The sun shone bright in a deep blue sky, impossibly large, cotton soft clouds lofted gently through the air above. Giant floating shadows coasted over the calm waters of the glistening ocean, only the ocassional breeze drifting through the quiet early summer day. Pokemon splashed in the distance, warm sand and soft waves...[break]
A perfect foil, Yuina thought, to the storm that she just couldn't quite escape within herself.[break][break]
As 'doctor's orders' would have it though, perhaps some time out, some separation from dwelling in the city might be worth it, if not just for themselves than for their Pokemon as well... Regardless of what Yuina might be feeling, a small part of her didn't want to hide forever, she couldn't, not if... She wanted to be ready for what her future was shown to entail. Spending a week as enslaved prisoners did take its toll after all.[break][break]
Daikenki sniffed at the sea air, looking out to the ocean, licking at his chops with a chuff. He had been restless, and Yuina did feel bad keeping him cooped up with her as she spent as much time in Mauville as she had... It wasn't fair to him. What better way to get him out and active than to go island hopping in the vast oceans of the region?[break][break]
"It should be interesting to see what a bug catcher can do out on the open ocean, hmm," Yuina wondered aloud, though perhaps she was only talking to Daikenki as the Samurott leaned down to her, taking his muzzle in hand to stroke his smooth fur.

As if in response to that, Doug stood tall and proud above his Golisopod's broad back, whilst she paddled along the beach side gently.

A breathy sigh exited her maw; it had been a while since she had been taken for a swim, what with Doug's terribly busy schedule.

"You might be surprised!" Doug declared boldly all the way from the wrong side of the sand, his voice echoing along the deserted island's coast.

"We were once runner ups at a Beach Biome Contest, ya know?" He boasted, nose high in the air and spine curled far back, looking almost like he would fall off his partner's shoulders.

He wondered what Zac Ramsay was up to nowadays...

Off to the side, Yuina glanced from behind Daikenki's figure, where Doug's Golisopod had taken the reigns, happily skirting her way through the shallow ocean waters. She watched him for a moment, he was precariously balanced like he was standing on a boogie board, but he hadn't fallen off. Yet...[break]
At least swimming was good cardio, one of the many reasons they'd come out to the distant parts of Hoenn's boarders.[break][break]
"Yeah? Guess I'll have to take your word on that, you look like you're about to fall off," Yuina returned, only teasing a bit. He would never lie, but he would showboat, and runner ups could mean a lot of things if the argument were to be made.[break][break]
Moving across the sand with Daikenki, stepping into the shallows, Yuina helped herself up and across the Samurott's back, sitting astride his shoulders. He waded further into the water, moving to meet Doug and the Golisopod, basking in the feeling of the water coating his smooth fur.[break]
"I'll buy it if we make it to the first island and you haven't fallen off yet," Yuina offered as she motioned Daikenki forward, and it only took a few more steps before his paws left the sand below and he began to swim through the ocean waters, leaving off from the beach.

"Yeah well, appearances can be deceiving!" He declared, sticking his tongue out at her. "Maybe ya should wear your glasses!"

For no other reason than to make sure she seeing correctly, of course. Nothing to do with any tastes of his, no sir.

"Huh... we're matching up." He said as she drew near, grinning down at her and Daikenki as his own water-type samurai turned her gaze towards them.

"That a challenge?" He asked, squinting at her from above his tall, uncertain perch, pursing his lips. "Do I get anything when I win?"

Bold words from a man who's own purchase seemed ready to shrug him off at a moment's notice whilst swimming besides the Samurott.

He earned himself a sharp glance, but her nose scrunching was a dead giveaway that she was trying to mask a smile. He actually had the gall to make a joke of her glasses? Yuina was going to see to it that he paid for that ten fold by the time the day was through.[break][break]
And little by little the storm clouds began to disippate... The sun on her skin, the cool water moving over her legs on either side of Daikenki... And how impossibly cheeky Doug was... all very good distractions.[break][break]
"Challenge? Alright, maybe it is," she returned, smoothing her hands over Daikenki's back in front of her as the Samurott glanced at the Golisopod beside him. The Samurott eyed Doug though for a moment, perhaps taking issue with being challenged in such a way...[break]
"Do you get anything? After you just poked fun at my glasses? You're asking for trouble more than anything," Yuina returned with a wry smile, and as if to match her intents, Daikenki glanced back to the Golisopod. He chuffed, trying to garner her attention, cocking his head and eyeing Doug again as if to ask, just how easy would it be to get him in the water?

