that he's read before.

a storm approaches, but he still asks:

"what allies have you found?"

Hadn't they glimpsed a Regileki last time they were here?[break][break]
"There are those within the League - Elite Four, Council, Gym Leaders, and plenty of regular civilians - more loyal to Hoenn's survival than they are anti-Rocket," she tells him, matter-of-factly. "And I've managed to make allies of both the League Head Scientists."[break][break]
Eva Morales is unequivocally dedicated to peace, but illeana reyes is unpredictable. However, Nomi had seen Palkia's chosen standing side-by-side with Zev Harcourt in Ultra Space. The two had an understanding, and that mattered.[break][break]
"Beyond that, our very own Neon is in an excellent position to potentially sway Father Winter to our side," she continues, thinking of mint frost and his...situation. "I also believe Maldacena can be further swayed to abandon the Triad's agenda."[break][break]

"reyes can be accepted," to have such a powerful entity on their side no matter how temporary will be good for them. it'll allow them to keep a close eye on palkia's avatar, and hopefully sway her in the process. there is another issue, however. "but morales won't be, not after her little excursion in kanto."

he speaks, of course, of how Eva Morales had been invited to kanto as a guest only for her to run rampant in an attempt to unveil the truth.

as for the mention of mint frost, father winter, and maldacena, he only nods in response. he trusts the beast to do what needs to be done; the same privilege has yet to be extended to Naomi Sato.

her warning goes ignored as he glances out at the splitting thunder. it illuminates a shadow in the distance, hidden behind dark clouds.

"She is easy to manipulate, for her love of peace is a fundamental aspect of her nature, and it can be wielded against the Triad. And - " she adds " - Against the League."[break][break]
It leaves a bad taste in her mouth, to say it that way - but it's not necessarily a lie. She respects Eva Morales for her research, her brilliant mind, and her integrity, but the woman is, truth be told, rather transparent with her emotions - with her values.[break][break]
A God chose her, Nomi reminds herself. She should not be underestimated.[break][break]
He calls her attention to the shape in the distance, lumbering towards them, red eyes filled with divine rage. Another God, one without a tether.[break][break]

Unlike THEO BECKETT, Nomi does not take out a Pokeball. Instead, she steps forward, positioning her smaller form slightly in front of Theo's taller one. She holds her head high, maintaining a mostly-steadfast masquerade of bravery in the face of a vengeful god crackling with the power of a thousand restless storms.[break][break]
"If it wants me, then it may find that I am not so easy to catch," she declares softly.[break][break]
Azure energy - the color of possibility - glitters around her, waiting to be summoned into action.[break][break]
The Zekrom opens its maw, its own neon blue scales illuminating with the charging of its power, roaring louder than any thunder. Nomi stands her ground, waits. Electricity buildds, until the dragon is ready. With a bellow, it releases a massive BOLT STRIKE in their direction.[break][break]
Seconds before their annihilation, Nomi wills Mîr to take them away. Nomi and Theo disappear, re-appering amidst a swirling endless galaxy of stars. Nomi turns, smiling, always happy to return here: her home away from home.[break][break]

It is somewhat thrilling to watch a Rocket underboss crumple before the vastness of the cosmos. Not because she could not understand his awe, but because she could - because this, more than anything else, is the reason she no longer has patience for the trivial squabbles of mortals. This is but a fraction of what she has seen - what the Unown have revealed to her - and now he cannot ever unsee it, too.[break][break]
"Quaint is an understatement," she laughs. She has the authority now, for this is her realm.[break][break]
She ignores his demand to return home.[break][break]
"Lately, I have been curious about whether or not it's possible to reach other dimensions - and worlds - via this one."[break][break]
She speaks plainly - confidently - as the stars wheel overhead, and the Unown around them begin to dance to a rhythmic harmony.[break][break]
"Perhaps it connects to the Distortion World, somehow. Or the virtual simulations generated by the RKS Machine. Or the Interdream Zone accessible via Dream Mist. Maybe there's a way to open a portal into Ultra Space."[break][break]
She smiles at him, which could very well come off unnerving - depending on his point of view.[break][break]
"The DRK Triad also use the Unown for interdimensional travel. It's about time I learned how, don't you think?"

He's right, of course. Better late than never. She doesn't give him the satisfaction of a verbal agreement, however. Instead, she kneels in front of him, and places her hand on his shoulder. Small and dainty, her fingers are grounding nonetheless. For she is solid, where everything else around them is an ever changing landscape of intangible possibility.[break][break]
"I will cut off their access to our world, if I can. I will gather the resources necessary to oppose them," she murmurs, resonating with conviction. "It's in your best interest to help me. The DRK Triad will not care who rules Hoenn. League or Rocket, we're collectively doomed."[break][break]
In a flash of shimmering blue crystal, they teleport onto the Rocket submarine - into her laboratory, specifically.[break][break]"We'll have to return to the rift at a later time," she sighs, casual in her delivery; for her, traversing dimensions comes as easily as breathing. "I have no interest in fighting that Zekrom."
