23 encounter a blacephalon that has slithered toward you and/or your party stealthily. they will attempt to explode their head for a surprise ambush.

27 make use of vast of debris-based canyons, valleys, or tunnels created by guzzlord having eaten through city districts.

28 encounter gargantuan guzzlord who devour anything or anyone without discrimination. occasionally intriguing items, or disturbing remnants from their meals can be found on or between their teeth.

29 become ensnared by a guzzlord's pincer like tongue that undulates to draw you and/or your pokemon within its endless gut.

🗺️ SPECIAL HUNT: your character(s) will be able to encounter and catch a GUZZLORD or BLACEPHALON (one or the other). they may be armored or embedded with BLACK METAL &/OR SPARKLING STONES. this material may allow them to unleash devastating Z-MOVES, which makes their subduing and/or capture notoriously difficult. afterward, the material will fall from their bodies as defunct scraps.

Or you may encounter and catch a POIPOLE that is local to the area. You may be able to discover a POIPOLE EGG, or are able to capture or captivate one to your ownership.

this return back to lesser megalopolis is unlike any other for the two of them have quickly found themselves in over their heads. they sprint through vast canyons, making use of the debris the best they can.

but the GARGANTUAN GUZZLORD remains hot on their ass.

Her gait is a bit awkward as she pounds down the path just behind Uriah. “How did it even sneak up on us?” she howls back at him. “It’s freakin’ HUGE!”[break][break]
Debris and scrap metal from destroyed buildings are sucked up into the vortex of the rampaging guzzlord’s open mouth.[break][break]
“I can’t–” A yelp cuts through her words as her foot catches on an old tire.[break][break]

they are in over their heads; this much has stayed consistent through their many expeditions into various rifts. it's a wonder why they keep returning. perhaps there is something to be said about that.

sliding to a halt, uriah turns with urgency, his machamp already springing forward by the time he makes his full turn.

MEGA EVOLUTION encapsulates the fighting-type as it lunges at the guzzlord.

“Put- meeee down!” she continues to shriek at the guzzlord, fists pounding uselessly against the pincer still clamped around her.[break][break]
Granted, it wouldn’t feel great to get dropped from midair, either.[break][break]
If only she could reach the pokeball on her belt, maybe her ninetales could freeze the gargantuan creature, or at least sink her fangs into it.[break][break]
There is some relief as she spies Chad barreling toward them at Uriah’s behest. But from her elevated vantage, she spots something beyond the machamp and his trainer that makes her stomach lurch— and it’s not just from being yanked around.[break][break]
The blacephalon creeps in on the mayhem, its disconnected head rolling gleefully between its shoulders.[break][break]
“Uri— behind you!”[break][break]
Her fingers finally snag the pokeball as the guzzlord bellows in the wake of Chad’s battering and its grip on her loosens. She slips with a shriek, but Furia comes flying from her ball. Sprinting past Uriah as SHEER COLD pours from her bared maw.

too distracted by the peril his paramour finds herself in, uriah doesn't hear the blacephalon coming until it's too late. thankfully, SHEER COLD helps him survive; it slows down the blacephalon enough to delay its MIND BLOWN, allowing uriah to leap to the side in time.

"chad! pull your weight!"

the fighting-type remains occupied with the guzzlord, somehow able to keep it at bay despite their size difference.

uriah gets back to his feet.

"cal, let's get the hell out of here!"

Normally, she might defend Chad, and coddle the machamp–insisting that he was pulling his weight. But in the middle of the chaos, Calla only swings her attention between Chad and Furia and Uriah as she staggers to her feet again and hobbles toward him.
“Keep it distracted!” she yells, and the ninetales yaps before a swirling AURORA BEAM knocks the blacephalon back further.[break][break]
She puffs out a breath as she reaches Uriah, fingers curling around his hand. She’s winded, and frazzled from the panic of being hoisted into the air.[break][break]
But there’s something thrilling about this too.[break][break]
It’s a new sensation–enjoying the adrenaline rush under the panic of the situation.[break][break]
All the same: “Don’t have to tell me twice.” Her eyes scan for a clear route that won’t run them from the ultra beasts and right into any stray megalopolans instead.

she takes too long to scan but he comes to the rescue, ever aware as he is, and tugs her in a direction he thinks is safe but in truth could be anything but. that is the true danger of these realms; the uncertainty of them.

with her hand in his, he feels the adrenaline flowing through his body, along with panic, but he maintains his composure long enough for his machamp's form to fade into the distance.

There is a certain frustration that buds under the surface. A feeling of helplessness, like she can’t take care of herself. Of course, it’s a little irrational—at her stature, of course she wasn’t going to be able to free herself of the guzzlord’s hold on her own.[break][break]
But she doesn’t care for feeling so breakable, either.[break][break]
Her ninetales pelts ahead of them, frost pooling at her feet as she ensures the path is clear for the two retreating humans.[break][break]
Calla doesn’t let her hand slip from his, allows him to pull her along—though this, too, makes her feel a bit useless. She is not fast enough on her own.[break][break]
She frowns, looking back over her shoulder. “Are you sure? I don’t want to just leave him.”[break][break]
Chad is like family, after all.

and sure enough, as they linger on the edge of the rift, his machamp eventually catches up with them, no longer MEGA EVOLVED, its green body bruised and bloodied.

the fighting-type regards them with a look before sighing at uriah.

“Yeah, you’re right..” Her brows furrow, and she tries not to fret anymore. But he stayed behind because he had to get her free. It would have been her fault if anything happened to him.[break][break]
While they’re waiting, she stumbles back when a smaller guzzlord rumbles out from behind a building. She tenses, prepared to set her ninetales loose on it like they had with the other. But it’s…confused? She’s not sure exactly.[break][break]
Or maybe the more aggressive one was protecting it for some reason.[break][break]
Whatever the case, she tests the water by fishing out a pokeball and tossing it out. The guzzlord is sucked inside without much fight. Strange… Maybe it was sick, or injured? Or just a baby? Frowning she stoops down and picks it up. Turns it over in her hands before Chad’s return distracts her.[break][break]
A smile breaks across her face at the sight of the machamp. “Good job, Chad.” Relieved that he wasn’t lost because of her, Calla pats his arm and grins up at them both.[break][break]
“Let’s get out of here.”[break][break]
Unknowing of the fact that is probably the last time she’s with the both of them like this.