The golisopod beneath him snorted. Oh, it would be super easy. Just a little accidental quake and he would go crashing down like a house of cards.

Of course, Doug was too distracted with his lady to notice the possible betrayal being discussed right beneath his very nose.

"Ohoho! That's more like it!" The doomed man said with a wide grin, leaning over slightly seemingly as if to make his own position even more precarious.

The overconfidence of this man.

"Hey, I like your glasses. I was poking fun at you." He said, winking as he stuck out his tongue. "Come on, let's bet. Maybe..."

He suddenly leaned far back, humming casually.

"Hmm... If I win, I get to pick your swimsuit for our next trip?" he offered innocently, arms behind his back.

Truly he was full of the most tenacious audacity, plainly drawing the line between what he was actually making fun of. Yuina almost wanted to push him off herself, just for the fun of it... But she glanced at Daikenki for a moment, she heard his chuffs, his attention was on the Golisopod... Maybe she just needed to keep Doug occupied for a moment more.[break]
Easy enough.[break][break]
"Hmm, it's a shame I only keep them at work then isn't it," Yuina returned, a small recourse for his poking fun.[break]
Doug thought for only a moment on what he might want to bet, and of all of the things Yuina might have fathomed... She couldn't help the bright pink that brushed across her cheeks. His innocent tone meant so little.[break][break]
"You... Okay-- If I win, you have to tell me what this next trip is? It sounds like you already have an idea in mind," Yuina returned, saying nothing in particular about the swimsuit. Perhaps he might get that either way. She was mostly just... curious? To her detriment perhaps, far more curious than she wanted to admit, and it showed in the bright pink that still crested her cheeks beneath her eyes.[break][break]
The Golisopod was confident enough, and Daikenki watched how easily, without thought, Doug shifted on her back. He wasn't being too careful. The Samurott chuffed again, nodding in her direction. Their humans had just settled their terms after all, would she feel so inclined to help things along?

He seemed to get exactly what he wanted when her face took on the color of a peach, the smug self satisfaction on his face almost dripping down from his saccharine grin.

"Kushishishi!" He snickered, shoulders quaking. "Got'cha curious now, eh? Bit of a weird bet; you'll know soon enough. But sure, let's go with that~."

He seemed so confident in his victory. All he had to do was stay atop his Golisopod until they reached the next island.

Peace of cake, he had done it a million times.

While his Golisopod stood on his side, that is.

Unknown to him, however, there was treachery and mutiny afoot. Beneath foot, to be specific.

Enemy agitator Daikenki had infiltrated Sullivan Country and incited the masses to rebellion with false promises.

And now... the time had come.

One could see the sharp shift in Doug's eyes as his foot hold shifted in a manner most unfamiliar, his body suddenly lurching in an attempt to preempt what was coming.

"Found something, girl?" He asked, glancing down at his Golisopod.

Only to meet her gaze.

He saw it then. The murderous(ly hilarious) intent.

"... No." Quake. "Kira... You...!"

There was no shake next, Kira just blatantly threw him off his shoulders like a stallion would a rootin' tootin' cowboy, violently ejecting him forward like a projectile.

"TRAITOOOOOR!" He screamed as he flew in a broad arch, before crashing into the sea water with a large splash.

Her curiosity, the eagerness that she couldn't hide was poised to be her downfall, Yuina recognized it in his snickering, the way he grinned. Like he knew she was going to fall into wondering what he was getting at, and Doug was so pleased with himself. It only made her that much more curious... Yuina felt her heart flutter a bit, but Daikenki again caught her attention...[break][break]
Good things come to those who wait after all.[break][break]
Yuina glanced up to Doug as he stumbled a bit on the Golisopod's back, and her eyes came alight with anticipation. She stifled a giggle, she wanted to be sure... And then the water bug promptly ejected him from her back and well into the water in front of them.[break][break]
What a spectacular display it was, Yuina couldn't hold in her laughter. That was what he got for showboating and poking fun at her, she felt validated and oh so pleased.[break][break]
"Good work Kira-- I appreciate you," Yuina managed through fits of laughter and giggles, it was truly priceless and the timing was immaculate. She did lean up on Daikenki's back, to look out into the water, trying to find his figure. She was going to remember this for a long time.

Betrayal stung.

It would've been hilarious, had it not been for all of his unyielding RAGE.

"The sisterhood strikes again." He muttered darkly, staring out into the sky.

Women supporting women had gone too far.

With a deep breath, he splashed his head back into the water before turning about inside, emerging from the surface before beginning to stroke his way towards them.

