Usually, he had a pretty easy time when it came to his Pokémon. Sure, he wasn’t super confident in his abilities as a trainer, but at least they usually listened to him. Usually, just the fact that he was someone who needed protection was enough of a reason for his Pokémon to listen to what he had to say.

That was until Prophet anyway. The Xatu just tended to whatever he wanted, not listening to him or his friend. He had found the Xatu injured and had tended to her wounds. After she expressed disinterest in listening to him, he tried refuting her to the wild, thinking perhaps she didn’t want to belong to the trainer; however, she refused to leave, and he had no choice but to take her back home.

Luckily, she wasn’t doing anything bad, just ignoring him. Well, mostly ignore him. Basically, the only time she actually paid attention to him was when he was feeding her or making sure she was groomed; other than that, she wanted nothing to do with him.

To be honest, he wasn’t sure if it was because she was slow to trust humans or if she had picked up on her lack of confidence when it came to battling. Though, considering he had yet to try and battle with her, he wasn’t sure how that could be. Still, it was a thought to consider, so he put out a request for anyone who could help him become a proper trainer.

Surprisingly enough, the day after he put up the response, he got a hit. Apparently, a guy named Thomas Benoit was willing to help him out. After a bit of back and forth, a time to meet up that was good for both of them was made.

So it was a day after work that found him making his way to meet up with Thomas. Prophet was with him because she was not letting him leave the house without her. It was almost like she was paranoid that he was going to try to return her to the wild again, even though he had made no such attempts since the first time he had done so.

Reaching his destination, he was surprised to find himself in front of a ranch. Before he could decide whether or not it was proper for him to head into what seemed to be someone’s property without being properly invited, the Prophet made the decision for him by heading through the archway.

As Beckett arrived at the Ranch, Thomas was finishing preparing a fresh batch of PokeTreats. The cake-like snacks came in different flavors, to cater to the different preferences his Pokemon had.

As Thomas finished preparing them, an Audino rushed up to greet the Xatu, and her trainer. Dede, the Audino in question, greeted the duo with a friendly wave. She then offered to escort them to where Thomas was to meet up with them.

He was still worried about just entering the others property without being greeted first when an Audino approached him and Prophet. Seeing as the Audino came from further inside the ranch, he relaxed; if the Audino was coming from further inside the ranch, then that probably meant she belonged to the man he had come to see.

Beckett quickly returned the wave, while Prophet simply seemed to look the Audino over. Apparently seeing the Audino as no threat, she didn’t try and stop her trainer from following the normal type. Instead, Prophet would simply fall into a step behind her trainer.[break] Thomas Benoit

DeDe lead them towards the field, where Thomas was distributing the different treats to the Pokemon around him. All of them eagerly ate up the treats that he made.

Thomas then turned to Dede, and the guests, and smiled. "Thank you, Dede.", Thomas cooed at the Audino, offering her a pink treat, and an affectionate pet on the head. The Audino gladly took the treat, nuzzling into his hand before heading off to enjoy the sweet treat.

"You must be Beckett, and Prophet.", Thomas greeted the duo. He then held out a tray with each of the different colored treats, each corresponding to the different flavor profiles offered. "Would you like a treat, Prophet?", he asked the Xatu.

Following behind the Audino, the duo soon came upon a man surrounded by other pokemon. From what he could see, the reason they were surrounding him was because he was giving them treats. The scene was enough to make him smile. It was always nice seeing Pokémon so cared for.

As the man turned towards him, his smile dimmed a bit, uncomfortable with the attention focused on him, but was still there. “Y-Yeah, that’s right,” he acknowledged, focusing his attention on the Pokémon around him, more so he didn’t have to meet the other man’s gaze than anything else. However, that didn’t mean he still wasn’t aware of what was going on around him.

When Prophet was offered a treat, she glanced at Beckett first before taking a red one after receiving a nod from her owner. She seemed wary of Thomas but seemed to trust Beckett enough that she would try one of the treats.

After making sure she wouldn’t cause any problems, Beck turned his attention to Thomas. “It-It might not look it n-now but I’ve had trouble with Prophet. That’s wh-why I wanted help, well-well that and the fact I’m wanting to be a pr-proper trainer,” he explained, fiddling with his hands.[break] Thomas Benoit