"I can't believe I fed and raised you for this." He grumbled at his Golisopod— and was paid little mind, the samurai simply nodding at Yuina before slipping beneath the surface once again. "Y'all better watch yerselves."

She reemerged but a second later, lifting Doug back onto her shoulders.

He did not attempt to stand atop her anymore, though, just pouting with his arms crossed as they continued towards the island.

She couldn't help the left over snickers, her shoulders shaking with each stifled giggle as Doug surfaced from his impromptu swim in the ocean. Yuina smiled at the Golisopod again for a job well done, and patted the side of Daikenki's broad neck.[break][break]
"H-hey, hey now wait a second, I didn't do anything," Yuina returned at his warning, attempting now to mask her smiles to no avail. She was truly innocent, she'd taken no part in his early swim.[break]
"I had no idea what was going on," she feigned innocence for everything it was worth. He never said that outside influences wouldn't be a contributing factor to their bet anyway, so... She was free and clear as far as she was concerned.[break][break]
She waited a moment though, glancing to his exaggeration in the form of crossed arms and a pout as he sat atop Kira's back.[break]
"Soooo.... I did still win though..."

"A likely story." He said, sticking his tongue at her.

A minx like her could surely get these poor, weak-willed pokemon to bend to her will right under his nose. For sure.

"And there it is!" He huffed, sticking his tongue out further. "Gloating already!"

Okay, that might've been just unfair.

Still, he did not back down, rolling his eyes as he crossed his arms.

"But fine. I'll graciously accept this unfair, cheaty cheater's cheating victory." He said very maturely, before slowly blushing as he looked off to the side, suddenly interested in big clouds sitting on the horizon.

"I just... thought it'd be nice to get out of Hoenn for a bit." He said simply. "Just a couple days."

Maybe visit beaches that weren't at risk of getting bombed into oblivion.

The over exaggeration of his tone was all Yuina needed to know that he was taking things well, she couldn't help but laugh as he accused her of gloating. Truly, he was still full audacity, this was likely the first time she was 'gloating' over anything, as opposed to his cheeky, cocky, mischief that was fairly constant.[break]
She digressed though, laughing through his many variations of the word 'cheat'. She loved him all the same.[break][break]
"Now I could be called a liar, but I don't think I can be called a cheater, that's just a touch too far," Yuina mused, and she was, for better or for worse, a liar in many regards. She could make light of it though, sometimes.[break][break]
His tone changed though as he looked out to the horizon, impossibly fluffy white clouds drifting quietly through the open sky.[break]
All at once, in just a short phrase, Yuina suddenly realized just how small her world still was... How little she knew and how little she had experienced. There wasn't just Hoenn, there was a whole world beyond the region, places that she'd never even heard of before, and likely many that she had never visited, even in the past that she couldn't remember...[break][break]
"Oh... I-- I've never even thought about leaving Hoenn yet, I guess because... It's all I know," Yuina returned after a moment, truly something she had never considered.[break]
"Where would we go," she wondered though, looking to him now in curiosity, even wonder. The idea had never crossed her mind, but the very notion that there was a whole world out there beyond Hoenn's borders, and she had the agency to go see it, with him... How could she say no?

He raised his gaze to the sky, humming. "I thought Alola would make a pretty good spot, this time of year."

Summer in Alola was world famous, after all— as was its tourist industry. It also just so happened to be just around the other side of the planet from Hoenn.

No better place to try and catch a break from the chaos really, however briefly.

"It's a pretty nice place. Plus..." He cocked his head slightly, winking her way. "It has a bunch of historical sites for ya to be an adorable nerd all over."

Speaking of her being a liar, the thought of actually visiting Alola was almost amusing. There were a couple of different people that she had played off being from Alola with when asked where she was from... Maybe it was a good idea to make sure she could back that up if it ever came up again?[break][break]
"I have heard of Alola, it's a series of islands, isn't it? There's some Pokemon species variants that come from there too," Yuina recalled, where first she thought that Nimbus her Alolan Raichu was the only of his kind. Turned out that wasn't the case.[break][break]
He did have her attention though at the mention of historical sites, a passion of hers that had been unintentional from the very beginning, but she turned pink again at his reasonings behind bringing it up.[break]
"Stop-- I'll push you off myself," but she was blushing, blinking away, the smile she tried to hide clear in her tone.[break][break]
The next island was nearing, sand banks began to form beneath Daikenki and Kira as the two water types swam through the ocean waves, but Yuina couldn't help the thought now... If only being this far away from the mainland brought its own comfort, what would it be like to be in another region entirely?[break][break]
